Come for the food, stay for the folks…read more Recently moved to Upstate NY and decided I should go on a chicken wing tour of the area. I mean, these people know wings. Running errands in this area and dropped in to try Memphis King's (1st time visit) I always get the same wings (hot buffalo) at each restaurant/bar to keep things fair. Memphis King's wings are smoked, then fried. I've found that you lose a lot of smoke flavor when they're fried to order but these had just the right amount still present. Very tasty. And crispy! (a lot of smoked wings are grilled but, while delicious, it doesn't render enough of the skin to make them crispy and I like crisp!) I've sampled wings from about 30 places (so far) and I would whole heartedly put Memphis King's in my top 10 for sure. Looking forward to trying their other items because their burnt ends look great. As does the house made pastrami *droooool* As for the people, the gal in front of house was wonderful. And the chef (not sure if he was the owner or not) was so nice. Kept checking in on me to see how everything was and kept offering me suggestions and samples. Not pushy, just smart business because I'm 100% gonna go back.

We drove away to start ordering pizzas and wings because he w has family coming over in 1 hour and has no food for them. We received a call back and were given a story and excuse regardless it certainly was not what we ordered. We've had the food in the past and thought it was award winning but we will not be returning and will be sharing this with friends & family so they don't have the same catastrophic situation arise with this business. We should've ordered through Meat & Company in Niskayuna.

(That's not a bad thing) Ya Yas is conveniently located in downtown Schenectady near State street on an unassuming corner you would pass easily if not paying attention. No worries, though there's plenty of parking and even a parking garage next door. I went on a slow Thursday night and was met with the owner who I assume was Ya Ya herself. She immediately greeted me with the house specials along with the homemade sides. I ordered the 1/2 chicken breast, collard greens, yams and corn bread the perfect southern food combo. I'd never tried collard greens but they were tasty and felt like a cross between spinach and Brussels sprouts. The bill was reasonable at $18 with plenty of food so you definitely won't go home hungry when leaving Ya Yas. If you're in the mood for some southern hospitality in Upstate NY, give this place a try I will definitely be back.

But we were driving through town and my husband said he wanted fried chicken and I said we're finally gonna go eat lunch at yayas. So yeah he got the fried chicken meal with yams, cornbread, Mac salad, and string beans. I got the fried catfish with the same sides. Everyone working was so kind and came to check on us. The food was sooo good. I had enough leftovers to bring home dinner too.

After reading this food critics article -- "I Asked 6 Chefs…read morefor the Best Fast Food Fried Chicken, and This Classic Won by a Landslide" By Karla Walsh Allrecipes I headed to the closest Popeyes to pick up lunch for my 20 year old grandson and me. The article is based on critiquing nationally available fast food fried chicken. Six experts selected a winner, and it was Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen by a landslide. Here is their justification: "When it comes to fast food fried chicken, no one does it better than Popeyes. They've really nailed the salty, peppery, crispy coating, adored by this Southerner. Plus, Popeyes chicken is always juicy and tender, even the breast pieces, which are often dry at fast food places. The moistness they are talking about is likely due to the 12-hour marinade the brand boasts about on its website." Another Excerpt -- "Popeyes' crust really knocks it out of the park. It has the crispiest breading that's never soggy, greasy, or underseasoned." No wonder Popeyes came out on top during our team's taste test, too." At the drive thru, we picked up our order of Crispy Chicken with Louisiana Seasoning and Wings. Shortly after, we concluded that the fried chicken was even better than KFC and way better than Chick Fil A. We agreed with the experts who wrote the article. In addition, the bone in and boneless Wings from Popeyes were also excellent. And the Sauces! The Mardis Gras and the Sweet Heat dipping sauces were outstanding.

They work so hard and it all gets missed because the front house service is that terrible. The ladies at the registers do not care if you have been standing there for more than five minutes before they acknowledge you and when they do they give the feeling as though you have bothered them. It really is sad because we have been going to this Popeyes for over 10 years but we stopped about 2 months back because of the terrible service. Mobile ordering is a sham here because they will say the order is fulfilled five minutes after placing said order but then you get there you have to wait another 30 minutes. When you do get your food, it is never correct. I have never reviewed another restaurant but I had to for this Popeyes because of how bad their service has gotten. All the credit for good food goes to the cooks in the back! Your cooks do an amazing job!
