I love the food here, however, I tried their chicharrones dish for the very first time and was disappointed. I waited almost 1/2 hr to get a dish that was extremely blandmeat was tough and no flavor! I immediately went to Costco and bought me a slab of pork belly. The pic is my final product! Delicious. I'm looking for a restaurant that serves good crispy pork belly in Waldorf?

Not what I expected. No flavor this time

Update: Someone has responded to my review, seemingly defending the experience I had. No we did not pick our food up after the recommended time for p/u when I placed the order. We have young children and we like to feed them well before 9 so we definitely didn't come at closing time. Nonetheless as I said the experiences we've had since the fire are definitely less enjoyable. ------------Chicken Rico was once our families favorite no cooking night meal. Once they had that fire and did renovations, we have seen a big change in everything; the gravy is very watery now, the chicken has less flavor, the prices are higher. It's just not the same, unfortunately. In our most recent visit I called ahead and placed an order for Lomo saltado. My sister also placed an order for pick up of half chicken and sides, my husband went to pick up our orders and ordered the rest of our selections inside. He got two whole chickens and 3 large sides. He said they didn't have many side selections, only options available that evening were the mashed potatoes, mixed veggies and fried rice. My lomo saltado was dry, cold and not very appealing. I usually love it. The chicken was also pretty bland that day. We wasted a lot of food, I really wish the food was as good as it once was. Not sure what changed but it's something. The inside of the restaurant is also clean, lines are never too long when I go. Customer service is always good.

Came here on 11/16/24. Been to this location a couple of times and never had any issues in the past. But today was a different day. I guess they had a large catering order and wasn't prepared for it. I was hungry for there ribs and was told that it was a 45 minute wait. Chicken had a wait time as well. So I decided to on the Carne asada with black beans, rice and green beans. The steak was bland and very disappointing no seasoning and spice no where to be found. I was heavily disappointed since I have Eaten here numerous times. The sides were good which was the saving grace because that steak was an EPIC!!!!!!!!!! Fail. The restaurant is always clean and customer service is good as well. But, that steak was extreme let down.

Similar to Sardis or any other Peruvian chicken place.d I particularly like their rice. I can literally eat it as a meal. The chicken, egg, veggies, and various seasonings are addicting to say the least. Staff is always pleasant.

I pass by this spot whenever I'm in Waldorf. I've noticed that there is always a rack (a lot) of cars in their parking lot. It was just a matter of time before I stepped in their doors. For sides, French fries, yellow rice, black beans, plantain. Some Silvestre locations offer a few different menu items. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and French fries. The quesadilla came with a salad and sour cream but you can switch out the sour cream or salad for another side like rice or fries. Food came out so hot I had to wait for it to cool before eating it so that's a plus. Hot fresh French fries made me happy . And the cheese pull!!! Food was flavored just right. I do not like my food heavily salted but it did have perfect flavor. The home made sour cream was pretty good. Portion of food was very generous so unless you are starving you should have enough left over for another serving. They also have mild and hot sauces as well. You can add drinks like Everfresh and Calypso to your order or even rum cake. There are two small tables located inside but I wouldn't recommend eating in, there's a lot of traffic coming in and out and the place is pretty small. Parking is located directly in front. I'd recommend calling your order in if you're ordering after 5pm or on a weekend night.

Interior is nice, they could do without the 70 inch flatscreen screensaver in the back of the restaurant - otherwise liked the layout and decor. Service was a bit spotty, but very friendly. Bussing was top tier. We ordered about 6 items and were told "things will come out as they are ready". Great, I dig that type of service and we're in no hurry. We got our drinks about 5 minutes after we ordered them... and then 5 of the 6 dishes came out less than a minute after that. Not a good look. The final dish came out 2 minutes later, our table was completely out of room, they had to take our share plates. Definitely put a damper on a nice dinner, and the speed at which everything came out was... oddly quick for such a diverse order. Anyway, tostones were the best. Lomo saltado roll just tasted like a sweet Americanized sushi roll - didn't get any steak flavor really. Causas were okay. Ceviche was solid, no complaints. They had a take on bang bang shrimp, shrimp were cooked very well but way too much spicy mayo for our taste. Arroz con pollo was delightful, and a plentiful serving. Where there's smoke metal margarita was delicious. Pisco sours were absolute fire. Glad we tried it, but probably a one and done.

Though what I really like about the place changed. When I first went all they offered was Chicken, Cole slaw, and fries. In a world of many option I actually thought this sent a message that we are so good we only offer a limited choice that's you will enjoy. Tbf the fries can't compete w McD or Chikfila Waffle fries but they were good. The service counter is modernized and they are efficient and friendly. The layout if the restaurant is still basic like the limited menu they used to have. No frills no gimmicks just good food. Still the same vibe The chicken was still very good. Other places are fairly close but Apollo Rico is just a touch better. The charred seasoning is evident. What tipped the scales for me in comparison to other places I've been is the green sauce. It liked fresh. It wasnt like other places where that has the consistency of ketchup it looked bright green and freshly made vs other places where it seems as if it was poured out a container.
