I witnessed an extremely inappropriate exchange between a friend and an employee at this location…read moretoday, May 15. My friend went to Loft to look for some new work clothes. What should have been a pleasant experience turned into something worse after she went to the fitting room. The woman "helping" her, an older woman with short blonde hair, decided that my friend had grabbed the wrong size. She then returned to the fitting rooms with a bigger size stating, "You got too small of a pants size. "I didn't want you to go into the fitting room and get discouraged", even though my friend had not disclosed her size to this employee, nor had the employee seen what she looked like in the pants. On top of that, why would she assume my friend is dissatisfied with her weight? Assuming she would "get discouraged" is completely ridiculous, as if she couldn't just be happy with the way she currently looks. Obviously, my friend was very upset. Not that it's anyone's business, but due to extenuating circumstances her weight has been fluctuating lately, and as women in this society, we are unfortunately all too aware and concerned about our appearance, and because of these factors it is already for her to go shopping in person as it is. This was extremely inappropriate for that employee to say, so much so that I cannot find the words to express how appalling I found this encounter. My friend, now feeling self-conscious due to this employee's careless and uncalled for remarks, decided she would say something to a separate employee to ensure this woman would not make any other young women uncomfortable in the same way. When she expressed patiently and calmly what happened to a different employee, all the employee had to say was "Oh yeah, she's very blunt" as if that makes it any better. The "explanation" was just a big old f*** you to my friend and this uncomfortable experience. I truly cannot believe I have to type this right now. Both employees offered no help to my friend and somehow, the second employee had the ability to make this trip to Loft even worse for her. Suffice to say, neither of us will ever be returning to this location and it remains to be seen if we will ever shop at Loft again. I suggest better training your staff in hopes that they don't continue to make insensitive remarks that will lead to a lack of business and ultimately the closing of this branch.

She told me she would get dresses in January for the next season. When I asked if she would still be able to get them by my daughter's April wedding I was told it depended on the gown and she wouldn't know until then.Well, that's not reassuring!! I was pretty much turned away. Complete waste of time. It is fall/holiday season! You would think they would have a selection of gowns for the holiday season, especially in dark green.... But nope! When we arrived the shop was completely empty except for us and the two women that worked there. I was greeted by a sales associate (I believe her name was Jo...but I honestly don't remember) who had a generally aggressive vibe but this is NJ so I let it roll. She asked what I was looking for and I explained that I was looking for a green gown for our daughter's April wedding. She immediately became irritated and huffily told me that she would show me around. She explained on the tour that they did not have any gowns that would 'fit' me in green (I am a misses 16/18) and that because it was the end of the season she could not order any of the dresses she had in a different size or color for either. She asked to see some images of gowns I had seen by a brand i liked she carries. I showed her several options. She pulled a VERY matronly gown out and said she could order this in my size and hem the sleeves off. I insisted that I did not like the dress and she wanted to argue about how it looked just like the image I showed her (it absolutely did not). She then pulled another dress out that was clearly NOT appropriate fora MOB and offered that. This was NOTHING like what I showed her. By this point I was beyond upset and frustrated because she kept restating that they didn't have much in my size....as if it reinforce I was fat. She said my only option would be to buy something off the rack or wait until she got new gowns in January. I asked if I waited until January if the gown would arrive in time for an April wedding. I was told she couldn't be sure until she knew which gown it was as not all gowns are kept in stock so there was no way to tell. This doesn't even make sense because all the gowns I showed her are fully stocked and orderable online. By this point I decided to leave as I was barely holding it together from giving her a piece of my mind. It's a shame because we went in with NO budget as long as I found something I loved. Considering they had an EMPTY store might have been a good idea to try and capture the $1,000+ sale. DO NOT shop here. They are rude, not size inclusive, and the selection is limited if they can not offer additional sizes and colors. Such a waste of an afternoon.
