I have shopped and sold items a this store for a few year now. I've consistently had positive experiences when coming to the store and when I call with questions. The staff are very friendly and provide great customer assistance. I highly recommend this store for selling items because they are fair in pricing and have a very organized process. I've sold at a few other stores that aren't as organized which makes for a less positive experience. The nice thing is that you get paid (either cash or store credit) the same day and all items they don't purchase are given back to you the same day in the bags/boxes you brought your items in. I highly recommend making an appointment for selling, just know it's a few months out for scheduling. If you do the walk-in selling you're limited on the amount of items you can sell. With appointments you can bring in more items, esp. clothing. Just keep in mind that you shouldn't expect to get the amount you paid for an item (even if it's not used) and in selling you are supporting small businesses and being sustainable! read more

BEST USE OF THIS PLACE: sell your clothes/toys back for store credit (you are offered more in store credit than when you opt for cash and they are always up front about what the offers are for both) THEN use the store credit to come up on extra jeans and fancy dresses that are usually only worn once before WHAT THIS PLACE ISN'T: This place is for your used, outgrown, 'darn this is so cute, but I don't have anyone to give it to, can't throw this away' stuff. This place IS NOT EBAY, you will not be able to turn around and get retail value on an outfit just because it is new. So if your kid outgrew their Jordans before they got to wear them, KEEP THOSE to sell on Ebay or pass on to a friend =] I regularly go here to sell my kid's out-grown clothes -I end up coming up on $20-30 store credit that I turn around and pick up extra jeans for the kids or any gems I find like a new blouse or jacket from the GAP. Kids grow so fast, it doesn't make sense to me, to buy new EVERYTHING, ALL THE TIME -especially for park/play clothing Reading the reviews, people seem REALLY disappointed that they aren't turning their clothes around for top profit -and at that rate, YES! if you're looking to make the most buck, DEFINITELY try selling direct online; with two kids and full-time work, I don't have the time or energy to Ebay, etc. So G-d Bless those of you who do! I try to chat them up sometimes, they essentially do all day what I try to AVOID all week: cleaning up toys, going through endless mounds laundry - trying to decipher what's clean or not and then folding and sorting them by size. *what mother doesn't empathize with these girls?? LOL!* Anywho, it can be tricky getting in on time to sell, kinda need to be a door buster - the process usually takes about 30-45 mins once they're going through your bags. Like I said, I'm a FAN! it's a little bonus for our family and keeps me from ever getting caught in a growth spurt with nothing to fit the kiddos! As the kids get older, I'll let them bring their clothes in and get cash back $15 is not a fortune -but I know my five year old will appreciate the value of passing on her clothes and earning the money to turn around and purchase something she's been wanting. read more

This store should go out of business- This is the second time I thought I would try to sell stuff here. First time I had asked prior to & the 'owner' said to come an hour before the store opens to sell because there is always a huge line. I got here super early and then waited another 20 minutes for them to get set up because they were just opening. I sold my stuff way under its worth. That was about 5 years ago. Thought I would give them a second try- maybe new management. Wishful thinking! Today I check their opening & buying hours online & it says they buy stuff between 10-12:30. I show up at 10:05 and there is a sign that says- "We have reached our buying limit for today" on the front door. I had to go in and ask the girl just to confirm and sure enough she said they were done buying for the day. Come back tomorrow. Not sure about their communication skills in regards to selling/ buying items. To boot, they aren't ever nice either- just kinda short and rude. Like they are doing you a favor. This review is only based on the buying and selling portion. Went in today on May 30th. I called twice to find out selling times and both times I was told to come in before 12:30pm. So I show up today at 12:10pm and as soon as I walk in the door I'm greeted by "we are done for the day". I try to tell her I called she could care less and was unapologetic. Then she looks at me as I go to leave and jabs with "we don't buy DVD's anyway" So I say I also have clothing and other things and she smirks. I just wasted my day preparing all my items and making the drive only to be sent away. I won't be back and I don't recommend them if your looking to sell. read more

If I were you I would try going to the resell store in Los Alamitos. This store is cool based on the idea but the workers are rude . Don't call they will be rude do not go in they will be rude . Just overall rude regardless of the route you take . Also they will only rip you off . Do not try to resell to them . Oh and do not expect their assistance at all . With anything . They will refuse to help you out . Just save yourself the time and hassle and avoid this place . You are better off having a garage sell . read more

Today I was randomly hit with the idea to do some consigning. I had heard of Children's Orchard before, so I did some internet research and the website said the Cypress location was buying today from 11-1. I decided to drive the 35 minutes to get it done and over with today, rather than wait until later this week to hit up a location a little closer to me. I got together a trash bag of my kids' clothes to sell. Drove down to Children's Orchard. Waited 5 minutes at the front and no employee appeared, so I walked to the back of the store. There's a girl sitting at a computer, too busy to even look up when I talked to her. I told her I was interested in selling some clothes. The salesgirl tells me "she's" not here today to do the buying. I tell her the website says they do it on Mondays. She glances at me and tells me I should have called first, and that I'm supposed to bring the clothes in "2 grocery-sized bags," not a trash bag. I was like, it really matters what kind of bag I bring them in? She says yes. What. We walked out and my toddlers say, "That lady was mean, mom." Yes, yes she was. Screw this store and their horrible customer service. I'll take my business elsewhere. Tip: The employees at Mother's Secret in Orange are extremely helpful, if you're looking to sell. Update as of 11/3/13: I have received the following note through Yelp regarding my review: "Are you family ,friends or employee of mothers secret ??????? Funny how that was your last comment ..just saying. ..." You are clearly connected to the company, as any customer wouldn't care that I wrote a bad review. And I reported this to your corporate office. So unprofessional! I stand by my original statements, and was offering advice to people looking to consign so they don't have to deal with your horrid customer service. I'm really disappointed with this store and its staff. I have shopped at this location for the past 5 years. In the recent year, everything about this location has changed for the worse. I've been to the location twice at 15 minutes past opening only to find the store still closed (and a few other mommies waiting outside, too). The worse change has been the customer service. An older blond lady who works there acts as if you are bothering her when you talk to her, and she doesn't know the pricing on items. When I asked about the price of hair clips, she said, "They're probably $5.99 each." I replied, "Oh, that seems high, but they're cute." She replied, "Well, they are hand made and we need to make a profit." At that moment, a younger sales girl on the floor yelled over that they were only $2.99. Really? Answering questions about your product is your job, so be kind, tell the details, and get your facts straight. The clothing selection is sub-par compared to what I have gotten there in the past. This may be because I am looking for bigger sizes now. The 0-12 months section is huge and seems to have a lot of nice things, but anything 2T and up is worn, out of style, and not name brand. I also noticed that a lot of items lately have been marked final sale, which makes me hesitant to purchase. Overall, it's a real shame that the quality of this store has went downhill since it's in a great location and would save me some money to shop there. That said, I've begun going to other local consignment stores and consignment events. Children's Orchard isn't the only store out there (anymore), so this location should revisit it's policies and customer service techniques before they loose more valuable customers. read more

i was in here tdy. Miraculously, there was no line to sell. The ladies were nice and friendly. Their prices are a little ridiculous. They bought 10 items roughly that equaled $10 cash or $14 store credit. REALLY? A new tutu from FAO, gymboree patchwork jean skirt, etc. MOST of their stuff is kinda tattered & beat looking as it is.. and expensive??? DO THE MATH, IT'S A RIP OFF. They are going to sell that high end skirt for $12.99. They only paid $1 and the merchandise was brought to them. Great set up. They could be selling for much less and still turning a profit. I can get new stuff @walmart/target for my trouble. Maybe they need to charge so much because it takes three ladies to run that shoebox of a store.... Severe, severe lack of customer service. I have been here before and had a pleasant buying experience. I'm 9 months pregnant and came in for a nursing pillow. Asked one of the sales ladies for help since they are up high on a shelf near the ceiling. She told me she needed to find her stick to grab the ones I wanted to see. I stood and waited. There were maybe 2 other people browsing in the store. Not less than 5 minutes later, another lady walks in the store and says to the girl that was helping me that she was there to inquire about an item. The sales girl immediately stops what she is doing to help this lady out after I had already asked for help. I waited another couple of minutes since I had a few books I wanted to buy. The sales girl walked by me with this other lady twice and didn't even acknowledge me or that I had asked for help first. Another sales girl was behind the counter tagging items and was within close distance to see and hear all of this. I put the books back on the shelf and left. Terrible customer service. Don't waste your time here. I'll stick to going to Los Al Kids. read more

I asked if I decided I didn't want to sell something that they were going to buy for 50 cents.... if I could just keep it. And she said no, we will just give everything back to you. Not fair. But anyway, I didn't end up selling anything to them because they offered me $25 for a whole laundry basket with brand new and lightly used baby items. Such a Rip off! I probably had about $250 worth of clothes, swaddles, sleep sacks, and accessories that she was going to give me $25 bucks for. Terrible. And when I asked for my items back after deciding on a no.... she had kept a few items in the back that were mine. I was missing a few of my items like new baby socks and brand new baby shoes. Not cool. Never coming back here again. To top it off everything they do have in the store is old, faded, and outdated!!! They pretty much wanted to buy my baby clothes for 50 cents and sell it for $5 bucks. F that. read more
