i used to frequent the chilantro food truck on richmond so i was very excited to go to the brick and mortar location! it's chipotle-esque which i liked. i got a korean beef bbq bowl with jasmine rice, grilled veggies, guac, tortilla strips, and kimchi (~$15). it was really yummy! the drinks (strawberry limeade, peach lemonade) were really delicious as well. i wish i had a chilantro closer to me because i would definitely be abusing the rewards program lol read more

We went to their soft opening. We waited for an hour before we finally ordered our food. During our wait, they were offering water, strawberry limeade, and basil peach lemonade. We opted to create our bowls and ordered kimchi fries with K-pop chicken. The food was delicious and the staff was so attentive. We will definitely be back. read more

I enjoyed Chi'lantro! It is very similar to a chipotle/ cava where the employees make your food in front of you and let you pick your options. It is a very casual, fast food kind of scene where all of the workers are very friendly. I opted for a bowl with the spicy chicken, caramelized kimchi, carrots, corn and tortilla chips dressed with magic sauce. I really enjoyed the flavor in the chicken but wish I picked a different sauce. The magic sauce is a mayonnaise based dressing so it was very thick. I would definitely recommend trying them out! read more

I've been craving bulgogi fries lately, so I was excited that this Korean-style Chipotle place open nearby! I tried their kimchi fries and added what essentially is bulgogi but was a bit disappointed. The meat was very salty yet lacked flavors. My husband also ordered the Japchae con Queso bowl to try and the spicy pork there was a lot better. The noodles were flavorful and overall texture was balanced. The service overall is attentive and friendly. Although, it seemed the manager was trying really hard to give this influencer special treatments and at one point shushed the employee who was helping the girl picking out her base. I thought that's pretty tacky and maybe need to re-evaluate the company's culture. For this I would like to give them a 2. But I would like to come back and try other stuff one day and hopefully experience something better and update this review. read more

Saw this place on Shark Tank so I thought I'd give it a try.. not from the Houston area so need to try something new. The meat was tender however I did run into a few fatty pieces. I did not think there were enough toppings that I saw on Shark Tank. It was OK. read more

Chi'Lantro has finally made it's way to Houston! Growing up in Austin, I've had Chi'Lantro quite a few times and am glad it has now opened here. I came for their grand opening and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The staff were super friendly, offering drinks to us while we were standing outside in line, answering our questions, and serving us efficiently. I love both Korean and Mexican food, so this is the perfect place to get both at the same time. I also love the concept of being able to build your own bowl- personal favorite base is the japchae noodles with either Korean BBQ or spicy chicken as the choice of protein. You can also order one of their pre-selected bowls. I do think Chi'Lantro is kind of pricey, but overall, the food is great! read more

Got the bbimbap bowl with Korean bbq and their corn. Overall it was decent but I've had chilantro at their original food truck before and it wasn't the same as before. The beef wasn't as tender but it was well seasoned. All of the sides were fresh and the kimchi had a solid crunch and spice to it. Overall it was like Korean bbq chipotle but about 2x as expensive. read more

We were hungry and didn't want to end up in a fast food joint, but we still wanted something good! Chi'Lantro has been frequently popping up in my social, and we were in the area. It's a little "expensive" for counter service (paying for convenience [2 bowls, 2 drinks, and gratituity: $43)], but the food was delicious. The options are plentiful, and the ingredients are fresh. I love the fusion of flavors, and I LOVE that more and more Asian/Asian inspired eateries are available now! The B'bimbap beef was tender, and KPop chicken was fresh and crunchy. Great balance of flavors in one bowl. Kimchi could kimchi a little more, but the flavor still comes across. The location is easily accessible with ample parking, and outdoor seating is available but on a busy, busy street. Indoor seating is ample, and with the hugs windows, it's pretty much outdoor seating! I'm glad this is a new food option locally and will be keeping it on rotation! read more

I normally love fusion food, but this place didn't hit the mark for me. It was served similar to chipotle or cava and they give you small portions when you ask to fill your bowl. The tex mex Korean mix was not as good since there was too many flavors going on. Don't think I will return especially since it was a little more expensive than me just going to freebirds. read more

I'm beyond thrilled that one of my fave Korean eateries from Austin, has made its way to Houston finally!! ***I live in Houston and I would drive to Austin just to eat at Chi'Lantro. When I was living in Florida, I would add Chi' Lantro to my list of stop when I come in to Austin for a visits! My fave location is on Burnet Rd in the ATX! if your warning, Shark Tank were the loaded fries, definitely head on over here and check out the kimchi fries!!! Thank you Cliff for the loaded Kim Chi fries. Genesis for being super sweet! The food hits the spot!!! I made my own bowl w/ the K-Pop chicken, corn x 2, MAGIC corn x 2, pickled onions and jalepano, black beans, cilantro and onions. Oh my gosh! Clean, light, bright dining room at a convenient location! I'm a fan of Korean Barbecue and Chi'Lantro serves some of the best at a reasonable price. We tried two different bowls and the esquite corn and the KPop chicken--everything was fresh and flavorful and attractively plated. Great spot! Delicious food. I had the k pop chicken bowl with noodles. There are so many options for toppings and sauces. Also tried the pork bowl which was super flavorful. My only complaint is that the chicken tasted like it had been sitting out for quite some time, which isn't ideal for fried food. The amount of pork on the other bowl seemed like very little. Regardless, I love this spot and will definitely be back. Pumped to have it in Houston. read more

I've picked up bowls from the ghost kitchen location of Chi'lantro BBQ in Houston, was excited to eat at this storefront location. Ordered the kimchi fries and a veg bowl w/rice. Loved both the items! Very reasonably priced and huge portion sizes. We sat outside and the owner saw us struggling to open the umbrella, so he came out to help us open it. Great customer service. I have passed by this place several times because I go to a salon in the same building. I don't know why I never stopped in before! I decided to try it today and am so glad I did. Tony helped me pick out my bowl. I didn't know what anything was (I had never had this kind of food before) and he explained everything, helping me decide what I would like based on my likes. I got the Kimchi on the side because I wasn't so sure and turns out I loved it! It was so fresh and delicious! I will definitely be back! Chi'lantro is awesome, the food speaks for itself! I've been eating the kimchi fries for years back from the food truck days but wanted to review the take out restaurant experience I had: placed an order on (what I assume was probably) a busy Friday evening. Got home and realized our chips and queso were missing. A little disappointed but not a huge deal, just wanted it taken off the bill. Immediately called and asked for a refund on the item and unfortunately didn't hear back right away. It took a few calls but when I did hear from the general manager he apologized, said it should have been taken care of and refunded the whole meal for the hassle. I'll double check my order next time before walking out but will definitely be back because I know they take care of their customers and the food is so worth it! read more

How is it a good idea to put jalapenos in your Umma salad but not list them on the menu?????????????????????? Is it counterintuitive or is it just a Korean thing? If so I can do without it altogether. Thanks but no thanks!!! Enjoy dumping spice into your food without telling people. I used to play that joke in college to bums who never pitch in for food but hey at least you got an exorbitant amount of money from me for a mediocre salad. You really got me there guys.... Until today, I had no idea that they were related, or better said, that Jax was the rebrand. I didn't have the opportunity to try The Union Kitchen, but I can say I tried Jax on the Tracks and while I love their selection, Jax may not be for me. While everything was fine, it was just that, fine. Their pancakes hit a nice balance of sweet and savory, leaning egg heavy. I personally like a bouncier cake, but if you're not a fan of that style, they may be perfect for you. The queso had a great texture but the accompanying chips and avocado toast were forgettable. Although this wasn't a meal for me, their large selection encourages me to give them another try, this time going for the more popular items. I'll keep you posted!

Order-to-Appetizer: 15 Minutes Order-to-Entrees: 30 MInutes For three people, we ordered: Dairymaid's Cheese Board (4/5): Comes with four cheeses, five small pieces of sourdough, honey-spritzed grapes, green Granny Smith apples, and fava beans. I wish they gave us more bread with the cheeses and preserves. The four cheeses provided were slices of a five-year aged Cheddar, Oveja Anejo, Tomarashi, and Gruyere. I enjoyed the Tomarashi the most. It is a bit pricey for what you get, but very sharable and a great starter. Shady Acres Pizza with prosciutto (3.5/5): I really don't like getting thin crust pizza that isn't crispy, and unfortunately this was a soggy thin crust pizza. The toppings themselves were very flavorful, and the end parts were crispy enough. 5 Cheese Calzone with chicken (3.5/5): Whew, five cheeses makes for a salty calzone. The side marinara sauce provides a good balance. It's very filling. Chicken might have been a good addition because prosciutto might have made it too salty. It was larger than expected which was nice for sharability. Service was kind of iffy. They were pretty rude with not providing us utensils and seeming almost angry that we asked for some for the cheese board. They mixed up our order (we asked for chicken on the pizza and prosciutto on the calzone and they flipped it) and seemed almost apologetically serving us afterwards. Overall, would recommend as a relaxed date spot at a reasonable price. I paid via inKind and applied referral credit with no issues. Would come back with inKind credit, probably not at full price.

The listing for this exact location says "pets welcome," so I felt confident stopping by. However, as soon as I walked in, I was greeted by two customers fawning over my dog. Before any staff member greeted me or even acknowledged me as a customer, someone from behind the far counter told me that dogs were not allowed inside. I mentioned that their Google listing says pets are welcome, and the response was that it applies to a different location. That would be fine if it were clear, but the listing I checked had this location's address directly underneath "pets welcome." That is confusing and misleading. What made it more frustrating was the lack of hospitality. There was no greeting, no attempt to clarify kindly, no "We're sorry for the confusion," and no effort to offer a solution like helping me quickly order to go. It felt dismissive. Clear and accurate information matters. If pets are not welcome at this location, the listing should reflect that. I drove out of my way based on that detail, and it ended up being a waste of time and gas. Because of that experience, I chose not to patronize the this location but may try another location one day.

The pistachio flavor very much overpowered the baklava aspects of the dish, so I could see it being less of an issue with other flavors. The chai latte on the other hand was quite delectable, it had just the right amount of spice and the flavor was both rich and consistent through the entire drink. I was also really impressed by the presentation, both the drink and the dishware brought much joy to my soul. Will definitely be coming back here!

I don't feel so lethargic after eating it. It comes with the mustard pickle remoulade and it's delish! They have both indoor and outdoor seating, all covered which makes it nice. We sat on the patio, and after ordering, just scanned the table to let them know where we were seating. Service is efficient and all the workers are very kind and welcoming. A very chill vibe!
