And I'll admit, when I was younger I was in that camp as well too. I went to the Cub game with just my little boy today. I have been going to Cub games my whole life. I have never gone as.a Father until today. What a different perspective and all I can say is Wow. I'm a little emotional as I have always always always wanted to take my little boy to Wrigley Field and I finally got to do that today. But what a nice, family atmosphere it was today. 1- There is free parking 2- There is a free shuttle to the park from Parking lot. 3- They have photographers taking picture outside Wrigley Field and they even took one of us with our camera. 4-- The ushers and everyone in concession could not have been nicer to me and my boy. 5- The bathroom was clean 6-- The parking lot had clean portables. 7- Not a bad view anywhere. 8- The signage has been melded into the atmosphere. I personally just don't like that you can't see the lake from the upper deck anymore but too bad. 9- The new speakers are awesome and it brings the park into the 21st century. 10-- The Ricketts family cares about the team and where they play. 1. I'm a sox fan- and I NEVER wear cubs attire, colors, etc. Just to piss of the future husband I sometimes where Sox stuff. :) It's all in good fun. 2. It is, by far, ONE of the best ballparks in the US. I'm a secure enough Sox fan to say that. It has something that not many ballparks have... History. (Maybe not a championship, ha) Yes, the bathrooms could be better- yes, it's not modern, but that's what makes it one of the best. (next to Fenway and Comerica) 3. For real, someone writing an OBJECTIVE review about the cubs? I just can't stomach it. I've gotta give them a 3 stars. They get our hopes up, I'm a north side girl and though I respect the Sox I'd rather see a Cubs game than a Sox one. Some seasons they're on, some they're off. All seasons the die hard fans take their blood pressure medication and pray to the good lord that THIS YEAR will be that championship winning year where we will reclaim our victory. Going yo Wrigley has always been a dream for me. However it was so expensive for me to take my family to especially for standing the entire game which stinks to do. I actually preferred the White Sox game for overall family experience. Buy food and drink outside the stadium and take it in. The people were nice but for value it was a let down. Because after all, the majority of people at the park are Wrigley fans, not actual baseball fans. Sure, they cheer when others around them cheer to let them know something good happened. But by and large, the people are only there because of the ballpark, and the notion that the god awful bars in the neighborhood are cool. FACT: If Zell sells the Cubs and not Wrigley, the fanbase will dwindle in a matter of years. Three of my friends and I went to a game the first week we moved here. We got all dressed up in Cubs attire and got on the El to the field. On the El it was packed with Cubs fans! It was so fun to meet everyone and have people getting so excited for the game. before we walked into the game we went to a tiny bar near the field. I think it was called the Dugout. They were selling $1 beers and people could play beer pong! It put us in a festive mood to see the game. Once we got to the field I was very happy with our seats. We were right on the 3rd baseline at in the 7th row. People were just excited to be there and having a great time. The Cubs played well although they did not win. Bleacher bums heckling outfield players, 7th inning stretch, ronny woo woo, beer/pea nut/hot dog vendors screaming their heads off to make a sale....i love wrigely. Cubs fans love coming to wrigley, its just something in the atmosphere that keeps us coming back..."maybe next year" or "this is the year" we dont even care about winning (clearly) we care about having a good time....i mean it would be AMAZING and i'd love to see it happen in this lifetime but im not holding my breath just yet. Ive checked out a few different stadiums/parks and the people and neighborhood that make wrigley what it is has not been duplicated. Cubs fans are crazy! Bleacher seats have to be the most fun, batting practice and watching grown men dive for balls or the guys who are so drunk they must be escorted out by the 5th innning...CLASSIC. People are always selling tickets, and there is plenty of parking, i think the average price is $25. I found out you can park as far as Ashland and walk to the field in about 10min. i think ill be walking from here on out. OR just take the train or bus. If i can give less than a star i would.. here's why- I recently went to a Cubs game on July 16, 2019. My fiancé bought tickets for my birthday. I enjoy going to the Cubs games and love the pride. But honestly the Cubs security staff member named Peter who was stationed at the Gallagher Exit ruined my evening. Long story short i wanted to try to find a jersey and to also see if the championship ring was still on display at the big cubs store outside the stadium. As i was going out the guard stationed (there were about 20 staff members there too) said they will scan your ticket "going back in". My tickets were never scanned going out and none of the security personnel told me that it needs to be scanned going out. I went out during the beginning of the 7th inning and when i didn't find the championship ring (another sad moment) I decided i wanted to find another jersey at the stores in the inside of the stadium. When i came back in i was told to scan my ticket. And when i went to scan it said please see attendent. The attendant didn't know what to do. I waited there for a bit and ended up missing the remaining 7th inning. She ended up going back with a security staff member named Peter who was so rude!!! I told him that i went to the store and that i'm simply coming back in to watch the remainder of the game. He didn't believe me nor my fiancé. I showed him the souvenir helmet from the nachos and i told him how did i get this if i didn't enjoy the game. He said "I don't know" and simply looked at us as though we are lying! He didn't offer any other way for us to get back in and basically expected us to leave ehat horrible staffing!!! I told him that my fiancé paid money for us to enjoy this game. After much reasoning/arguing he finally let us in and did something to his scanner to let us in. I said that action wasn't hard to do and that he should have let us in the first time instead of giving me a hard time and making miss the game to which he blatantly said, " you're lucky i'm letting you in." I mean how is that lucky i paid money it's not my fault staff members don't know their own protocols! I wanted to be better and not argue anymore with Peter. This ruined the game and my birthdy with his act of rudeness. Is this how staff members treats fans daily? I went into the Cubs store inside the stadium but i didn't end up buying anything i couldn't stop feeling the disgust from my night and what was suppposed to be a fun game. I think the Cubs have been doing really well last several years since they won the world series in 2016.. They have made it to the play offs every year since they won then.. Not many teams make it to the play-offs.. But I remember that night they won the world series and we stayed up late cause the game went into overtime, and they were playing the Cleveland Indians.. and the game was tied at the bottom of the 8th inning all the way through the 9th inning.. But then something happened between the bottom of the 9th inning into the top of the 10th inning a divine rain intervention delayed the game for 17 minutes and saved the Cubs and broke a 108 year old curse.. That night the 7th game of the world series was in the process of transforming from historic to transcendent... engulfed by there own history even as they ignored it, they cleansed themselves. The grounds field crew began unfurling the tarp and rain delays are apart of baseball, but the spirits of all the 38,000 transfixed fans in the stands that night and all the thousands and thousands of people all over the world watching this game intensely our spirits sank and wondering, What now?.. you see Aroldis Chapman who was the pitcher at this point could not have known with the rain bearing down on a progressive field when he took the mound, in a some what fragile state, in the 9th inning he had retired the Clevand's line up order Carlos Santana on a fly ball, Jason Kipnis on a strikeout and Francisco Lindor on a fly to Heyward on the right would allow Cubs to survive. So when the tarp was rolled out at 11:54 pm and everyone went to the clubhouse not knowing if they were going to play, Chapman remained on the bench.. he cried.. He needed to know, cause he had blown a 2 run lead for the Cubs in the bottom of the 8th, the Cubs were in trouble, which made it a tied ball game all through the 9th inning, He said something needs to be done. Aroldis Chapman was over worked, fragile and tired cause they had used him in alot of games.. And so Miguel Montero the catcher for the Cubs said to him It happens, its not your fault, they had to tell him that, We'll pick you up... I believe God answered that prayer, as he was on that bench crying. Hoyer and Epstein the Cubs president of Baseball operations, sat anxiously in their seat. When tarp was rolled out up, rose up to a tunnel that ran underneath the stands behind home- plate. it seemed funny how the rain room, where they reported and looked at weather, was behind home plate.. just as the Cubs were going to be up next they needed to know how to proceed. The meeting was brief. The cell that produced a potential down pour would pass quickly Epstein and Hoyer was told. Within minutes the league announced they expected to resume play around 12:15 am and headed to the Club house to tell the players to remain ready. As Epstein walked pass the weight room, a group of players were gathered inside, he saw those players and was a little concerned, cause he didn't know if there was an issue. There was an issue of how the game was going, or what happened in the 8th and 9th innings about game being tied, and with this curse they believed they had on them was it even possible for them to win.. It didn't look like it. But what was happening though was extraordinary. No Cub had more of a difficult October and a difficult season then Jason Heyward. By some measure he was the worse offensive player in the game. For large chunks of post season he served as an expensive Defensive replacement. And you see it was the good baseball players Kyle Schwarber, Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo talking about what's going to happen in the 10th inning, they were up next for the top of the 10th inning. Epstein told them to stick together cause he knew they were up next and had over heard them talking about the 10th inning. But it was because of Heyward that the meeting grew and it included the entire Cubs team. And here he had 0 to 4 on the night and an easy out, and here he was going to deliver the most significant contribution of the year. Heyward told them to come here I got something to say according to Ben Zobrist who was due up 4th to bat when the game resumes. This most maligned Cub spoke up and because of what Heyward was getting ready to say to the whole team, this is why I believe it was a Divine Intervention....He said lets be there for each other and not take situations for granted and remind ourselves who we are... He encouraged them, lifted them up with an inspirational speech, some of the Cub players were in tears cause of his speech... it really affected them and here Heyward was now leading them into victory in a time of crisis. The dread of the collapse had been put on pause and pivoted and turned to one simple thought.. If we win one inning Hoyer said, We win the world series and they did.. What a great Historic Cubs story and win that will impact who the Cubs are for the rest of there life!! read more

The Chicago Cubs are like the Crazy Biker Girl's that I dated in the 80's. They are so much fun in the beginning, and then after you date a while, you have this sinking feeling that they are going to break your heart. And in the end, all that you have to show for your relationship is a swift kick in the groin. Now that I have had a chance to think about the 2008 season, I"m really pissed off. I know that the losers are going to raise ticket prices next season on the basis that they need to stay competitive. Stay competitive my ass! They have been TOTALLY EMBARRASSED in the playoffs two years in a row. They played like a one legged man in an ass kicking contest. They have players like Soriano (Sorry-Ass) and A-Ram-Ass at third base who fail to show up in the postseason and fans who totally buy into the false hope that the Cubs give them by winning a horse shit division. If I see the Phrase "It's going to happen" anytime soon, I will probably throw up my breakfast. But I'm a sucker and have too much fun at Wrigley to stop going. So in the end, I'm a glutton for punishment and disappointment. But it doesn't mean that I'm happy about it. So I give the Cubs 4 stars for the sunshine, fun, comrade re and all the scantily clad Trixie's, but I take one star away for the pain that gathers in my testicles after getting kicked there every October. read more
