Ambience - This location is a nice small place that is very vibrant. The store is mostly white paneling and tile with nice bursts of blue and green in the decor. Very simple but very cozy. There is only a few tables, bar tables and some outside seating. Walking in had the most pleasant smell of goodness. Menu - This menu is very straight forward. The menu is Hispanic and Korean fusion which works surprisingly well since their claim to fame is using kimchi. For anyone who doesnt know, Kimchi is fermented salted vegetables mostly consisting of radishes and napa cabbage. Their prized dish is the Kimchi fries. The rest of the menu is very simple to follow, it is literally step 1 thru 6. Pick your base, protein, vegetables, toppings, sauces and extras. They have an awesome variety of products for each category. The unique thing about the way you order is that all the ingredients can be made into whatever you want, like a rice / noodle bowl or a burrito, maybe you want it on a salad, heck you may even want it all slapped together on a beef patty and 2 buns. Its your choice. It is kinda interesting. Service - As soon as i walked in there were 2 employees cleaning the dining room and they welcomed me in. As soon as i got to the area to order, there was 2 very pleasant ladies who helped me thru the menu as this was my first time here. They were very polite and understanding of me looking over the menu for a few minutes. They answered all my newbie questions and they actually seemed sincere. I apologized a few times for doing things out of order and the lady making my food was like "dude no worries" Thats not what she said but she was just very understanding and helpful. The cashier im pretty sure was new as she made a mistake ringing in my order, forgot to give me my drink cup and receipt. But thats ok because she was friendly and the rest of the crew helped her out without hesitation. Tip of the hat Chi'Lantro, this is what customer service is. Being patient and understanding, making people feel welcome, and having a team that is super helpful to me and their crew. +2 points! Food - So i got their prized Kimchi Fries. When i first started to order i ordered the fries and was about to order an entree, but the lady told me that the fries is actually more of entree rather than an app. And she was right, the Kimchi fries was a very nice potion of fries and goodness. So the fries come with your choice of protein, Kimchi, monterey+cheddar cheese, onions, cilantro, sesame seeds, MAGIC sauce and Sriracha. The fries came in one of the traditional paper boats but was piled high with greasy goodness. I got my fries with the pork and i was not disappointed. So i carefully try to mix my food up without it all falling over so that i can get a taste of everything in each bite. Now these were some awesome fries. The condiments worked well with each other and had a great amount of spicy. Not super overwhelming but hot enough to make your nose run a bit. It was a perfect burn. Now the part that was awesome was that Kimchi didnt feel out of place. I mean come on, who would have thought that having pickled vegetables on loaded fries would be a thing?! The Kimchi gave it a great zing to each bite that was great with spicy and fried goodness. I dont know what the magic sauce it but it was tasty. I wish i had a refined palette so i could know different ingredients and spices just by taste. The pork was moist and flavorful and had great texture. I was surprised. The amount of food i got was just perfect as i was full when i finished and i had finished the meal, so great portion size. Now the only thing that was "bad" was that the description says on a bed of crispy fries. My fries were not that crispy at all, they were cooked fully but didnt have that crunch that i was expecting. This would have been better if they were because by the time i got near the end, the fries were extra "soggy" or "wimpy" because of all the toppings soaking in. However, that is just a very minor detail. My fries were freaking amazing, i have never had a twist like this for fries and it worked very well. I left satisfied and good about my purchase. Overall - I had a great experience. Good customer service, great product and reasonably priced. I paid $8 for the fries and $2 for a drink. Not bad considering the ingredients involved. I am definitely looking forward to going back to try one of the make your our bowl. If they can do fries that good, then i cant wait to try the entree bowl. I've been to Chi'lantro twice before and the service has been consistently mediocre, but you come here for the asian-Mexican fusion, not the smiley service, I guess. As some other reviews have said, they definitely give not-so-generous servings of protein and the more expensive items, but if you want them to load you up on things like lettuce or cilantro, they're happy to oblige (see picture). The overall portions are pretty filling, like what you usually get at Chipotle, mainly because it's like half rice or noodles. The food is actually pretty tasty, nothing to complain about there, especially if you get their Magic sauce- stuff's good. One important thing to note is they don't take cash, although that's pretty well-known about all Chi'Lantro locations. What I was shocked at is they don't take Apple pay or any kind of mobile pay app, which I prefer over paying with card, so I was disappointed. We visited our first Chi'lantro today and really, really enjoyed our meal. The menu is simple. The price is very reasonable. The food is really good. All of that and you have a great combination. We've seen Chi'lantro around town when they were mainly a food truck but I have a slight aversion regarding food trucks, plus in Texas, on a warm day I don't like to sweat and eat. That's nasty. Give me brick and mortor and air conditioning any day! I had the noodle bowl with spicy chicken and cucumbers and it was a d-lish dish! Good taste and the right price. We went there for lunch and the experience was not good. The restaurant is located at a tiny plaza with small parking space shared with other stores. We got there around noon on a wed, and the plaza parking lot was totally full. Had a really hard time to park the car. I have been to this restaurant a couple of times before and now they gave out smaller portions than in the past. The restaurant has a bad seating system. They have limited seats, and doesn't put in any effort to manage the seating situation. After got our food, we couldn't find an empty seat and were standing in restaurant while holding the food. While one person took 6 chairs while all his 5 friends were still waiting at the far end of line to order food! If a place has limited seats, I wish they could assign seating better during rush hours. read more

I just want you to know....that I tried. Would I try again- not on my dime. The freshness of their food is definitely not under fire. Prices- uh..reasonable..I suppose. This place used to be one of my favorite places to eat. They have these amazing gluten free noodles made from sweet potato I think. I went in about a month ago and ordered my usually which looked awfully light so I asked if that was the regular amount of ingredients and the girl said "Yes, it is always measured out." however, this definitely wasn't even 2/3rd's of the amount I got every time prior to that visit. This was my first time coming to the store front. There used to be a Chilantro food truck in Houston, sadly it closed =[. The menu has definitely revamped, the concept is similar to chipotle or a poke place, where you choose a base, protein, add ins and sauce. I decided to order something simple, the kimchi fries, which they've been known for. The look of the kimchi fries were definitely instagram worthy. I only wished the fries tasted as good as it was pictured.....The kimchi was a bit sour, they should've stir fried it to subdue the fermented taste. They always have top quality food, with tastes out of this world! That's a given. Kichi fries with steak is my staple, but my son ordered the Korean wings which were excellent. But particular to this location, the customer service is beyond belief. They care about the customers and I don't give that comment lightly or often. Yes yes yes yes yes! I love this place! I am way too addicted to the food here. My go-to are the tacos, which I get with beef and get them as street tacos (this combo of toppings isn't on the menu, but you just get the create-your-own kind and add the beef, onions, cilantro, and lime juice, though I also add corn because why not). I've never been disappointed with my tacos. It's a must-have for me, and I can't go to Chi'lantro and not get those tacos. Their fries are also so yummy, I get them with the same toppings as the tacos. I've also tried the soy-glazed chicken and it is so yummy. My boyfriend always gets the burrito (signature style) with spicy chicken and/or their chicken wings and loves both. Another plus is the Maine Root beverages. I got hooked on these as they're also on tap where I work, and tbh I think their Cola is better than Coca-Cola, even the Mexican Coke. I joined yelp just to talk about these Kimchi fries. The flavoring was really balanced and I vote spicy pork all the way. Although I've since had the spicy chicken and it's just as good. The concept had me skeptical but they somehow pull all the flavors together to create a unique menu. Mexican, Korean, American. The perfect blend. Someone said it's the Korean Chipotle and I would agree. I also had the Ribeye Beef Burger which was made perfectly especially with the addition of a fried egg. Juicy and flavorful. My husband got a rice bowl with spicy pork and I got Kimchi Fries with spicy chicken. My husband enjoyed his, but for the rice there wasn't much food. I do feel the portions are a bit small. Ideally, my husband and I would probably both get bowls and order fries to split, but the fries are just as expensive as the bowls. Freaking yum!! The food here is delicious and hits the spot. I love the Korean flavors and all their items. The beef is tender and the chicken wings are plump and juicy. I think their food is high quality at a great price. Jasmine was so patient with me and took care of me the whole time. She happily cut my burrito in half, took my last minute chicken wing order, and packed my to go bag with forks, napkins and sani wipes. She really made my experience awesome. Ok let me start my review by saying "Korean inspired" and no GoChuJang sauce? Seriously? I really wanted to not just like this place, i wanted to love it but sadly not so. There are a lot of options which is cool, get it burrito style, bowl etc and plenty of toppings. Proteins, the ribeye was good, close facsimile of bulgogi. I added the spicy chicken and found too many rubbery pieces parts in it. The kimchi looked bland, no colorful pop and the flavor matched. Maybe they were looking for something not too spicy and thus left out the hot paste, but kimchi is kimchi and it should be a hallmark of any place which slaps Korean anything on the wall. There were plenty of veggie toppings along with sauces. I ended up trying the magic sauce which was more like the siracha mayo on sushi but was way too sweet. The kimchi sauce didn't leave any memorable flavors to make me say it was good. Bland. If i come back, i will probably get a noodle bowl(good clear glass noodles like japchae) and some of the ribeye, veggies and then smuggle my own hot sauce and kimchi in. I was in the area for a business meeting and received recommendations to try Chi'Lantro, and I'm soooo glad I did. If you like Asian fusion, then this will be right up your alley. You can pick from different bowls (rice, noodle, salad) or tacos or wings. I started with the noodle bowl and added the soy glazed chicken and packed it with veggies. There are additional topping that you can add for a small fee like avo or guac or fried egg. I topped my bowl with a drizzle of the chipotle ranch and that really brought it all together. The portions are quite big in my opinion for the cost (around $10). Side note: the shopping plaza where this location is doesn't have a lot of parking so keep that in mind if you plan to come during the lunch hour read more
