I think I'm a lot younger than the typical crowd that shops at Talbots, but my mom turned me onto their clothes because they're super great for work and translate really easily from the weekend to work as well.
However my issue with the store is the attitude of the sales women. I typically shop online ahead of time and either reserve what I would like to purchase online before I stop in and purchase, or have a good idea of what I need and just need to make a quick stop. That being said I'll typically stop in during the evening, usually 15 or 10 minutes prior to their closure, before my work shift. Every time I come in I never fail to get attitude, usually they'll say "Oh, we close soon." And I don't mean this in a nice, over closing soon so I would love to help you find what you're looking for quickly and efficiently, I mean this in a way that makes you feel like you should not be in the store.
As someone who has worked multiple retail and service jobs, I have always been taught that the customer comes first, and if someone makes it into the store before closing time, they should be served. I find it ironic that these women who are much older than I am, can't take just a few minutes to figure out why in there before judging the fact that I will make their evening go late. Usually you take me just a couple minutes to pick out what I'd like, or even no time for them to retrieve what I already have on hold, before making a purchase, so it's pretty presumptuous to treat me with such attitude every time I come in. It wouldn't be such a big deal, and I wouldn't be writing this review, if that he'll even one time. But it's literally every time, and this is happened to me at least five times.
Honest the women who work there act like they don't need or want the job that they have. As if they have a right to go home the second 6 o'clock hits each night. I wish they would understand that when you voluntarily take a job in retail, if your job to close the store, including serving last customers, closing the register and cleaning the shop, before you go home.
Anyway, I'm starting to ramble now... It is just so appalling the level of service at the store operates on, and that they keep getting away with it. Overall if I have time on my hands, I'll take the extra 20 minutes to drive all the way over to Valley fair, just to get good service and specifically not get the store my business. That or I will shop online, by multiple sizes and only come to the store to return. I've had enough of the attitude. I truly hope the district manager or some higher level employee see this, because it seems like the middle management within the shop doesn't really care either. read more
