BUYER BEWARE! We purchased $200 worth of tickets for a Sunday afternoon game at Wrigley Field. The game was cancelled due to bad weather, and re-scheduled for a Monday afternoon 6 weeks later. We cannot take off school and work that day. The Cubs refused to refund the tickets or exchange them for a different game. Customer Service told me to re-sell them myself! #1 I have no idea how to do that and #2 tickets to a Monday afternoon game on a school day are less desirable and I will lose money. I wasn't really a fan of baseball because I didn't know what was going on ever. When they won game 7, I almost cried, because... The championships taught me all of about baseball, the beauty of the sport and the Cubs team. Anthony "the hips don't lie" Rizzo, Baez with quick thinking plays on the field, Russel's grand slams and old timer Ross - who knew you could play professional ball at the age of 50. Watching Lester in his finest hour -- after he brushed off those nerves! And who knew the skinny Edwards Jr. could keep us safe from additional runs in the last inning. Chicago Cubs - Professional Sports Teams Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Despite editing a few lines, I ran out of space last time. Anyway, this Update will be somewhat short (well, at least for me). +The Cubs regularly had 10-12 hits a game (CF Marlon Byrd had 170 hits and a .293 batting average- 3 other players hit .300 or better). -The team batting average could have been better (.257- there are 30 Major League Baseball teams, and the Cubs finished 21st in overall batting). There were a fair number of games where the team did next to nothing (the Cubs were outscored 20-1 in the 2 games my wife and I went to- Aramis Ramirez hit a home run against the Cardinals). The Cubs also struggled to make their hits count (they left a lot of runners on base). I often saw them score a measly 3 or 4 runs despite drawing a few walks and having 10 or more hits (a better team would have regularly scored 6 or more runs). Clutch hitting was a problem all season. +Like a lot of fans, I miss Harry Caray. Len Kasper and Bob Brenly are very solid announcers, though. +All the little promos annoy me (no matter what you're watching, there's a plug pretty much every commercial break), but WGN is a great network. It's family friendly, similar to the Cubs (I just wouldn't bring any kids younger than 6 to a game, partly because of the weather). -Bad pitching. Although the team ERA was solid (4.18), 11 pitchers had an ERA of 5.18 or more. The bullpen was especially shaky (it was also a problem all year). My wife and I thought that we were prepared for the weather in Chicago, but no. We had the right clothing, but at the wrong times. The game on 9/23 started at 6:05 (night games at Wrigley Field are rare). It was a little hot and humid throughout. Our jackets weren't needed. The game on 9/24 started at 1:20. It was very windy throughout. Our jackets were needed (oh yeah), but we didn't bring them (I got tired of lugging all this shit around the day before, and I didn't want it to happen again- you can imagine how dumb I felt while watching the game, but some fans were in shorts!). Thankfully, the game ended at about 4 (we left quickly, and it was good to get warm again). Sadly, my wife and I weren't able to hear "Go Cubs Go" (Steve Goodman is basically a folk hero because of the song). It's fine that the Giants beat them, but we were really hoping to see the Cubs beat the Cardinals (they actually went 9-6 against the Cardinals during the season, winning 6 of the last 8 games). I can't understand how it is even possible to give the Chicago Cubs any more than three stars at the very maximum. I am tired of the mediocrity that is considered acceptable with this organization. The only reason I have gave them two stars was because they are entertaining at times: they made some good runs in 2003, 1998, 1989, and 1984. However when I think of the Cubs the things that pop first into my mind is comedy: the slug fest between Barrett and AJ, Steve Bartman, and the ball rolling through Leon Durham's legs in the NL Championship series against the Padres in 1984. Finally this year the Cubs have made some strides in actually making the impression that they want to improve the quality of baseball on the north side. Cubs fans, I get it. I'm an A's fan. We're the same. You make do with less than other teams, but put up comparable numbers in spite of it. But you never make it to the World Series. The visiting Pirates hit a grand slam in the first inning. Yikes. The Cubs bats were silent the entire night except for a single base-hit in the bottom of the eighth. Dear Mr. Ricketts, I'm a season ticket holder and I have suffered through MANY of the 197 losses over the past two seasons. Worse yet, I tend to drag my two boys to many games and watch as their faces plummet while inning after inning the score becomes more and more lopsided. The bloom is off the rose as far as the rebuilding Tom. There's only so much losing, only so many 11 - 2 games one can take - game after game after game. Very, VERY sick of the 'getting murdered in the first two games before salvaging a 3 - 2 "victory" in the series finale on getaway day' cycle we are in. I follow the club closely. I am informed on the stadium and revenue initiatives. I can't find anything you've done recently that is FOR THE FANS instead of for your own bank account. Are more weekend night games "for the fans"? H%LL NO! We L-O-V-E sitting in the sunshine on weekends. What the F#@#$! are weekend night games good for? Your bank account. (And desecrated lawns in the Wrigleyville neighborhood). Heard you were going to eliminate any choice for beer in the stands. Budweiser and Budweiser are your choices. Do you think that is "for the fans?". I mean, we are suffering our @$$e$ off watching 40 to 50 lopsided losses a year, and you're going to take away the only non-Budweiser choice we have? I think that one is another check mark in the "only for your bank account" column, because it certainly is not "for the fans". Wrigley Field also has the worst food menu in the entire major leagues. The reason is predominantly the archaic infrastructure where no open-flame cooking is possible. In all of the mountains of renovation talk, I have not seen one peep about upgrading the cooking infrastructure inside the ballpark. I hope that is on the renovation menu, because that would be the only 'win-win' that I see happening for the fans which also would benefit your bank account. Despite hundreds of articles about our AA and AAA talent, and hundreds of articles about the controversial renovation, I have not heard one thing that tells me the 2014 Cubs will lose less then 90 games. So what, Mr, Ricketts, in all of the mountains of news you have made this fall, is "for the fans"? Our team was 27th or 28th in everything, our best batting average was .251, and our "wins" leader had NINE WINS. Please do something "for the fans". Great game 9/4/10; the weather was perfect and the Cubs won vs the Mets 5-3. Thank goodness I missed the fiasco on 9/5 where the Cubs lost 5-18 to the Mets, I would have eaten my hat for sure. Parking is tricky. Everyone and their brother will sell you a spot anywhere from 1 block to a mile away from Wrigley Field. You have to look for "easy in - easy out" spots, otherwise they will park cars in front of and behind you and you will be trapped until the other cars drive away. The going rate is about $20-$25 to park, but I have parked as cheap as $15 on Irving Park Rd, and on the high side its $30+ to park very close. You may never win the World Series again... but, Go Cubs, GO! read more

They break my heart when they lose, and when they win my life is full of elation. How is that possible? A baseball team determines when my life is awesome? Yes, it's true. I don't go to Wrigley for the beer, I go for the team and the sport. I travel to other cities to see them play. I've been a Cubs Fan since the late 70's...I BLEED CUBBIE BLUE! Cubs have made this grown ass man cry three times (at least three times) First time was back in 1984. Ryne Sandberg's MVP Season. (back then; it was ONLY one round of the playoffs before going to the World Series, and it was only the best of 5. Cubs won the first 2 games, just one more win, and Cubs go to the WS. Just One more win. BUT NOOOO!, Cubs lost three straight in San Diego. I still have side effects from that ordeal. Made playoffs in 1989 and 1998, but I did not cry. (I really did not, no seriously I didn't cry, I think I didn't, well...) Second Time Cubs made me cry was in 2003. I was balling, we were just 5 outs away from going to the World Series. I dont blame Bartman. Cubs just choked. Cubs were up in NL Championship Series vs The Marlins 3 games to 1. Just one more win. I went to Miami to see games 4 and 5. Cubs Won Game 4, up 3-1, but lost game 5. Ah, but we have Mark Prior and Kerry Wood back home at Wrigley. No Way we will lose back to back games, RIGHT? And they did, and the Cubs broke my heart...yet again! The suffering continues. Made playoff in 2007 and 2008, but I did not cry. (well maybe a little) Made playoffs in 2015, but was not expecting much. Cried very little. Ah, but the World Series of 2016! Down 3 games to 1. Cubs Win the Next two Games! Seeing the Cubs and visiting Wrigley Field are one if not about the only thing left unchanged from when I was a kid. Unfortunately, that includes the absence of a World Series appearance, Nonetheless, a trip to Wrigley is a great way to spend a day or evening. I've acclimated to the lights, the advert sing can go away though. I wouldn't be too upset if that Toyota sign blew over in the next windstorm. But seeing the ivy and the smell of the park still overrides the relatively few modernizations they've added. read more

It was 1988 the Cubs were playing the Dodgers on a sunny day and I was watching my first baseball game. It was a lazy summer afternoon with no school, no class, nothing to do but pass the hours by while my parents were at work. There was a guy in the box watching while another guy was flinging a baseball at him over and over again. There were balls and strikes and outs and base-hits that didn't register and didn't compute for me. What in the world was an RBI? Was it some award that these batters won? A summer later I finally understood baseball by watching all of those games on WGN with broadcasting duo Harry Caray and Steve Stone with the Holy Cows and spelling of names backwards. In 1989 there was Domingo Ramos, Jerome Walton, Dwight Smith, Damon Berryhill, along with Hall of Famers Greg Maddux, Ryne Sandberg and Andre Dawson. This 1989 squad clinched the NL East title out in Montreal but the game I remember the most is one summer game they were down 9-0 against Houston Astros and kept chiseling away at the lead and won 10-9 booya! I went to my first Cubs game either that season or next when my dad had some tickets from the office. He only had two tickets and didn't know a thing about baseball and sent me and my brother there alone, I think we are a hot dog and pop while we watched the game and the Cubbies lost that day. I remember watching George Bell hop in a cab after the game while we waited for my dad to come pick us up in the Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra before the advent of wide-scale mobile telephone technology. There was the day it was 104° and the heatwave killed over 500 senior citizens and it was a furnace outside. Me and a friend headed out to Wrigley Field with some $12 bleacher seats and sat in the sweat-stained bleachers during the legendary 1995 heat wave. I don't know how we survived or what rationale drove us to sit in the bleachers that day but we were stubborn as mules and survived the oppressive, blistering heat. One day I will tell my descendants about this day and they will view it as senile hyperbole, but it's true - I was there. In 2008 I went to two dozen home games using the magic SRO line, grabbing Club Box seats, bleachers, Outfield Reserved, SRO with secret third-inning upgrades. I damn well caught a home run ball that year on the first barbecue of the year on Waveland Avenue during batting practice while nonchalantly carrying a 30-pack in my hands. I have been lucky to choose to be a Cubs fan with that first pitch I saw on that day in 1988 and will be a Cubs fan til the day I no longer walk this earth. The start of pitchers and catchers reporting provides the first hint that indeed, spring is JUST around the corner and with the warmer weather there will be another one in 30 chance the Cubs will win the World Series and that wretched Billy Goat Curse will go the way of the Bambino - lost, gone and etched into the history books. Every year that Sports Illustrated or ESPN picks the Cubbies to go all the way I can't say I'm not proud of my team but it surely sets me up for the inevitable disappointment of too many day games and a championship drought that carry the unanswered prayers of a nation of Cubs fans. We've waited for so long, so long for that satisfying taste of championship so bitterly withheld from us. It's springtime once again and every next year that ever was is here right in front of us, the season begins with every team sporting a 0-0 record. As a kid I admired the Cubs - Ryan Sandberg and Mark Grace, hell even Andre Dawson and Jerome Walton. They made me fall in love with the game of baseball. I've followed the Cubs everywhere I went, and cheered for them every step of the way. I was always impressed with the undying dedication and support of the fans. My significant other worked for the Cubs for about a month and a half. During that time frame they didn't pay her for the work she did. She sent numerous emails, calls, and follow up to get paid. They avoided her at all costs. She is still waiting to get paid and has needed to find other work. During the time she worked the 50/50 raffle one of the other workers sexually harassed her for two days and it was brought to their attention and they did nothing about it. Now it's happening to other women. They never fired this guy. Along with this a manager of the 50/50 raffle was aware of areas where men would cat call her so he would tell her that she would be placed in those areas so she could get more money. I could only imagine how other woman feel and what they go through working for this organization. read more

I started to download the mobile App to get a Frickin Hotdog. They wanted all my info, credit card info, username password, etc.. while I'm downstairs the Cubs hit 3 home runs that I miss.
