Food - Salty today. I must've got some one's extra seasoning order by mistake. Crunchy. Golden. The rice & gravy is minute rice. Service - Mediocre Ambiance - Dark, Cozy, Small. We were packed in like sardines. No sitting area have to wait outside or in the 3 small card table chairs as waiting areas.

I'm going to try and make this a loving review. If you LOVE some good down south fried chicken...this is your go to place. It's not dine in and no drive through. So you have to go in and get your order. The lines are usually pretty long and the inside is fairly small, like a hole in the wall...but the chicken is literally being fried up every few minutes. Now...the customer service SUCKS big time. The few times I've went, the kinda heavy set dark complexion chick has always been the rudest. I went on the 24th of Dec 2024 at around ummm...4:30ish pm and I literally was in line behind 4 people. When it was my turn, I got to the counter and she walked smooth off. Didn't say hold on or nothing. Then she began prepping about 9 drinks and bagging other people's food. No acknowledgement or anything. So the other young lady, kind of light skin, she saw how I was just standing there for awhile and was like..."hey babes, what did you wanna order". I told her and she was like "I'll make your order for you but the other girl is gonna ring you up tho". It was so bad the brother behind me walked to the counter and offered her like 30 dollars just to get a 4 piece and fries so he could just bounce. I felt that. But when ol girl FINALLY came to ring me up, she was so bland, monotoned and offered no sorry for waiting or even acknowledgment. I will say the other young lady hooked me up. I ordered a 4 piece with rice n gravy and a pepper. Got to the car and I had 7 pieces of chicken with 2 rolls and like 5 peppers. So I ain't even mad. So if you're expecting great customer service and you know you're a person with a low tolerance for bad attitudes, don't come here. But if you're patient and want some good ol fresh, flavorful chicken....this is your spot!!!! Peace and love everyone who reads this review!! ‍

The Best Tasting Chicken in Houston Tx
Kevin C.

I want to say not only do they have the best tasting chicken in Houston Texas they have honest customer service and I say that part because I dropped my wallet on Weds buying chicken around 5:30 pm and couldn't find my wallet no where decided to go back to Chicken Plus on Thursday around 5pm asked about my wallet and they actually had it what! And the cash was all still there! If you know you know chicken plus just don't have the best chicken ever they have angels serving the chicken y'all the real MVPs Thank you Kevin Loyal customer since the doors first opened years years ago!

Receipt says 11:36 I didn't get my food until 12:50

Customer service was probably the worst experience I have ever faced. I waited over an hour for my food. The lady preparing the food moves with absolutely no sense of urgency.

We looked up family style chicken so we could have chicken and some sides and be able to sit down and eat and we stumbled upon Tumble 22. Let me tell you we were not disappointed. It's here in the Heights off of Houston Avenue and Washington. And we were greeted and seated immediately. Our server Zeid (so?!) brought our new little server in training Johan and once we went over the menu and decided what we wanted to do for appetizers we ordered the heavenly deviled eggs. Do not pass that up - they are heavenly. The devil part is so good and the bacon on top absolutely delicious. And they came out right away. So we ordered the 1/2 mix. That came with a large breast and thigh and a drumstick and a wing. You get two sides with it which we ordered the collard greens and the mac & cheese. Then it came with cute little bread and butter pickles stuck on top of it. That chicken was so crispy and so hot because it came right out of the fire. And the collard greens were very good. They had turkey in them and just all kinds of stuff. The mac & cheese was really creamy very good. And it was enough for both of us to share. And it was only $17. I could not believe it. We like to always try a little bit of everything. So there are different levels of heat you can get on your chicken and we just got the regular traditional. But next time I think we're gonna try the one up with the little jalapeño in it. So then for dessert, my husband got the chocolate pecan toffee pie. And it is Chuck full of pecans and toffee and chocolate in there. It came out cold and it was delicious. I got the peanut butter chocolate mousse pie. But I got that to go, so I'll let you know later how that is, but it looked delicious. So we had a lemonade which was freshly made and tea and that large meal of chicken and sides and two desserts and our appetizer and it was only $45. . I'll tell you what if you want to have a great meal not expensive they've got kids menus that are a lot less because kids tend to waste so they're small enough that I think my grandkids would eat them with no problem. But the chicken was really good. We will definitely be back. Check them out and tell them Miss Lou sent you

The host/person, sitting our party of 4, didn't bother to ask if we wanted a booth or table. They tried to sit us right in the front at a table for 6 while there were several booths/tables for 4 available (more to come about this later). The server took our drink order (soda/water) and they couldn't remember who ordered what. The soda machine was directly behind us so they didn't have to go very far to get them. 2 of us ordered The O. G. (1 w/o mayo), the other 2 people order the Tupelo Hot Honey, and the Dive Burger. All but 1 ordered French fries the other ordered Mac and Cheese. The food came out quickly. The issue when they brought out our food is that they had a hard time letting us know which chicken sandwich was which. The person who ordered the burger was underwhelmed. They said it was good, but not anything extraordinary. They did enjoy their Mac and Cheese. As we were eating our food the host sat a couple at that table for 6 and as they were waiting on their food a larger party came in. Had the couple not offered to move they wouldn't have been able to sit the larger party. Overall, the food was great, but the service could be better. Will be back to try their grilled version of their chicken sandwiches.

We both ordered the two-piece meal, which comes with baked beans, coleslaw, and a piece of bread. I loved EVERYTHING! The breading on the chicken was unlike anything I've had before. It was perfectly crispy, flavorful, and had just the right amount of kick! The baked beans were honestly the best I've ever had. They were sweet with a little hint of spice, which I loved! We also ordered the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. I don't typically order these, so I don't have much to compare them to, but I thought they were good! The breading was flavorful, stayed intact, and had a nice crispiness to it. They also came with ranch, which was a nice touch! The service was excellent throughout our visit. Everyone was consistently attentive, friendly, and helpful without being overbearing. One fun perk of this location is that if you purchase a drink and bring your cup back on your next visit, your drink is FREE! My husband and I love collecting cups from local restaurants, so we thought this was such a fun little bonus! The restaurant itself was clean and had some really cool Houston memorabilia displayed on the walls, which was fun to look at. There was also plenty of parking, even during Saturday lunchtime! Overall, we had such a great first experience dining in! Between the delicious food, friendly service, and fun atmosphere, I can definitely see us coming back. And I'm already thinking about those baked beans!!

I enjoyed their fried chicken, which for around $12, came with a thigh and leg, along with ample amounts of coleslaw and fried okra. Even I, as a voracious eater, could not finish all the sides. The chicken itself was beautifully fried in peanut oil, and truly one of the best, juiciest, fried chicken pieces I have ever had. This place is an example of simplicity at its finest. If you are in Houston and craving some down to earth fried chicken, Gus's is the place to go!

A big open lot with some food trucks and 2 random benches. Makes for a good late night dining spot after a night out. Standard hot chicken lineup with the sandwich, strips, combo, fries. I liked the halal options. The wrap with turnips did entice me a bit but went for the Sandwich + a side order of pecked fries. The service was efficient, got it out in about 10minutes. I liked the curry seasoning to the fries, the chicken was battered well and had a solid crunch/flavor. The sandwich itself is also a straightforward classic = standard brioche bun + pickles for garnish and a decent sized breast. I would say the "yummy sauce" is just a bit overwhelming for me, it's just everywhere when I unwrapped the sandwich.. It was a bit too creamy for my taste. Overall I liked the chicken and the menu for being halal, it was cooked well and the adjustable spice level is nice. But the Yummy sauce is sort of a miss for me. Not sure what's in it but too rich, 3.5/5, didn't quite stand out for me.

Say less (and no, I wasn't high, I swear lol). I was watching the app like a hungry hawk and the order took a little while to prepare. And then my dasher had the audacity to stop and drop someone else's food off first. Man, wtf. I was too hungry for all that. I ordered the Urban Fries with Nashville hot chicken. It came loaded with fries, white cheddar-looking mac and cheese, fried chicken pieces, and some kind of sauce over everything. Very much one of those "throw the whole kitchen sink in there" type dishes. To be fair, because of the late delivery and extra stop, I'm not judging too hard on the temperature, but thankfully it still had a little heat left. The fries were actually really good. The mac and cheese felt a little carb overkill, but that seems standard with these loaded-style dishes. The only thing I didn't love was there was a sweetness in the flavor somewhere. Maybe in the sauce but that didn't work for me. It was this weird sweet note coming through the spice that kept throwing me off. Overall though, solid late-night food for 3am lol. Thanks for satisfying my middle of the night hunger pangs. I'd probably give them another try during respectable business hours and see how it hits fresh.

I finally made the trek over to the actual location and they did NOT disappoint. They're not open everyday. I got here and the line was pretty long. The line was long, but they are literally making plates to order and really fast. Impressively fast. The brisket was a little over cooked, but the chopped brisket, ribs , sausage, potato , potato salad and green beans all were fire. Hence the review still getting 5 stars. The ribs were tender. Fell off the bone. Even at the moment I don't know why that potato was so big, but who am I to question such delicious foods. A note for me mainly and anyone else who enjoys sauce get the sauce on the food and some on the side. Or make sure you get extra on the side. In comparison to my meat portion I needed way more sauce. Maybe 2 cups instead of one. I didn't get sauce on my food. The customer service was good, the guys were helpful and made the food so fast. Definitely worth the trek over here. Thank you Triple J
