Carolina's version leans into a vinegar-pepper flavor that's typical of Eastern NC barbecue. I arrived just before the lunch rush so I was able to get a table near the door where I could enjoy my lunch while watching the queue grow a bit. The chicken was moist and flavorful, still very hot from the fryer. Hot enough that I had to start with a knife and fork to tear it up before I could dig in. My sides were okay. The potato salad was a mush. Pleasant flavor but no texture that leaned into mashed territory. The mac and cheese was good but overdone noodles and no "tang" from the cheese. I'd try other sides next time. Slappy's is consistently rated as a top fried chicken place in a state of great fried chicken places. The concept is top-notch and the chicken was great. The restaurant is open and bright with tall windows along the front and sides. A very nice change from the cloned box chain restaurant buildings these days. They have a drive thru and dine in with lots of booths surrounding the perimeter of the inside and some tables in the center. They also have a small outdoor seating area. It's not covered though so it will be a seasonal option. The inside has a large counter that looks like it could be a bar area but it was empty and looked unfinished. We ordered at the counter where a friendly cashier helped us decide on what sauces to choose. Since it was our first time here we wanted to try a variety of items. I ordered three sliders and my husband got a tender combo. Our food came out really quickly and it was super hot. The fries were seasoned well too. No one likes unseasoned fries. One of the first things we noticed was how small the tenders were. I would have expected a larger tender for the price honestly. The flavor was delicious and we loved the different sauces they had. The spicy peach sauce was one of my favorites as well as the honey mustard. The pretzel bites we got as a side were ok. I'd probably skip them next time though. Overall we had a great experience at Ray Rays. I'd go there again for sure. Next time I'll have to try one of their sandwiches or bowls I think.

Not only are the portions beyond generous, but the food is DELICIOUS. There are not many chicken sandwiches out there that can rival chick-fil-a, but.... I might have to put Ray Ray's on top. As someone who usually hates crinkle cut fries, they are done right here. Seasoned to perfection and crisp on the edges! Also, so many fries included that I couldn't even finish them all in one sitting. The chicken itself is so juicy, crispy, and full of flavor. They also have fresh lemonade and orangeade, and yes, it's actually fresh. The lemon flavor packed a punch but in the best way. The flavors of KFC coated chicken came through and the juicy chicken was so good! It truly was the best chicken sandwich I've had in forever. I had to keep reminding myself this is KFC! I know the whole country is obsessed with another chicken chain, I'm not in that pool, but if it's been a while since you've been to KFC, I advise you to make a change for flavor alone. This jerk slams the window open and RAISES HIS VOICE AT ME and says "I was talking to another customer, I told you to hang on!" I asked how I was supposed to hear him when he never opened the fricking window. He slams the window closed and a minute later another girl hands me another box with my missing piece of chicken. But we were only able to see three packages in the cooler at about 2pm on a Saturday afternoon. The rest of our shopping experience was fine as we picked up a few items but it really got uncomfortable when we went to the check stand. Our cashier began ringing up our order and we watched the computer screen to ensure the items rang up correctly. She got to the end of the order and we questioned why the beer we picked up did not ring up correctly when they were clearly marked down $2.00 for two Carolina based beers. This is the ongoing special when items are made in the state of North Carolina. We informed our cashier, who may have been training about the price discrepancy and she was quick to ask the person bagging our groceries. He didn't know either and approached one of the three women employees who were talking at the front of the store. All three women came over to the check stand and we told them the beer wasn't ringing up correctly. We noticed none of them made eye contact and began whispering to each other before one of the ladies began walking back to the beer aisle. While she was gone the four other employees stood there and it felt uncomfortable. After a couple of minutes she walked back to the register and began whispering to the other women. There was no communication to us at all, she just began punching in the discount which reduced our total. After I removed my credit card I was asked if I wanted cash back to which I replied no. I was told I was charged the original total and I was getting $2.14 back in cash. I did not ask or do anything to get cash back. I just wanted to pay what was owed with my credit card and not receive any change back but I did, it was strange. Honestly was the wait worth $2.00, no. Was the attitude and response by the employees justified, no. It is really frustrating when you go to any business and the items do not ring up correctly. We just wanted to get in and get out and these women made it feel like it was our fault the item didn't ring up correctly. Our customer service experience at the other Lowes are always above average when compared to other grocery stores but that was absolutely not our experience today. We will not be returning to the Bermuda Run Lowes.

They also have a beer station where you can fill up growlers. Wine selection is decent, better than most grocery stores. I breezed through the drive thru, ordered my regulars here - Cheeseburger and their Spicy Chicken Sandwich, loaded up and moved on. This is solid fast food fare, and that it comes from an attractive setting is kind of cool. There is good value as each sandwich is $4.99!
