It has been at least 6 years if not longer since I stepped foot in a KFC. The last time I only went through the drive thru for the apple pie bites too so it's been quite some time since I've had their chicken. I was craving a chicken sandwich on the way to see the Tanglewood Festival of Lights so KFC was conveniently located on the way. I got the original recipe chicken sandwich with coleslaw and a drink. My husband got a 3 piece meal with the mashed potatoes and coleslaw as sides. First, if you are a nostalgic lover of KFC coleslaw like me you know the first bite has to be that. It was cold, and fresh with that signature KFC taste we all love. Perfection! My sandwich was hot, fresh and delicious. The flavors of KFC coated chicken came through and the juicy chicken was so good! It truly was the best chicken sandwich I've had in forever. I had to keep reminding myself this is KFC! My husband was gracious enough to share some of his mashed potatoes and gravy with me. Yum! There's no substitute to that classic flavor. It's so good! I know the whole country is obsessed with another chicken chain, I'm not in that pool, but if it's been a while since you've been to KFC, I advise you to make a change for flavor alone. It is 100 times more flavorful than that other place. Now, I also know not all KFC locations are created equal. The one in Clemmons seems to be an exception from my experience. It was clean, the employees were very friendly, my food was super fresh and brought to my table. Honestly, I will be coming back for my fried chicken fix again in the future. read more

Once a year I give this location another chance. Once a year I leave this crap hole absolutely livid. Today: Ordered at the drive thru, pulled around and waited. After a bit I was told they no longer have what I ordered - hot honey chicken and no queso. Fine. I settled for regular chicken. Took the bag and sat there while I checked to make sure everything was there. They left out a piece of chicken. I honked my horn, smiled and waved at the closed window. (I prefer my fast food spit-free so I'm nice.) No answer. I honked again. Nobody. I leaned out and knocked. This jerk slams the window open and RAISES HIS VOICE AT ME and says "I was talking to another customer, I told you to hang on!" I asked how I was supposed to hear him when he never opened the fricking window. He slams the window closed and a minute later another girl hands me another box with my missing piece of chicken. KFC is KFC, and this location is average in service, meaning check your order before driving off. I came to try the Spicy Chicken Sandwich as I continue to work my way through the numerous fried chicken options in the area. This is a large sandwich, the fillet is the largest of the national chains, weighting in at 10.3 ounces, almost twice the size of the smallest, Chick-fil-A at just over 5 ounces. Popeyes' fillet is second at 8.6 ounces, Wendy's is just over 7.5 ounces, while McDonald's is just under 7 ounces, as is Hardee's, Zaxby's, and Burger King's. This is a great sandwich, in my opinion it is the very best of the national chains, a bit better overall than Popeye's. It is well battered, nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. There is a very nice crunch when you take a bite, great texture and great flavor. The spicy sauce is pretty good, but a bit mild. And at $4.99, this is a value. read more

I was just there. Had to wait to long to be waited on. Finally a person came to the counter after I asked to be waited on. Person was rude. Finally got my order. Other people were waiting and were very disappointed with the service. Two people left because they were tired of waiting. This is not the way to run a business. I wouldn't eat at this KFC on a bet, and neither should you. I drive by here on my way to work every morning and on my way home every afternoon. I have observed the lackadaisical work ethic of its employees as they go to and fro, smoking right in front of the store, and being generally insouciant. Their cavalier treatment of KFC's refuse has created a problem that is right out of a classic horror movie: every morning there is a committee of some 20 or 30 vultures perching on the roof, dumpster diving, or trolling the drive thru area of this KFC. See photo. The most I've counted is 48. Yes, I stopped to count. The Black Vulture (Coragyps atratus) occupies an important niche in the ecosystem by consuming carrion. They are in essence the sanitation workers of their biome, doing a job that is as important as it is thankless, and are often regarded with scorn and derision. KFC is not a natural part of an ecosystem, so the fact that the vultures are here every morning means that this KFC is not properly disposing its food waste, i.e., carrion. In addition to the general neglect and grimy appearance of this KFC, the employees leave the large doors of the dumpster enclosure AND the individual sliding doors of each dumpster OPEN. This is an engraved invitation to vultures to come dine at KFC. This had been going on for weeks, so I reported it to the Village of Clemmons. They said they would call KFC and check up on any relevant laws, but basically were not very sanguine about a positive resolution to this unsanitary, grotesque, disquieting situation. They were right. Then one day I drove by and there were no vultures. The dumpster doors and enclosure doors were closed up tight. "Wow!", I thought to myself. "I guess Clemmons called! KFC cares and took action!" They did. For one day. Then the very next day the dumpster doors were open and the vultures were back. They're also starting to hang out at the bank next door. I suspect this will not set well with the bank employees, so this thing may get heated up. I am just old enough to remember Kentucky Fried Chicken commercials with Colonel Harland Sanders himself. I shudder to think how he would react if he knew a franchise of one of his beloved restaurants was being run like this. So I'm going to social media to try to get something done. Rest easy, Colonel. Well went to my local kfc. Walked into the store and absolutely no one was there. No customers or employees. It was only 11:33 am. Only the cook was present and she was busy. It is rare that I would give 1 Star, but this particular store has earned it. Filthy restrooms and not properly supplied. This is a major red flag for me. How are the Food preparers suppose to practice sanitary practices of their restrooms are not properly stocked? When I asked about the menu items, the counter person indicated that KFC has no standards for their products and each store does as it wants. Second red flag. Biscuits were hard and when I asked for a replacement it was the same. Obviously been sitting too long. Low number of customers should have warned me at lunch hour. Customer Care was very low. We're new to this town. We wanted some KFC. You can't really go wrong with that, right? Well we pull through the drive through and are promptly (and rudely) informed "drive thru is closed. Come inside." Had my kids not been with me and starving, I would have just left. We went inside. Looking around the place was dirty. The doors looked like that hadn't been cleaned in days. One person was walking back from the bathroom with a wet paper towel to wash her table off, there was trash on other tables, cleaning supplies were half hazardly leaning against the wall in the dining area, the drink area had trash and soda all around it. That was my first impression. I wait a while in line and overhear the lady in front of me order a piece of white meet to which she was rudely informed "we don't have any." The lady was clearly confused (who runs out of chicken breasts at a strictly chicken place??) and she was once again rudely informed, "we're out. It'll be 30 minutes." The lady ordered something different and paid. Without another word the person taking orders turns and starts cleaning crumbs up and wiping surfaces behind the counter down, leaving me to stare at her and the other lady waiting for her missing drinks. The lady finally turns around to notice the other lady and gives her her cups. She asks what I want and plops a cup down. I ordered a bucket, all dark meat. "Sides?" Was her response. She goes and prepares my order and comes back with everything to collect my payment. I asked about the drink since my order does not come with a drink. "It was for your wait." Oh. Okay, well that part was considerate. To sum it up, the food was good, the service was rude but they did try to compensate me even if they didn't communicate that, and when I left the drive through was back open. I really wish we could do half stars because I would at least give 1.5 but since I doubt I'll be back and I seriously think that store needs some TLC, I'm giving them 1 star. read more

We pulled into the messy parking lot and considered driving away then. We walked into the restaurant and noticed a gent working on a register. We waited and NEVER saw an employee at the counter, no one acknowledged us. Finally, the register repair guy spoke to us and the poor gal who'd been waiting for a long time had enough. If you have a craving for KFC - then it will do. The problem with this place is that the service is slow and border-line rude. There is RARELY someone at the front when you walk in are in line. They regularly don't have everything you need to fill your order and regularly get your order wrong. Bottom line, it's the closest place to get your KFC fix in the area, but GO INSIDE and CHECK YOUR ORDER - also don't expect to get in and out quickly. Paid and pulled off with my food going down the road I went to grab the box that was in the bag to set in my passenger seat and all the food came out the bottom of the box into my seat thankfully the mash potatoes container didn't open. So I'll probably never go to Clemmons KFC ever again I gave them three chances. The first time I went I got a chicken pie and it was cold in the middle and not to mention the floors disgusting and it looked like It hadn't been swept or mopped in 2 days. And after that I stood in the front where you order for a good 10 minutes and everyone in the back just wants to look at me. So I finally asked the lady that sitting in a booth eating (she works there) & not to mention she looked at me like why are you coming up to me while eating I thought to myself oh well. Anyways I say I just was wondering when I was going to get my food and she said oh you haven't got it yet I said no I ordered at 7:25 and it's almost been an hour. She walks back ask the manager and the manager says my food has been handed to the wrong person. I said I figured that's what happened everyone makes mistakes but Id like my money back please. It had been a year since we ate at KFC in Clemmons. A coupon in Sunday's newspaper magazine enticed us to try it again. Also, in recent months this KFC has been renovated, so we decided to go for it. We visited this location after church on Sunday. It was fairly crowded, and we almost left before ordering because the line to order didn't seem to be moving. The place looked cleaner, less greasy than our last visit in 2010 and no buffet, but the wait to order was very long. We should have left. After about 25 minutes our order was taken. Meantime, a number of customers left because of the excessive wait time. Those who didn't leave complained to the manager. The manager explained the wait by saying that three employees failed to show up. After another 30 minutes our "grilled" chicken order was ready. It was "grilled" with skin on and was literally dripping with grease. Again, this was not a very good experience with KFC in Clemmons. read more

Trying to only get chicken and they gave me a price that's more expensive than the meal and when asked further they straight up said they don't know the price. Workers are rude and unapologetic.
