Went here Friday at 5 PM to get some food before the downtown Norfolk First Friday's event. It was our first time trying Chicho's, so we were standing by the door for a little bit before we were actually told that we could just seat ourselves. I'm not really a fan of this seating style because we waited a good little minute for a server to notice we were seated and finally bring menus to our table; though they were really just standing around not doing anything. Once we did get a server's attention and finally got menus, I would say that the service or specifically our server, he was really attentive and friendly. I must note that I did notice while we were dining, a couple came in and sat themselves and waited for a good while for a server to notice them, which never happened, so they eventually got up and left. To drink: I got the Cucumber Cooler and the Impeachable Crush (3/10) both drinks just straight up tasted like juice / flavored soda with absolutely no alcohol in them at all. Completely got no buzz from them, so I was very disappointed in the drinks I had. Upon looking around the room, I guess maybe their cocktails and crushes aren't their specialties, as everyone mostly had a beer / canned drink, so I don't know. To eat: we got Mozz Sticks (8.5/10) a little salty and split a large Mighty Meat Pizza (10/10). Both the mozzarella sticks and the pizza came out piping hot, fresh, and flavorful. I was very joyful that the food ended up being a hit, though the drinks were not. I can see myself going back to Chicho's for the pizza specifically. I don't see myself going back for a combo of drinks and food / a night out, so it's not very likely that I'll be back anytime soon; unfortunately. My overall rate of experience : 5.9/10 read more

I stopped by Chicho's Backstage before attending a concert at the norva with some friends. The first thing I noticed when we walked in was that they were playing the music of the band we were going to see. Already a win, they know the business they're bringing in that evening and want to tend to what they like! We sat at a high top table in the bar area and were greeted right away. We each ordered a beer (obvi I got a corona light), and a round of waters. The drinks came out within 3 minutes and then we ordered our pizza. Two of us got 2 cheese slices and another friend got 2 pepperoni. I kid you not when I say these came out within 5-7(?) minutes!!! With a concert to get to, this was a huge bonus! The pizza was good! Not NY pizza, but it had great flavor and satisfied our needs before going to sing and dance. I think we spent a total of 30 minutes in and out. They have a huge menu with plenty of options that aren't pizza. I do love how you can order by the slice (only for the cheese and pepperoni, though!) The place is huge. They had another section with an upstairs, a party section, and even a little patio out front. I'd suggest this spot to anyone who needs a quick bite to eat while down on Granby Street. I went to this establishment to meet a friend who was part of a party there . The bartender asked if we wanted anything and we said we were ok . She told us we couldn't sit there unless we were ordering something, so I asked for a coke. She said I had to get alcohol . Like when is that a rule , and not on a sign for customers to see . I didn't want to drink and shouldn't be obligated to. She refused to give me a coke , and threatened to call the cops if I didn't leave. I got so upset by it actually , I literally was there for 5 mins total . I didn't come in there making a scene or refusing to leave . I will tell you though , I will never return . I called the next day to talk to the manager and got no call back , so that speaks volumes about that establishment and the owner . read more

The food here was rough! Got my pizza (which was burnt) with hot honey "drizzle", and it arrived with a pool of hot honey (that tasted more like straight buffalo than hot honey) sitting on top of it. This is absolutely my favorite pizza spot. It's out of my way and inconvenient to park but I love their pizza. Whenever I have friends over or someone visiting who is new to the area I suggest Chichos if they want local pizza. I've gone here a few times with my boyfriend and his friends, and each time has been enjoyable! I've only gone on Mondays for their $1 slices, which is such a great deal, and the slices are bigger than I expected. They have 7-foot pool tables upstairs that take quarters, which is perfect if you're in the mood to play. The service has never been slow. read more

I love Chicho's pizza with the spicy sauce - PERIOD!!! I tell you, when I want pizza and I am nearby, this is my go to spot. The spicy sauce with pepperoni and jalapenos toppings is my go to for sure! Yes, I love spicy! The salads here are great as well! I love the wings fried hard as well. The atmosphere is lively too! Every now and then they will feature a DJ or live music. This place is located on the busy Granby Street. When you walk in this place appears to be small inside, but it's actually pretty large compared to other restaurants located in the area. I have dined here a handful of times and each time has been a joy! I love the cocktails here too!! Parking - street parking is available and free after 6pm and Free on Sundays. But if none is available - garages are located within walking distance. Check them out! I usually never leave my workplace for lunch but a couple of my coworkers and I decided to venture in Downtown Norfolk and it seems like a lot of places are closed on Tuesday, at least where we were intending to go was. Chichos was open and we decided to eat here for lunch. The prices for their food are pretty inexpensive and the serving sizes are decent/big. I ordered the Cheese Pizza which was $6 for a 10inch personal pizza and I picked spicy marinara for my sauce. For $6 it was a decent size personal pizza. Before you take a look at the picture, I forgot to snap a picture before I took a bite, least to say I was hungry. The pizza tasted like a normal regular pizza, I didn't get any of the spice until I hit the 4th slice where it all seemed to be concentrated at one focal point of the pizza. The spice would have been a lot better if it was distributed throughout the sauce. They do have a bar area and there was one other person in the establishment besides us but he was doing some day drinking. Our order was taken fairly quickly and placed but it seemed to take a while for the order to come out. It was a pretty basic experience at a restaurant, nothing extravagant. However, I was surprised when I looked at the check, that there was an automatic tip applied to the order. There were a total of 3 people in the party and we all paid separately, I understand putting a mandatory gratuity tip on large groups, but I was fairly shocked to see an automatic tip on my receipt. I was not going to question the tip because $1 and some change tip was not going to break my bank, but in the long run it saved me money because I was going to tip more than the tip automatically applied. read more

My boyfriend and I were out late and spotted this restaurant. The good news is that they have really great pizza.Walking in; there was nice music, but the hospitality was horrible. Our waitress did not aware us of an automatic tip being charged even though the customer service here was horrible. Growing up in Virginia Beach, I've always been a fan of Chicho's. So I was excited to hear they were opening in Downtown Norfolk close to work. I came in for lunch right as they opened. The restaurant took over the old FM Restaurant, and not much has changed if anything, as far as the layout goes. Their lunch specials are definitely something to take advantage of. I ordered the personal 10" pizza which came with a soda for $6. I added pepperoni, which was $1 extra. The wait for the pizza was slower than I anticipated, about 20 minutes. Fortunately, the pizza was hot and delicious. I'm not sure if the long wait is because they're just a few weeks into opening. Maybe things are still getting situated, but I would come back again and hope for faster service, since many of us are coming in during our lunch breaks. read more

The pizza we ordered was made from pre-processed dough and was not very good. Service was slow going and served up with plastic forks, knives, and spoons. Drinks were way late. It wasn't busy at all, about half the bar up front was filled, 2 tables with people at it, and 1 person at the bar in the back with 2 bartenders there. We sat down got our menus and drinks right away and ready to order as soon as she came back. We ordered and then we sat, and sat, and sat, and sat, and sat with empty drinks, and sat some more. Finally got refills and was told our food would be out shortly. We finally got our appetizers and had a chance to eat a slice of cheese bread then got our pizzas. Ate half of our pizzas and since it didn't seem like anyone would be coming we went up to ask for the check at the bar. Overall VB locations knock this one out of the park. I've been a server and am overly patient especially if places are busy or short staffed but that wasn't the case here at all. The caesar salad was mostly cheese and white romaine stems. There was very little green leaf romaine lettuce included in the salad. The pizza contained way-way too much cheese. I didn't experience the spicy sauce that others have liked, I guess that was because there was virtually no sauce on the pizza. The tip was added to the bill by the house, even though I was just a party of one seated at the bar for lunch.
