My husband and I were passing through at lunch time and found this place on yelp and gave it a try. My husband got the shrimp and fish over rice, I got the shrimp po boy, but we sampled each other's. Both were delicious! Loads of fried shrimp on the po boy. Grilled shrimp on the other. Friendly owner and other employee. Highly recommend. If we ever pass through again we'll be sure to stop. So it's now Jan 2023 and we stopped again on our way to New Orleans and they were closed! Today is Sunday and they are closed Sunday and Monday now. So Disappointed! I love hole in the wall family restaurants! I kept seeing the great reviews and had to try it. Very friendly and polite folks. The ghetto burger intrigued me, may have been the best burger I've had all year! A big Hand patty, with good produce, messy & awesome! The hot wings were good too. We stumbled on this gem about 3 years ago on our way to New Orleans. The online reviews were fantastic so we decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint! Everything was hot, fresh, well seasoned and amazingly delicious! We were worried on our way through Picayune this year that they may have closed because of the pandemic, but we were so excited to see that they still open in a bigger space! I just ordered a shrimp poboy and there was a piece of mystery FISH with BONES in my shrimp poboy. I am so disgusted that I threw everything else we ordered in the trash. How did that happen? I think I ate part of it because my second bite was fishy which I just thought was an off shrimp but then this strange flat piece fell out. I inspected it and broke it in half and that's what I saw. There was also a worm looking thing that was in the fish. I am thoroughly disgusted. Is the shrimp breaded here or is it breaded at some factory and frozen? What a waste of money. Stopped here based on the reviews. It was surprisingly good. The burger wasn't that great, but the Surf n Turf fries were great and so were the chicken wings. It was definitely better than most gas station food places and we would come here again on our annual road trip. read more

Conveniently located just off I-59 in an Exxon gas station. It's a small clean restaurant with delicious food. We were lured to that restaurant by its Yelp reviews, and after our meal, we fully agree with its 4+ star rating. It's not a place for healthy eating, but that's why the food tasted good, full of cheeses and deep-fried. It's for the intrepid diner. I couldn't decide what to order because many of the choices looked really good...there were photos of the food along the walls. At the end I ordered its namesake, "Chick N Stick." It was chunks of chicken strung on a stick alternately with slices of potatoes, bell peppers and onions. It was deep-fried, served with a choice of condiments - ranch dressing, ketcup, etc. I also ordered a side of white beans "smothered" down with sausage. It was delicious! And for something healthy, collard greens. That was also very good. Next time I'm getting shrimp and fish with garlic butter rice...or the ghetto burger. My partner ordered the Philly fries, sliced steak, cheese, on po'boy bread plus french fries. He enjoyed that a lot. We were very pleased with our food. The restaurant's owner/chef was very friendly and nice. He came out to see how we were enjoying our meal Other diners in the restaurant were returning customers. Philly fries are RIDICULOUS!!!! I normally eat healthy but these were worth every bite of being bad! If you made it this far you have probably figured out it is in a gas station. Don't let that deter you. They have their own area with a cafe/dining tables. The food is worth it. Service was good. Even with the phone ringing and other patrons coming in the cashier was patient with me and recommended some of her favourites and popular items. She recommended the surf and turf fries so I got them without the surf = Philly fries. I also got an order of wings. The fries were more than a meal so I just tasted my wings. Passing through picayune, we decided to visit based off of reviews! We saw the chick on the stick sign but kept going because we did not see a place that looked like restaurant! We called and the guy said to come into the gas station So we were like the ? I told my sister I don't know about the gas station! I had to look at the pics of the food to convince myself to go in! We went in and we were surprised! It was a small space with a dining area, kitchen etc! The owner explained the menu and his many delicacies! I decided on the white beans, cornbread and garlic Parmesan wings! Omg! Is all I have to say! Being from New Orleans, we are big food critics! The food was absolutely delish! The beans were dripping in flavor! The wings were hot and had flavor throughout! Even the sweet tea was good! let me tell you that Majority of everyone from New Orleans are picky about hot sausage, but guess what y'all! He had Patton's hot sausage! The hot sausage Poboy was out of sight! The philly fries were yummy! My sister haven't drank koolaid in years and she said it was perfect! I would highly recommend this spot! Upon pulling in following my maps directions, I thought I had been misguided to Ihop. As I looked around and went back to the reviews that had driven me to try this place out, I realized it was located inside of a gas station. Walking inside, it doesn't have the best presentation but the young lady at the register was extremely friendly and even though it was a little after 10am, they served their full menu (in case I didn't want breakfast). I ordered the big breakfast: 2 pancakes, bacon, biscuit and cheese grits. After I was informed that they make everything homemade, I asked the lady at the register could she ask the cook to attempt to make my pancakes thin. Obviously, that was too much to ask, I could tell by the response of the young lady's face. The pancakes came out thick and doughy (hence why I prefer them thin), bacon was crispy (I received extra bacon because I didn't get eggs) biscuit (wasn't a fan) but the cheese grits were amazing. read more

So my wife and I visited this restaurant today and were greeted by a very rude lady at the front register. Simply put, I ask if the shrimp po'boy came in a 12 inch or just one size...she just looked at me and said nothing. Of course, I was perplexed. She turned to the young girl at the cash register and said if anyone comes in that " looks suspicious ", use this pen...one that you check paper money with and make sure to mark their money. I've personally never had any treatment of this sort before in my life, and neither has my wife. Of course, my wife said to me quietly let's go and I agreed because we didn't want anyone making our food with that kind of hostility going on. The only thing that I can figure is she looked at my shirt more than once...it has an American flag on it. My wife and I both proudly served in the military. I am hoping this isn't something of that nature but don't know what else it could have been. My wife said the same thing when we got back in the vehicle to leave. We are clean living, hard-working decent people. I'm writing this because people need to know beforehand so they aren't treated the same way. I'm sure they have their regulars and that's all good. The "loaded fries" are LOADED with crispy fries & you can add chicken, shrimp, steak, pork for more delicious tastes. The fish & shrimp over garlic rice. The fish was cook just right - very moist. The yams were sweet & yummy. No, I did not share. The pork chop po-boy was huge on fresh bread. It was not some thin, tough chop, rather a thick sized one which tasted beyond good. At first I was nervous about eating in what looks like a gas station. But when we got here the menu looked tasty. Then the chef came out and was so passionate about his food that we each ate a different daily special. I had the surf and turf fries which were fries, with steak and shrimp and ranch and mozzarella. A heavenly heart attack. My wife had Hawaiian chicken and shrimp sub which she also loved. Our friend had the Cajun pasta which was actually really good. Overall pleasant surprises all around. When this place opened up in the gas station, it was BANGING! Then they moved a few streets over and upgraded. The food is still good but the quantity isn't what it use to be.
