After ordering one lunch special and three salads i discovered why. if you were on a lunch break you won't make it back in time. service is attentive but moves slow. the kitchen moves even slower. i tested this theory by observing other patrons that entered. almost all appeared to be retired or not currently in the work place. the food was good but by the time my special arrived it wasn't hot. salads were good and delivered just as ordered. it's a nice restaurant, lighting was a bit dim for lunch and looked like more of a dinner time ambiance. i'd give them another try, maybe i caught them on an off day!

Location: The Big…read moreSalad is located in Flowood near JC Penny on the same side as the cookie store. This location has been operating for six months. Service: David, who is the owner, was accommodating. He was patient as he explained the various options and offerings. I signed up for the rewards program and received a free soup, and my meal was discounted. Entree: I ordered the Bravocado salad. The base green is rocket romaine, and it also contains garden spinach. I chose grilled chicken as my protein. The taste was excellent, and the cucumbers and avocado were complimented perfectly by the dressing. It was a little spicy, but I have a sensitive palate for spicy foods. The produce and proteins are chopped which minimizes the "cutting" salad process. Price: The price is competitive with restaurants in the area. My original price was $14, but I received a discount as I stated previously for signing up for the rewards program. The restaurant space is beautifully decorated, inviting and warm. Like most sandwich shops, orders are made at the counter. But this is no typical sandwich shop. Inspired by New Orleans cooking, the restaurant features outstanding po boys, sandwiches, delicious salads, and exceptional gumbos and soups. And not to be missed -- especially for a southerner like me who has given up sweet tea due to the sugar -- the Splenda Tea is awesome. I also loved the fresh pickle and pepper bar where I enjoyed the sweet pickles that were similar to those my grandmother made when I was young. I particularly was impressed with Newk's because we had a large group, and the gentleman who was the host was so friendly and went out of his way to help us. Our order was perfect and we left with our food perfectly packaged and ready for the transport to our office. Kudos to Newt's!
