If you have ever come to watch the Cubs play at Wrigley Field, you have to at least once, come across the street to Cubby Bear right after. It's a huge bar with a pretty big dance floor. We took a co-worker here after the game. With him being from out of town, we wanted him to experience all the fun and festivities that Wrigleyville offers after a Cubs game. I had not been to Cubby Bear in a long time and I forgot just how fun it was to be here. The music is loud and the people are loud and everyone is having fun and dancing and drinking. My crew and I stood by the bar and had some shots and drinks, swayed to the music and people watched. Service at the bar was surprisingly quick despite the crowd. After a while we moved to a section that just had tables and chairs and tvs, which was in a different section away from the dance floor. Here you could order typical bar food and hear yourself talk. We opted to not order food during our visit and just got another round of drinks instead. Those tots and fries were calling my name but I was outvoted as the crew wanted to hop to another bar. We went on a Sunday afternoon to watch our granddaughter perform with the School of Rock Glenbrook along with two other School of Rock show teams. Plenty of seating available and the sound is fantastic but it can get loud at times. Typical bar food and drink are available by scanning their QR code.Parking is a challenge in the area. If I could give zero stars I would. I am extremely disappointed by my experience with this establishment and feel obligated to warn others. I was explicitly told by staff to have my friend park in a nearby lot off Addison. He was just picking us up and coming in to have one before we left. Within approximately two minutes of walking away, the vehicle was booted. I'm aware this may be a chicago thing, but within a couple of minutes is just predatory. This happened so quickly that it raises serious concerns about whether customers are being intentionally directed into a situation that results in immediate penalties. Being told to park somewhere and then having your vehicle immobilized almost immediately is unacceptable and demonstrates a lack of transparency and professionalism. This experience reflects very poorly on the integrity of the establishment and the way customers are treated. I strongly advise anyone considering visiting to be extremely cautious and to verify parking independently, regardless of what staff may tell you. Based on this experience, I will not be returning or supporting this business in the future. I hope management takes accountability and ensures no other customers are put in this position. FYI: they work in conjunction with Innovative parking solutions LLC. The absolute worst. Preying on people just to get an extra buck. read more

It's also the perfect place to gather during an off day or the offseason. The staff said the bar books djs and cover bands for late night and weekend entertainment. This is a high volume place. The waiter indicated that tap water wasn't an option and it is policy for you to buy $5 bottled water on "busy game days"... I later learned this was a scam from our waiter and we were allowed to get tap water. I had an overall good experience here at the Cubby Bear. I came to see an emo/pop punk cover band and I had heard certain things about the Cubby Bear so I honestly wasn't expecting much. The venue is a pretty cool set-up - there are two bars that line both sides of the venue (at the time of the show only one bar was open), there are plenty of table and chairs in the middle, and they do leave room in the front for standing closer to live acts. Service was standard for any bar. I will say their choices for non-alcoholic options are pretty much just sodas so that was disappointing. Location is also super convenient as it is right next to Wrigley Field so hoping on the bus or red line is extremely easy. I'd definitely come back for another show. read more

We didn't realize we had to order at the bar so we were sitting awkwardly waiting for a while. The bar food is standard - I would say the chicken tenders were pretty great quality though. So I've been a long time fan of the Cubby Bear (for over 20 years). My wife and I were in town for a Cub's game and decided to stop by on Friday night (6/13/25). When we walked in, the place was dead and the bouncer told us (while on his phone) that there was a cover charge that night. My wife said, "no thanks," and the bouncer's said to my wife, "well then fuck off". Friday night and you can't fill your shit bar, and your bouncer treats your customers like that? Bartender Johanna was super kind and attentive and had an awesome view of the iconic Wrigleyville Cubs stadium outside the window. The place is always loud, always crowded, and every inch of the floor is sticky from sloshed drinks. The restrooms aren't super awesome, and there have been many time where they have a restroom attendant working inside, expecting tips. So know before you go. They have a traditional bar food menu, which means pizza, fries, brats, and tots. The food isn't bad, and it's defintely cheaper than paying the jacked-up prices inside Wrigley Field, which is catty-corner across the street. So keep that in mind as you plan your day.
