It's set up like a southern tea house. I tried the Mama Maui scoop, pimento cheese on toast(only one side of the bread?) , and the grape salad. I think it's the texture that throws me off. The chicken is so dense with no texture, I could not taste the pineapple or the jalapeños in my salad and the bacon seemed like bacon bits. Everything was over processed. The nicest people ever! I used the app to order, which I do a lot. I usually just grab it and go and don't check it because it's always right. One day they didn't include my soup. So I called and they gave me my entire order again free! They also made my soup bigger and gave me a big cookie. They even wrote a personal note apologizing. With her help, we created a meal based on our preferences of sides, whether we wanted a sandwich or scoop, and an extra scoop can be substituted for your side. The fruit salad side was delicious. The Buffalo chicken salad had just the right about of tang and heat. Croissant melts were really good. If you like a lot of chicken salad I suggest you get an extra scoop as your side - my husband would have preferred more on his melt. I asked the poor girl at the register a ton of questions since I'm doing keto for my diabetes. She was able to pull out their nutritional info so I could check carbs and protein amounts. They even have a poster with info for folks with food allergies. To order you choose whether you want a sandwich or a scoop and then you can choose a side item (like chips), cup of soup or another scoop. I had the Buffalo Barcalay Chicken Salad (2 scoops) which is just the right amount of spicy along with a side of pimento cheese. They serve it on a bed of lettuce with a pickle, crackers & and small lemon cookie. I'm a pickle snob (Vlassic only please) but I ate the pickle and it was acceptable. I saved the carbs for my college aged son but looked at them lovingly. They have quite a few different chicken salad varieties and sandwiches some with everyone's favorite condiment- bacon! There is enough on the menu to satisfy most of the folks in your party and I need to make a point to come back and maybe take some home to eat later in the week. Since I didn't have a car, I decided to visit Chicken Salad as it was within a quick walk so I went there to get dinner that was hopefully healthier than the BBQ chain two doors down. My cashier was super friendly and patient. It takes me forever to read a menu and add to the fact I just got off a plane, I was exhausted and just ready to crash. The restaurant is in a great location of the shopping center, not easy to spot from the street, however within the parking lot it's vibrant and bold letter signs is easily spotted. Being that it is in the shopping center there I plenty of parking. When I first walked in there was a long line. So I was a little worried about the wait. This is a complicated review. Whereas I have to give kudos to a business model built on "chicken salad".. there is a little to be desired on a couple of fronts. First: the hype! Since I'm not a Luddite, I'm placing this squarely on the app. When I got there and made it to the drive up speaker, I was told to "come to the window." Wait! Do you want me to leave the line? There are 4 cars ahead of me. Do I jump the line? What about the guy at the window now? Do I pull in and block him in? Do I wait in line until I get there? It was incredibly confusing and the children working in there weren't helpful! Also annoying that I had to be asked by 4 different people, 4 different times if I had ordered online. Get your chicken sh#t together people. Overall, it was at least different from a burger or pizza but again, I could have done this at home for a fraction of the price (which could be said of almost ANY fast food) but It seemed a bit pricey for chicken salad.
