Spicy Chicken Sandwich or is it a soft shell crab?
    Joe S.

This Chick-Fil-A at Colonialtown Center was kind of a let down. We had to go to Fashion Square Mall which can't be more of a let down as exceptions are low. But when one of the arguably "best" fast food restaurants disappoints, it's not a good sign. First, why is this place so popular? I don't get it. It's not bad but not wait in super long lines all day long worthy. (Chicken Fire across the street is). Luckily, we arrived then went inside to order and eat, only to find out Dine-In was closed. What? They had some outside tables so it wasn't that big of a deal, but it made going in and ordering a cluster as everyone was huddling around waiting for the food instead of sitting spaced out in a restaurant. DUMB! The food was OK. My spicy chicken sandwich was VERY oddly shaped and looked more like a soft shelled crab instead of a chicken breast. This from the supposed king of chicken sandwiches. And why is their grilled chicken so much expensive than the fried? I think it's a smaller piece of chicken too. Anyway, This was convenient to where we were going, the inside line wasn't bad, but not having dine-in was a huge miss.

Oh boy! Not all Chick-fil-A's are created equal. I noticed that this restaurant was closed down for renovations for a little bit of time. I don't frequent this area, so when I do, I notice it. Unfortunately, they missed the mark for me today. The design of the drive-through is absolutely horrible. It backs up from the right side of the drive-through because you have to wait for people to exit and it is a short distance from a stop sign. Once someone got to me to order, I placed my order and went to pay. She said that she was not taking payment and that the person up front will take payment from me. I waited a total of 20 minutes in the line and the associates were all walking in between the cars, they seemed as if they did not know what they were doing. I am not sure how long this location has reopened but they definitely need some training. Maybe they should take some tips from the Waterford Lakes location. Once I got to the area to pay, the boy was not very friendly and I gave him my card and had my phone out to scan for my rewards and he took the payment first and I said can you Scan my rewards, he said you need to give this to me first. I have never had a Chick-fil-A employee talk to me like that, but it's OK. He was a kid. I finally get to the front to get my food and someone else is standing with my food that has been standing there probably for a little bit because I did not see him move. Once I got to the window, I asked for extra sauce and the girl told me that it was in the bag, how would she know if there was extra sauce? AnyWho, I received my food and got ready to eat it. I ordered the eight piece nuggets, this does not constitute as Eight pieces does it? The waffle fries were not full and they were cold. Total disappointment today. Sad lunch.

This review is specifically based on Chick-fil-A's as you all know fast food and commercial restaurants compared to our local fun weigh differently. That being said welcome to the best Chick-fil-A in the metropolitan East Orlando area. I have been to several Chick-fil-A's in the area and gladly will drive out of the way to this one. Five stars when it comes to quality, customer service, and speed. I know at the start of the pandemic the road was rocky but I have to say they held it together better than most. Even implementing a "Don't block the drive thru" area for cars queuing into the order line and completed orders able to drive out. I want to specifically point out that the integrity at this location is real. Whenever I order extra crispy fries they always have me pull to the front (which makes sense). I have never been let down. My bag is filled crispy perfection and never burnt crumbs. The inside is typically maintained well, the cashiers are always courteous, and I never have to worry about sauces, utensils, and the order being correct in the drive thru. Even though I still check (side lip mutter)! Its so nice that this location has an entrance from three major lights and the convenience of tons of parking. Thanks Chick-fil-A for your crispy waffle fries, cold kale salads, and fresh lemonade!

The Cobb salad is always delicious! The service was fast despite them being pretty busy. The room was not too loud.

    Mold on the fry.

First the drive-through takes way longer then it used to. Pre Covid you can get in and out but now plan 10 or more minutes. Been a hand full of times the past 2 weeks and it's almost painful. It's not like the other locations that zip you in and out. On top of this the fryes May have something issues. Take a look at the following picture. Is it mold? Is it internal growth? Who knows how many I ate while driving but hope I live though the night. At lest the normal chicken sandwiches was good.

That's what made this one sting a little. Let me set the stage. I pull up to the Kissimmee location already knowing what I'm getting. This place has one job. Chicken. Not a massive menu. Not a bunch of distractions. Just chicken, fries, toast, slaw. Simple. Focused. The kind of setup where you expect consistency every single time. And then the tray hit the table. The chicken? Bland. Like no one introduced it to seasoning. And somehow also soggy. You know that moment when you bite in expecting that crispy crunch and instead you get... soft confusion? Yeah. That. It honestly felt like the oil wasn't hot enough. Which is kind of a big deal when frying is your entire identity. Now here's where it gets even more frustrating. Cane's sauce is usually the safety net. It can cover a lot of sins. Underseasoned chicken? Fine. Dip it, save it, move on. But it cannot fix texture. It cannot create crunch out of thin air. And when the crisp isn't there, the whole thing falls flat. The fries didn't do much to help the situation. Underdone. Under salted. Just kind of there. Taking up space. Not offensive, just disappointing. Like they almost made it to the finish line and then decided to clock out early. And here's the part that really gets me. When you only do one thing, you have to nail it. Every time. No excuses. No off days. No close enough. This isn't a diner with a 10-page menu. This is chicken. How do you forget to make it crispy? Now, credit where it's due. The Texas toast? Still elite. Buttery, golden, doing exactly what it's supposed to do. The coleslaw? Fresh, crisp, actually refreshing. And the staff here? Friendly, efficient, and the food came out quick. No complaints on the service side at all. So now I'm sitting there having this internal debate. Because I know what Raising Cane's can be. And this wasn't it. somewhere in the middle of that meal it hit me that I went out of my way for this and got a version that felt like it cut corners That's a tough pill to swallow in an area like Kissimmee where you've got options everywhere you turn. Great food is not hard to find around here. Which makes subpar chicken stand out even more. Three stars. And that feels generous based on the sides and the service carrying the weight. But let's be clear. I'm usually a five star guy when it comes to Raising Cane's. This just wasn't that day. And when your whole brand is built on doing one thing right, you don't get a pass when that one thing misses.

Our food came out relatively fast as it is a quick service restaurant but that's when it fell short as all of the food we ordered was lukewarm like you could tell it all had been sitting for a while as to the point of where it really lacked had this been hotter I'm sure it would have been better. The spicy chicken sandwich wasn't bad had it been hot I can see the flavors coming out more as it was a decent sized piece of chicken with some of the spicy sauce and some bread and butter pickles which I did find to be a surprise as not many places use those pickles on a chicken sandwich. My lady said her chicken pieces were also lukewarm and she said that had they been hot that they would have been significantly better as it fell the same way with the yuca fries as those too were lukewarm and just left her looking for warmer food. The empanada was probably the warmest item that we received it was ok as it had a decent flavor to it but it lacked a lot of chicken as it felt like it was mostly sauce which was definitely underwhelming at most. All of the employees we encountered were very friendly and busy working and cleaning and just seemed to be enjoying their shift which is definitely a plus as I know how it can get in a QSR environment. Even though this had nothing to do with the restaurant I do have to say that this random guy came in and was like arguing with the staff about using the restroom this is after he came over and took some paper towels from the employee's roll who was cleaning the windows kinda random but it was kinda amusing to watch them while we ate. One other thing I noticed here was that there was no trash can at all which I'm very much so not a fan of as I'm not for leaving my plates on the table for someone to clean it up at a fast food restaurant as that's something I prefer to do myself. Overall the food here definitely fell short as I'm not into getting lukewarm food a chicken sandwich should me piping hot when you first bite into it so it's for these reasons I highly doubt that I'll ever come back.

After my visit I can confirm: that's exactly right. Let's start with the good, because some of it is genuinely great. The space is clean and well maintained, with staff actively clearing and resetting tables at an impressive pace. For a fast casual concept, the fact that food is brought directly to your table is a thoughtful touch that elevates the experience above its category. And then there are the fries. My stomach is practically rumbling typing this. Freshly fried, crispy and golden on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and served piping hot. They're genuinely hard to compare to anything else -- unique enough to stand on their own. If Chicken Guy sold only fries, I'd be a loyal regular. The chicken, though -- the whole reason for the name -- left me with questions. Hot and fresh, absolutely. But the interior had a wateriness that crossed from "juicy" into something that actually diluted the flavor. Combined with a sweet and sour sauce so thin it refused to cling to the tenders, the whole thing fell a little flat. I found myself wondering whether the chicken had been moisture-injected, because it tasted more hydrated than flavorful. In the Orlando heat that might technically be a feature -- but a good tender should be able to stand on its own before the sauce ever enters the picture. I'd return -- the fries alone make it worth it. But I'd experiment with a different sauce and temper expectations on the chicken itself.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and there are a lot of choices to pick from on the menu. The interior is pretty large with a lot of seating areas both inside and outside. Inside is definitely preferred in the Florida heat. There are two drink stations with fountain sodas you can refill, but it's just standard Coke products and not a Coke freestyle machine. We had one order of the grilled strips and one order of the crispy strips. We also had the french fries, and we tried the bourbon BBQ sauce and the seasonal "korean spicy" sauce. The chicken strips were good. The grilled strips were a bit on the dry side, but they were a lighter choice versus the crispy ones. I appreciate that they have the grilled option for a lighter option. The fries had a light seasoning on them and were fairly standard french fries. We had heard that the sauces are the highlight here, and they were - OK. The bourbon sauce definitely had a punch of bourbon flavor, and the korean sauce definitely had that unique spicy korean flavor. They were a bit on the runny side, though, and I would've preferred a thicker sauce. Overall this was a decent meal, but it fell a bit short of expectations.
