Ordered outfit on line. When it arrived the top and slacks were two different colors - not the matching color originally ordered. Called the local Chico's shop and they had the matching slacks in the color I needed. Went by and made the exchange - slacks were now on sale so received a refund. This is such a fun store to shop in. My friends and I visit every time we plan a lunch date in town. I recently found a casual top set here in rose and wine colors. I can't wait to wear it again when the weather gets a bit warmer. It's so nice to find pieces that complement each other and can be layered and not look too bulky. Chico's is one of my Mom's favorite stores. SO looking for some gifts for her birthday. Walked in and the sales representative - Behnaz was very helpful! As I am not very familiar with their sizing, I was very grateful for her assistance. We walked around the whole store and she showed me some great options. Chico's is my favorite place for EVERYTHING.....this one is my favorite because it's in a small town with great service and the ladies are very helpful, when I walked in the store I was greeted right away (with a smile) and the salesclerk started to explain about the great sizes (I AM A SIZE 2 WOW) I was hooked! I've been shopping here for years and I must disagree with the poor ratings and reviews here. I've always found this store to be nicely stocked, always clean and everyone that works there is incredibly friendly and helpful. When they don't have a specific item in my size, they're always quick to offer to find it and have it shipped to me for free. While I do agree with some of the other reviews about the "grandma does Vegas", not everything there is made for granny. (I must also say, the so-called grannies they get to model their clothes in the catalogs are not granny looking at all). I also found the sizing to be a bit odd, but I must say after losing 70 pounds and being told I fit in a size .5-1, it was a huge ego boost. If ever an employee "pushes" an item on me, I politely say no and they've never given me the impression of being disappointed. The leggings/jeggings they sell are fantastic, btw. Trust the sales clerk when she tells you to size down a bit, because they do stretch as you wear them. Last, but certainly not least, I frequently bring my dog to downtown Los Altos, and the employees in this store never mind if he escorts me through the store. He's well behaved, so of course that helps, but I've never once felt unwelcome here when my side-kick tags along. read more

cute store located on the main shopping strip in downtown los altos. this store carries all sorts of casual wear for women. i do feel that their styles and designs were created with the more "mature" woman in mind since i've never seen anything too flashy or tight-fitting at this store. their sizing system is a bit strange, as any size labels i've checked always say 0, 1, or 2. must be their internal system, as i've never seen any other store size their clothing this way. interior is pretty big and the layout is neat and organized. read more

My sales person was terrible. She said things looked amazing on me when clearly they did not. When there wasn't something in my size she would give me a different size and say that size fit me perfectly. She tried so hard to sell me and clearly didn't care how the clothes really looked on me. Finally I said "You have to stop. If you tell me one more time these ill fitting clothes look good on me I'll know you just want to make a sale". I said, "I know my body and what looks good. I know fashion. I've been in the industry for over 20 years." She finally said, "You are right." I get that she needs to make money, but a good sales person finds clothes that look good on their client. I'm sure Chico's has some cute items that fit every body type. They really should train their staff to help the customer. This person didn't care about anyone but herself. I will never shop there again. I would never recommend shopping there. Chico's demographic is 40+, I have stopped in now and then; but not into the glitzy stuff, like the jeans with bedazzled pockets, or tops with rhinestone accents, very 'grandma does Vegas' if you know now what I mean. With that said, some of their things are nice and it is always fun to wear a size '2'. A Chico's size 2 is a size 12-14 (kind of like dog years). read more

I like Chico's clothes. They are good quality. I go to either the Palo Alto store or the Los Altos store since I live and work right in the middle of the two locations. The customer service between the two stores is night and day. The Los Altos store has the worst customer service of any retail store I have been in. Since it is all Chico's, go to the Palo Alto store. read more

I like the clothes but the service at this Los Altos store is brusk and unfriendly. A couple weeks ago I got a great deal on black pants for $15 on the rack outside. I come back to buy some more to be told by the rude saleslady that they no longer are on sale. This completely put me off. First of all if you are in sales #1 rule Be nice to the customers Secondly, don't understand if they were trying to unload these pants for $15 that they would than put them back on the regular price. Go Figure. As I say, It put me off, and I don't know when or if I will be back at this Chico's. read more

The sales people are very helpful. I am loving the new season's clothes. So very cute. I want to buy everything. Loving the beautiful colors and the different outfits that can be created to mix and match many fun looks. The sizing can be a little confusing. I do recommend trying clothes on and not just buying the same size every time. Some 1 size fit while some 2 size fit etc. It is about actually trying the clothes on and not assuming because you are a size # in something that you are a size # in everything. read more

I think Chico's is a great addition to downtown Los Altos. Their clothes are nice but they don't really have my size, their size 0 is more like a 4 or a 6. I do however like their accessories, jewelry, belts and scarves are well priced and new styles come in frequently. I think the service is very good and have never had a problem. I was surprised to read otherwise. read more

I bought a pair of white pants on sales. It was too long. When I took it for alteration, we noticed a red spot on the side. back of the pants were wrinkled and there were signs of wear on the bottom! YUK! this was used by someone else and had been returned. They just put it back on the rack without checking it out! The customer service is really bad! I will never shop at this store again. read more

Chico's is a good brand but always have a problem with sizes. The sales person at this store can be pretty persistent and comment on your looking great even when the styles don't suit you. They are all sweet but need to stop pressurizing you. They need to have better sales and prices are ridiculous at this store. read more

I like chicos clothes, especially since I am a "summer" and they have lots to offer in cheery colors. A little too much jersey stuff though and the prices are ridiculous but they have a great sale rack. Jewelry is on trend and fairly reasonable. The customer experience is weird at this store...you almost feel like you walked in after a cat fight or something...the salespeople don't seem happy working with each other. My experience every time I've been there btw. Worse yet you try and return something and they make you very uncomfortable. I bought some jewelry and an overpriced dress the other day and couldn't believe how uncomfortable I was made to feel just returning one item out of the many I purchased. I am seriously considering returning the other items now and will not be entering the premises again. Lots of stores to shop in no need to shop places that make you feel weird. Sad to say the review back in 2009 ("their service ranges from non-existent to one with an attitude of disdain. It has been like that for years. I like the clothes and the special sales. I am done attitude of this location, there are plenty of other locations wanting my business") still holds true to this day. I have never seen such disdainful, uncaring, customer service EVER than at this particular location. The saleswoman never spoke a word to me during my transaction, instead talking to her co-worker who was too busy working on her inventory to help other customers, and pointing to a location in the store instead of walking the customer over to the location. The salesperson helping me did not even wrap my items in tissue, instead throwing it in a bag and SLIDING the bag across the counter. I have lodged a scathing complaint with their corporate office, suggesting that they work on retraining their staff at this location. Off to Santana Row or Los Gatos where the folks are much friendlier. read more
