Made an online order. Took 45 minutes before I could pick up my food. I got a 4 piece chicken tender meal and a 3 piece chicken meal. Tenders were OK but the chicken meal was absolutely terrible. I managed to force down the piece i was eating and I threw the rest away, which says alot because im not picky at all. I can't say with 100% certainty that the chicken was contaminated but for the next 24 hours I was very unwell and was violently expelling the contents of my stomach from my backside. Ive eaten there previously and it was decent but after this experience I will never ever eat food from there again. Ordered lunch at the northside abilene location. Drumstick okra roll and tea was delivious. Unfortunately the breast i had ordered wasnt a breast it was the all bone back of the chicken which had very little meat and was either overcooked or old. The drumstick was quite small and my lid wasnt on the cup very well so spilled some on me. Wasnt worth 11 dollars to me. read more

According to the other reviews, this place has gone downhill and needs some serious changes. Management, do you care? We came at lunch, and it was really busy. Some kind of school function was going on, and there were high school kids from all over. When we finally got our orders, everything was hot and crispy. Tender pieces were kind of small and we all had to get more gravy since what we were served just wasn't enough. I like their catfish and the corn nuggets are to die for. We assumed that they had been cooked and sat under the heater for a while, because it was mostly inedible. I used to go almost every day to this restaurant. The iced tea was the best in town, and the service was great. Unfortunately, all of this has changed. The tea is 9 out of 10 times, NOT the way you ordered, and tastes old, and the soda and powerade have too much syrup. Also, the word 'Express' should be taken out of the name. N. 10th (We're regular customers.) yesterday and since there was a long line at the drive-thru, and they take eight minutes from the time you order to cook the fish fillet dinners, I went inside to order. * After 25-30 minutes they brought me my to go orders (because they gave the fish I ordered to someone going through the drive-thru that ordered fish several minutes after I had ordered. * When I arrived home I discovered that they had left out 3 of the 4 sides I ordered with the dinners. * When I returned to the store, they handed me a sack with 2 of the 3 sides... still omitting one of the sides. * Of course, the fish fillets and one side they had given me originally would be cold by the time I reached home again, so I told them they needed to remake the whole order. * The manager said they could refund my money OR remake the order... being hungry, I asked them to remake the order.... for which I waited another 10-12 minutes. ? read more

This will be the last time I go to this restaurant. They close at 10pm and me and my family were pushed (quite literally) out of the door at 9pm. By 8pm (when we first arrived) they had already stacked chairs on top on the tables in half of the restaurant and were mopping. At 9pm, before we have finished eating, an employee stood by our table with a tray and instructed us to put our trash on the tray. As soon as we were pushed out of the restaurant, he locked the doors. I will be going to Busch's (which is literally next door) from now on. Apparently the current manager is on vacation. Management, Corporate.....come save your store on EN 10th! I just finished the last meal I will eat here. It literally took 25 mins to get one piece of chicken and one ear of corn! Chicken was greasy and corn was anything but hot. Attitude of the cashier was not service oriented as customers behind me were voicing there frustration. This place use to be decent. Chicken overcooked and left out until it got dry. Everything was cold. Nothing good about this place anymore. To top it off, absolutely no customer service available through management. We stopped in on October 19, 2019 around 5:45pm. We asked for fresh tenders and were assured that "they just came up". I should have called them out on that because it was pretty dead when we got there (two cars in the parking lot, and maybe two in the drive thru). Food came out and the chicken was overcooked and not at all fresh. Some of the tenders had all the moisture of a piece of jerky. Others were grainy/chalky. Fries were cold, and the rolls where almost doughy. Further, they gave my wife a couple of pieces that would barely qualify as a nugget, and tried to pass them off as tenders. So she had 2 tenders, and 3 tiny little bites. These are things that should be caught by the person play in GB the food and should never be allowed to make it to a customer. Lastly, what happened to the size of the tenders? They used to be meaty and were filling. It would be accurate to call them "fingers" because they are literally about the same size as an adult finger. Not much to them. We called and asked the store about a refund or replacement, but there's apparently some unwritten and unposted rule that you should tell them on the spot or they won't help you at all. Not sure how that works if your meal was placed as a to-go order. I definitely didn't see any posted signs that say you have to talk to them in-store in order to get any kind of help. I guess they just didn't feel like being helpful? It's a shame, the North 10th location used to be the best chicken in town, and I would go out of my way to go there whenever I could. Now I drive by it at least once a week and typically avoid it. Tonight's experience will certainly help to quell my random cravings. It's especially bad when Raising Cane's has chicken cooked to order and it's always fresh and delicious. My husband picked up food from the drive thru and this isn't the first time this has happened but at this point it has happened so many times now that we will probably never go back to chicken Express. They forgot part of our order and we live outside of town. We aren't wasting gas to drive back for our missing food. How hard is it to do your job in fast food? Seriously?! We called and they couldn't even give us a refund. WTF?! They said "oh well, we can write it down", like what good is that going to do for us?! Also, they can't even give the food that we ordered. ENOUGH WITH THE SALT!!! I've eaten here several times over the years, but I may have to stop because I'm not a fan of having a little chicken with my salt. Bad service. Periodt. The lady was throwing our food onto the counter instead of handing it to us kindly. She couldn't even make eye contact before throwing it. I understand we came in a large group and things felt a little rushed but at least have some decency and have better manners. I was in Abilene visiting an elderly relative who lives in a nursing home. She was craving fried chicken so I took her to Chicken Express. She has to travel with a portable oxygen tank and mobility issues but I couldn't bring a wheelchair. The team members were great. One came out to help me get her inside and another helped when it was time to leave. Even though I parked right by the door and she only had to walk a few steps it was still an ordeal to with the oxygen tank. Thank you so much for being such caring people!
