This spot has been open for a bit. I am always going the wrong way to be able to stop in. It's a bit hard to get into the lot unless you are going the right way on Kenwood Road. I can only speak about the steak torta I had. First of all it was so big it filled the container. I knew it felt heavy when I picked up the bag. Not only was it big, but it was full of steak and toppings. The steak was seasoned well, the sandwich was very tasty! It had lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, jalapeños, cheese, and mayo. You never going to get when you stop by a little hole in the wall/greasy spoon type place, but I've found that they are often home to the best Mexican food that you can get. While I can't tell you if the staff is all Hispanic they certainly look the part and my goodness they know how make some delicious food. I really enjoyed my meal here. I had never been, and As I walked in I heard the other customers all speaking Spanish. That's a sign it was going to be good. Placed my order and as I waited I also learned that all of the Spanish-speaking clientele had ordered a torta as their orders came up. Note to self: try the torta next time. I won't lie I don't know for a fact that this is definitely the best Mexican spot in cincinnati, I've been trying to find the best burrito and I didn't even get a burrito there. The torta sounded way too damn good and the gentleman working there, who turned out to be the owner's son and manager made it pretty clear that anything I ordered was going to be delicious so I just went with what I was craving. he chatted with the woman behind me and myself as we waited for the order to come out, offering us drinks of watermelon aquafresca, which was fantastically light and refreshing, and discussing their closing hours (which is really more like a general suggestion of when they probably start to clean up). Dude was very cool, and when it came time to pay I damn near had to fight him to take a tip period even though he loaded me down with their homemade salsas, a refreshingly cilantro heavy Verde and probably the spiciest of hot sauces that I've had. The gigantic sandwich came out loaded up, and the house chorizo that they make provided a nice thick layer of balanced Smoky flavor across the bottom. The bread was grilled and toasty, layers of flavorful toppings help drive it home. I need to go back, I need to try the burrito, but right now I can tell you for a fact that they are one of the best spots I've had. Pretty good tacos over at Chilero, I'll be back to enjoy some more. I appreciate having a no-frills, focus on the tacos, type place in Cincinnati - the idea of spending $5+ on a taco is very confusing for me. At Chilero's, you can order your tacos traditional, with cilantro and onion, or tex-mex, with lettuce, cheese, sour cream, etc. It's mostly a takeout place but they have 4 tables or so so you can sit down to eat, as I did. I ordered one of each of their tacos - carne asada, pollo, pastor, and chorizo. My favorite was the chorizo and I found the carne asada to be a bit dry. I'm glad they give you limes and salsa for your tacos. I'm giving this place high marks because the people there were really friendly and they even gave me a flan to enjoy (yum!). We tried out this new place for lunch today and it was ok. It's a small place in Kenwood, near Madeira. It only has four small tables and all the food is served in styrofoam containers, so I think it's more of a take-out concept. We were greeted by the owner upon entering, who is very nice, and offered a taste of their fresh Horchata. It had a very good flavor. It is only available in a large size, so we did not order it. I ordered 3 Chorizo tacos. You have the option of 'traditional' or 'tex-mex' for toppings. I chose traditional, which is cilantro and onion. My husband ordered 2 Pastor and 1 Steak tacos, also with traditional toppings. We also ordered some Chips & Salsa. We were asked if we'd like some hot or mild sauce for our tacos. My husband chose hot and I chose mild. All of the food tasted fresh, was a decent portion size and looked delicious. The best part of the tacos were the fresh tortillas. They were soft and had a nice, fresh flavor. Although, we both found the meat in our tacos to be lacking in flavor. I would definitely not order the chips & salsa again. The salsa was just ok. It had a decent amount of heat and tasted fresh but was fairly bland in flavor. The chips were over-cooked and really hard. They also lacked flavor. Over-all this place is ok and has potential. They haven't been open very long and hopefully will work out some of the kinks. We will try them again some time in the future. read more

This place is awesome for authentic southwest especially their street tacos and Tex mex burrito. Don't go for the atmosphere or really dine in as it is in an old KFC but! Everything is made by hand. The homemade hot sauce is the best as are the chips and green salsa. Street tacos are small so get at least three. Apparently I'm still relatively ignorant about Mexican cuisine because I thought Melon water was actually just melons in water *facepalm*. The melon water which is moderately sweet was cool to try now that I know what it is. The place was pretty packed but the cashier was pretty responsive and the burrito was fresh. We were in the mood for tacos and I looked to Yelp for a place we hadn't tried yet. This place has great reviews, and I'd driven by it wondering about it. So, we tried to place an order by phone but kept getting a busy signal. I just drove there hoping that it wouldn't take too long since we were in a bit of a time crunch at lunchtime. Yes, as another review mentions, it is difficult to access. It's on the east side of Kenwood Road, just south of the mall. It's easiest if you're coming from the north to drive past it and turn onto a side street to turn around. Yes, it's not the easiest to get to, but the food is really good!! We ordered three tacos each, two each of the chicken, pork, and beef. They also have chorizo. They offer traditional toppings (onion & cilantro) or tex-mex (lettuce, cheese, sour cream). We went traditional and they snuggled the six tacos in a square styrofoam clamshell with lime wedges. I really wanted a tamale, but they are not serving them yet. So I opted for a chicken quesadilla. Drove home and enjoyed a wonderful lunch with my hubby!! The meat in the tacos was flavorful and the quesadilla was stuffed! We had the option of mild or hot sauce, and I got the hot. Warning: it is REALLY hot!! Next time we'll try the green mild sauce. We will be back again! read more

This is a small mostly carryout (4 small tables) counter-service joint serving primarily mexican style (not taco bell style) tacos At 2.75 each, one might not consider this to be expensive per se; but the tacos are sized for about 3 bites, and as such to me are on the pricey side. They will make them in the traditional style with cilantro and onion or do the americanized version with lettuce, tomato, and cheese, though the cheese used here is the crumbly cojita cheese. One oddity: they provide a single soft corn shell rather than the double shell I have been given at all other such eateries I have been to I tried the asada and the pastor, and did not find either to have much flavor, even after a dousing of lime juice. Mind you, they weren't bad, just meh. In both cases, the proteins were chopped up to the point of being like tiny pebbles Misc: No alcohol. They do take credit. We were very excited to see a new taco joint nearby. In CA we had a Mexican spot one block away which blessed us with many, many (many) a breakfast burrito and in Tucson I had a frequent burritoer card. I was disappointed to see Chilero doesn't really open for breakfast but I did learn during our visit that they do offer chorizo breakfast burritos. We had the torta and the chimichanga special. The chimichangas were really delicious and the salsas were pretty good. The torta meat was good but the bread was waaaaaaaay too thick. It domineered the torta and was really a miss. Updated to add: We got the breakfast tacos and the steak burrito tonight. At first I was very dismayed by the size of the breakfast burrito (it's two but they're small, so unfamiliar from what I'm used to) and they were both soooooooooooooooo good.
