In drive thru about 3 weeks ago bad service food so so, called next day, manager comped us our meal, we have not had a chance to go back, I went thru drive thru today for a quick bite, customer service still not up to par. I normally really like chicken express but this is the worst one I've ever been too. The food was cold and with no flavor except for old oil. the chicken strips were extra stringy and the Mac and cheese tasted like it had been sitting for hours before we got it. Waited 35 minutes for our food. People in front of us had been there 41 minutes and then asked for a refund. They were only filling drive through orders and the 5 different inside tables just waited. People would come in and no one would wait on them. Very rude. When we finally got our food the chicken was great but the fries were limp and cold. Didn't even want to give them one star. I went last week. Litterally 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me at the counter. The same girl that finally acknowledged me after she looked directly at me several times asked me if I was eating here or to go. I said here. She then walks completely off. Then another girl comes to the register looks at the screen and says "ok is that it" and I replied " no I have not even placed my order". My wife and I walked in on a Sunday around 6pm. We were promptly greeted and spoken to by the employee taking orders. The manager who was also around (which is always nice seeing a manager getting involved) also greeted us and asked us how we were doing. My wife ordered went ahead and placed her order, I took a little more time and apologized for taking time and the employee very friendly told me it was okay and there wasn't a rush. After we ordered our food, we got our drinks, and wow their sweet tea is amazing southern SWEET tea. The drink station and the entire restaurant was spotless very clean. The food came really quickly and smelled amazing. The tenders tasted so much better than what I've tried other places such as Raisin Canes, Zaxby's, or even Popeyes. Had a taste for some really good chicken. I ordered 2 pc breast and wing with fries. Received my food and to my surprise my chicken was not even warm let alone hot. It was a 6:00p.m.really. I informed staff that I would like hot chicken and was told it would be 25 minutes. I can cook chicken at my house in 20. Is the grease NOT HOT?? Wow!! I will not be back thats for sure. We used to really enjoy this but the last 2 times were not good. We previously ordered gizzards and they were so hard, they were completely unedible. Tonight, we ordered an 8 piecemeal. We got 1 breast, 1 leg, 1 thigh, and the rest were wings. Old dry wings at that. We got a 6 peice hot wing - they were good but they were made to order. $28.00. The place is brand new, I decided to check it out. I got there at about 11:30 on a Saturday and went inside, the dining room was empty, but there was a car in the drive thru. I was standing in front of the 2 registers they have, all employees were in the back doing their thing and I was looking at their menu. I found what I was going to have and waited for someone to acknowledge my presence and ask how they could help me... 6 minutes and no one ever said hi, hello...nothing, So I left stopping by the drive thru to let them know how disappointed I was. Chicken Express just beat out Popeyes as my favorite fried chicken fast food place. Good size pieces with excellent crunchy crust. Lots of different sides to chose too. Excellent French Fries! Stopped in at the new Chicken Express in CONROE on opening day. Never dined at one of these before so this was my first experience. It was an impeccable first impression. The service was top notch and the food was delicious. The owners are brother-in-laws and they both were out in the dining area visiting with the customers. We visited with Trey, one of the owners, and he was a very nice guy. I was impressed by their hospitality and desire to get to know their customers. They are family men who want to serve and be involved in the community. They were well staffed, were quick to serve us and the food was ready quick. No waiting. Every staff member had a smile and were continually checking in with the customers to make sure their experience was a good one. If you needed a refill, ketchup, seasoning, plasticware, etc, they were there to serve you. Very polite and nice. The facility is brand new and very clean. The food was very good and they had menu items for every appetite and budget. Besides the chicken, the rolls and cookies were my favorite! read more

Ordered my food and the 4 people behind me all got their food first. After 10 minutes I went to the counter to check on my order and they said "oh, they are cooking it right now." I went to the new location in Conroe off of 336, at 5:00 pm when I got off work. Went thru the drive, I ordered a 16 piece family meal. I was asked what 3 sides I wanted and I told them. They told me to hold on, she comes back and tells me they don't have any sides. It'll be a 20 minute wait. I just drove off, as I was pulling out 3 cars were turning in. We love the food but I just left for the 2nd time this month because of a 20min wait for chicken. Only 2 other people ahead of me both times. This place only sells chicken so how could they not have chicken? The answer is poor management and that will close a good restaurant quickly! They have really good chicken and sides if you are lucky and get it fresh. I have stopped there about 10 times only to get a good meal about 3 times. The problem is they cook too much ahead of orders it sets under heat lamps and get rubbery and dried out. The fries are cold and dry. The staff was fast and friendly. The guy in the car in front of me was being extremely rude (yelling and cursing) to the girls inside, because they dropped his card on the floor, after they gave him his card back, he refused to pay for his food and continued to curse at the staff.
