I stopped by the Auburn Chili's and had a very disappointing experience with the General Manager, Sherry. I walked in without a shirt because I had accidentally left it at a party. Rather than politely explaining the policy, she immediately rolled her eyes and told me I couldn't be in the restaurant and kicked me out. I completely understand the dress code and would have happily gone to my car or left without any issue. My problem wasn't the policy--it was the way I was treated. She was rude and dismissive, and when I called afterward to explain, she told me "I can't treat her store like a beach town." A little courtesy and professionalism would have gone a long way. read more

This is by far the best Chili's location my friends and I have dined at (and we've been to multiple). The interior is also noticeably nicer than other locations. I have to give applause to the management, this is clearly a very well-run restaurant! I was genuinely shocked when the food arrived--my Fajita Trio was perfect! That's never happened before. It was seasoned, cut, and cooked to perfection--you can tell the team here cares. They do it right! Most importantly, I have a gluten sensitivity, and I felt great leaving the restaurant and the following day. That speaks volumes about their clean kitchen, fryers, and attentiveness to preventing cross-contamination. Other locations have made me sick before, but not this one. Went here over the weekend with my wife and we had the best service we've had in a long time. The food was fantastic and our server, Robin A., was outstanding! She has such a great energy about her and was very attentive during our dining experience at chilis. She even introduced us to some new dishes/ drinks and we loved all of her suggestions. The Mango Chile-lime chicken is a winner here. Not only is it one of the more calorie-friendly options and it did not disappoint on flavor either. The sides were good too. I opted for two veggie options since I wanted more greens. Apps were good too. Free second round of chips and salsa. Kids love this place. They eat about 3 servings of the salsa and chips, they order their entree and never finish it but they do enjoy what they do eat. Disgusting. Cannot believe I fell for the fake press that Chili's was making a comeback. My husband had a hair in his fajitas. I had chicken fajitas and it is fake, precooked chicken put on a skillet....the cheese is dry bag cheese. The queso was cold and had no flavor. The chips were a basket of broken chips from the bottom of a bag you could not even eat. We now all need Tums. Service was sub-par at best. Margarita was sour. As large chain tex-mex goes, this is one of my ready go-to spots. My kids have a soft spot for the burgers, while I generally prefer a nice steak. I do like to change it up from time to time, and the menu is quite well-rounded. I'll be back, for sure. read more

I am not really a 'chain restaurant' type of guy ... obviously, at most chains everything is bagged, boxed, canned and just thrown together by cooks vs. chefs. Sometimes though, you are in a strange town ... it's 11 p.m. and you've been driving all night and you need some food. There aren't too many restaurants which stay open that late, especially in a town like Auburn which is pretty much a town off The Mass Pike where people who are driving a long distance to/from somewhere else stop to spend the night because they have all the chain hotels and chain restaurants which are open late. Having said that, there are certain restaurant chains which are passable and where you can get a good meal that isn't amazing but won't be offensive. Chili's USED TO be that place. Now, the corporate bean counters have pretty much made it into a place where flash fried frozen food and burgers and bagged salads loaded with fatty dressings sit as empty calories with no enjoyment on the generic plates. There is a depressing vibe at this particular Chili's. The bar is lit with neon blue and fluorescent lighting giving it all of the atmosphere of a car sales showroom. The bar has seating on both sides, so each seat has a view of the center 'pit' area where you are looking at stainless steel sinks, mixer bottles, bar supplies and a dirty floor. It has all the warmth and class of an industrial cleaning supply closet. There are televisions on the wall which always seem to be set to the worst channels possible. The good game is on the small tv and the Real Housewives or Sportscenter are on the big ones. The seats on one side face into the kitchen where you see industrial steel shelves of food and bright fluorescent lights. Zero atmosphere. The beer list here is abysmal ... think corporate big name beers. A 'craft' beer here would be Blue Moon. The Margaritas are $5 on happy hour and have all the potency of a school lunch chocolate milk. I once did an experiment to see how many Chili's $5 Margaritas it would take to get me buzzed ... I stopped at 6 of them ($30) with absolutely no signs of a buzz. It's literally sugar water in a cheesy plastic shaker which you aren't even allowed to keep. The food here is gross. I've never once had anything that tasted fresh. Not once. Even the French fries taste like they have been either reheated or sitting under a heat lamp for hours at a time and triple salted. The burgers are so smothered in sauces, you'd never know that there was beef underneath and the beef is pretty much flavorless if you get it plain. Chicken crispers USED to be good here but are now grease soaked grizzly bits of chicken cooked way too long. Bottom line ... yes, this is a soulless corporate pit of terrible and fatty food (some SALADS clock in at 1500 calories!) that has zero vibe or atmosphere. I don't know too many other late night options in the area ... probably Outback is your best option about 2 miles away. If you are looking for dinner or lunch before 9 p.m. Bentley Pub is a bit more 'local vibed' but for the most part, Auburn is a highway town full of chain restaurants and the few local restaurants are worse than high school cafeteria food ... or close at 9 p.m. on a weekend. read more

I mean, it's Chili's....the food isn't great but the customer service was on point so they got three stars. We started with drinks, we decided on margaritas. I got the triple berry and my friend got the blueberry and pineapple flavor. Our drinks were really good. We ordered two rounds. We decided to get apps before deciding on our meals and we got an order of honey chipotle wings. As I was cutting into my wings I saw a black something....I wasn't sure what it was, but it wasn't a part of the honey chipotle or the white meat chicken....so I asked our server about it and she took it back to the kitchen as she was also unable to confirm what it was. Minutes later the manager came out apologizing and explained that the black thing on my plate was apparently from a piece of spinach from the southwestern egg rolls that has been burnt. Okay, no problem. That was really nice of him and he was extremely pleasant. For dinner my friend got the bacon avocado grilled chicken sandwich (which she said was not that grilled) and I got the Cajun shrimp pasta. We decided both were "alright" but not great. My Cajun shrimp pasta tasted exactly like the description. It's almost like everything was thrown together so it didn't have a savory taste, it had a "throw together" taste. If you cook, you know what I mean. The ingredients just didn't marinate well. As for the burger, my friend didn't finish hers. When asked if she wanted to wrap it up (that's how much she had left) she politely declined. The food here is subpar, not the restaurants fault. It's a chain. It's to be expected. We tried the 3 for 10.99 deal today . I had a lemonade that had a weird taste but her coke was fine . We each got a burger and they were big and once picked up we were not sure about putting down because they need a bun that will stand up to the contents . However the bugers were good . A bit more salt and pepper on them can go a long way . She loves their chips and salsa and more than satisfied . I tried the loaded potato soup and it is a definite try . We ordered takeout from here. The only reason this gets a one star is the food that we did get was actually pretty good. I drove about 15 minutes between back and forth to pick it up. I get home and we are missing the rice and beans that make the fajitas a meal. I call and they say to come back and they will get it for us. I go ALL the way back and the manager gives me the food and says that he cancelled the charge for our food. I asked him what he was going to do for my troubles and he said that he would just cancel the charge for our order and that he tripled checked that it was right this time. I take the bag to the car and check it for myself. It was not right and it was actually more wrong this time than last! I suppose you could attribute my reaction to low expectations, but Chili's is actually alright. At least for certain things in certain situations. If you want a great beer list or farm to table ingredients, this is not for you. However, if you want a 22oz of an easy to find IPA for $7 or a halfway decent burger for $10, Chili's can do that. The fries with said burger are lackluster flavor-wise, but are at least served crisp. They cooked my burger to the requested medium rare and although the meat was underseasoned, it was topped with some pretty good chili and served on a bun that didn't immediately disintegrate. I'm not going to become a regular customer, but I could also see coming here for a giant beer and some nachos if I wanted to watch sports and the sports bar is too obnoxiously crowded. read more

My only gripe is the calorie counts on the menu--either take them off or find a way to encourage me to eat a healthy sandwich instead of a burrito that has less calories. Not good. We keep forgetting that the food here stinks and inadvertently give it another shot. Don't make this mistake. Yes I get that it's fast casual but if I'm going to drop $50 on a basic dinner for two, I'll go elsewhere and spend another $10-$20 for better quality. Service is not very good either, having one person serve all the bar tables and some tables in the dining room is not fair to the sever or the customers. I don't blame the server on this, this is not heir fault, this is managements fault. We were seated very quickly by a very nice waitress. I really wished she was our waitress. The one assigned to our table had 3 full tables and then ours (just my husband and I). We sat for 20 minutes and she never even came over to take our drink order. In that time I watched her refill 2 table's drinks, clear a table and talk with another waiter. When she came back to our section I went up to her and asked if she was our waitress. She said she was and that she was just about to come to our table. I told her we had been waiting quite awhile. She apologized then disappeared into the back for another 5 minutes. My husband was fed up so we got up to leave. As we were leaving, he went to the manager and told her what happened and at that time the waitress had come back out (empty handed, I was giving her the benefit of a doubt that she was getting someone's order) she saw my husband conversing with the manager and threw her hands up in the air as if asking why. I think we were more than patient just waiting the 20 minutes to see if she would take our drink order! Super unprofessional and I think maybe someone should give her a refresher course on how to wait tables and be polite. read more

With last nights handling from the (male)hostess you properly lost a steady customer , we are very aware of covid restriction , we entered the restaurant around 645 and we were told to go back to the car and wait for a txt , so we waited and when we received a notification that our table is next with a 1 min wait so went went back in and in horror we heard the hostess joyously send very elderly man back to his car in the pouring rain instead of accommodate him in a pretty much empty restaurant . Apparently I'm a glutton for punishment. The waitress wasn't good... rushed us, left empty cups and plates (or incorrect items) on the table forever. Brought over an incorrect drink and when we told her she just said "I think it's ____"... awkward silence... "I think I switched two drinks"... well no shit Sherlock!! But her tone was as if she didn't understand why we'd mention it. Response should have been "I'll be right back with that" not stating the obvious and presenting no solution to the problem. The white queso did not come out as described in the menu as it was missing some toppings. Barely warm, some cheese (not the queso fresco) wasn't melted all the way. Bleh. Some of my chicken had a strange texture. The molten lava cake was dry but tasted good. Place was filthy too. I'll avoid for another 6-8 months and veto this place next time someone suggests. read more

Listen, while Chili's has been through some struggling times in the past, I believe that they have honestly stepped up their game recently. I have been here a decent amount and the service has been pretty good. Nice waitresses and waiters, and the chips and salsa are so amazing, especially after a long day. Obviously you're not going to get high quality food items here, however that said if you're trying to relax, have a drink or two with your friends at solid prices; Chili's will always be there. read more
