My friends and I make it a point to get together once a month for cigars, a cold drink, dominoes,…read moreand a healthy amount of smack talk about sports and the good old days. We rotate locations to keep it fair, and last month brought us to Doral. We started at a cigar shop, wandered into Sports Grill Doral... and never left. At first glance, it feels like a classic sports bar. But spend a little time there and you realize it's operating on a different level. The food is outstanding, the beer selection is strong (especially if you're into IPAs), every major game is covered across wall-to-wall screens, and they even have a DJ on certain nights. What really sets it apart is the service. The manager, Manny, and his team created an experience that felt intentional, not transactional. When they saw we wanted to play dominoes, they didn't hesitate. They set us up with a proper table on the terrace so we could enjoy cigars, order cocktails, and settle in for the night without feeling rushed. That level of awareness and flexibility is rare. If you're in the Doral area and want a place that delivers on food, drinks, atmosphere, and experience, this is it. Whether you're catching a game or running a few rounds of dominoes, this spot earns a return visit.

For example, I got the "sports burger" as an entree but had no idea what toppings/sauce came on it. I got a side of fries, which could've used salt, and asked for a side of BBQ sauce to which they ran out of... on a Friday with a big football game happening. Service was on and food was ok at best. If you're looking for a quick bite, I'm sure this place is good but if you're looking for a proper meal, not sure it's "the place" to go. Also, bring a sweatshirt. The place is VERY cold.

Fresh, Massive Bowls Right Across from FIU…read more If you are looking for a solid spot near Florida International University that moves beyond the standard fast-casual chain, The Green Chicken is a great find. It's located right across the road from campus, making it an easy win for students or anyone in Sweetwater looking for a reliable, healthy-ish meal. The interior is pretty standard--a nondescript, counter-service setup designed for efficiency. However, the outdoor seating area is where this place really shines. It is well-shaded and shielded from the Florida sun, creating an inviting space whether you're meeting up with friends or need a spot to pop open the laptop and get some work done. The menu is surprisingly expansive, but the best way to describe the experience, at least for what I ordered, is an elevated Chipotle bowl. I went with the Jerk Chicken bowl over black beans (no rice). The Chicken had a nice, clean flavor. It wasn't seasoned to the extreme, so if you're looking for a massive spice kick, you might want to ask for extra sauce, but the quality of the meat was clear. The black beans were cooked perfectly, and all the veggie add-ins were crisp and fresh. The staff here is incredibly friendly and they clearly pride themselves on the "heavy hand"--the portions are huge. You definitely won't leave hungry. It's a great local alternative when you want something fresh, fast, and substantial.

Ended up pulling up to this quaint little spot in Sweetwater, Miami. It was busy, but not packed to the point where you feel overwhelmed. Now listen... if we're driving an hour, we're not playing it safe. We ordered a little bit of everything because we needed to know if worth coming back. The chopped cheese? Whew. Cheesy, flavorful, and just straight-up good. The chicken burrito looked exactly like what we saw on IG (love when that happens), and it was stuffed with all the goodness. Flavor on point, no skimping. Even the fries had flavor. We split six wings (which also came with fries, wish we knew because we definitely doubled up ), and added yuca... which we probably didn't need, but I'm glad we did because it was . And that sauce? Yeah, it did what it needed to do. Washed it all down with strawberry kiwi lemonades that were super refreshing, not too sweet, just right to balance out all that food. Long story short, definitely worth the drive, and yeah... we'll be back.

I think that if they had a variety selection of cheesesteak maybe it would have been better like cooper sharp, cheddar or sharp provolone cheeses as additional choices. The flavor of the wagyu was very good. So overall it was an enjoyable sandwich. Good service and I really admired the atmosphere of the place. It was very old school and retro with the arcades in the place.

This was still a horrendous experience from start to finish…read more We arrived around 3:45 PM and were told to seat ourselves. Since we have a 1-year-old, we chose a table in the back where other guests were already seated. That section was split between two servers, and somehow neither one took responsibility for our table. We sat for nearly 20 minutes with no greeting, no drinks, and no acknowledgment until I had to get up and find a manager. The biggest issue here is the complete lack of communication among staff. It was obvious the servers were working their own tables but not communicating with each other. At the very least, the server who was clearly attentive to the tables directly across from us could have alerted her coworker that a new table had been sitting unattended. That basic level of teamwork was missing. To be fair, once our assigned server, Melanie, finally addressed us, she did apologize for the delay and acknowledged the lack of communication. I appreciate that. However, an apology at the end does not erase the fact that it took far too long to even be acknowledged. It is now 4:30 PM and everyone in my party has received their food except for me. Waiting 45 minutes while the rest of your table eats is unacceptable. This experience points to poor coordination and weak floor management. Customers should not have to chase down staff to receive basic service. There are too many other options to justify returning after an experience like this.
