I'd had a rough morning and decided I needed to do something nice for myself and googled stores that had large size women's shoes. Tarzana was a bit far from Pismo Beach, but I could actually try things on. So I gassed up the car and headed south. When I walked into Chic Wide Shoes I was very warmly greeted by three wonderful people: Amira, Bill, and John. Candidly, I'm very newly out to being a trans woman and presenting female full time in public. And I'm 6'3, 265, and don't have a clue what I'm doing with a lot of this. I just know that when you wear a Men's 14, it's already hard to find shoes. Make those women's shoes that aren't sandals or sneakers, and that search becomes even more impossible. I'd bought a few cheap pairs of shoes off Amazon, but none fit right, and they all felt like what I'd paid for. I told them all this, and they could not have been warmer, friendlier, respectful, and professional. They asked questions about what I liked and what I didn't like, what I wanted in a shoe both in comfort and fashion. It really felt like the Disney princess treatment having pair after pair of really cute shoes in my size brought out to try on and pose in front of a mirror with. This was a brand new experience for me, and they honestly made me feel so special I almost cried several times. I later learned that Bill and Amira own the shop, and John actually owns David Tate shoes, a company that specializes in wide and large size women's shoes. I ended up walking out with a pair of faux snake skin heeled boots, two tone black ballet flats, some strappy heels, and an amazing pair of hybrid sandals/walking shoes that might be the most comfortable footwear I've ever experienced. All were David Tate, which moving forward will be my shoe brand. Shoes range from around $70 to $300 per pair from what I could tell with some other fashion items like purses and scarves. The pairs I bought ranged from $100 (sandals) -160 (boots). As a small business owner I was absolutely blown away by the level of customer service. They earned my business with effortless grace, and most importantly; they made it easy to do business with them. Really something we all should aspire to. They all knew their products backwards and forwards, they took a collaborative approach to finding the perfect shoe and fit for me, and they take tremendous pride in sending customers away happy. I also got to hear some wonderful stories about John and an old friend of his, Lee Booster, providing shoes for trans women and cross dressers in both Los Angeles and New York. I could feel the passion and history from John. As someone in sales, everything was a perfectly executed pitch with genuine altruism for the client. I want to be sold things by people who are passionate about what they do, and I no doubt found the right spot. There were pictures and hugs all around and I even received an amazing gift because they said I'd traveled so far. It was worth every mile and every penny and I will be back. I wore my ballet flats out, and later in the day when traversing IKEA I wore those sandals. Bill, Amira, and John, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was a truly landmark day in my transition, thank you.

I recently visited both Road Runner and Fleet Feet while searching for new walking shoes, and the…read moredifference was striking. Fleet Feet was, quite literally, feet ahead of the competition. At Road Runner, a foot scan gave me useful insight into my foot structure and what to consider in a shoe. The technology was impressive, but the experience was less so: the store seemed understaffed, trying each shoe often meant another 5-10 minute wait, and when another associate stepped in, I had to repeat what I had already gone through. More importantly, when I asked to try a shoe outside the scan's recommendation, I was discouraged because it contradicted what the technology suggested and was told not to try it on. Data can inform a decision, but footwear is ultimately experienced by a person, not an algorithm. A scan should guide curiosity and judgment, not replace them. I eventually tried the Brooks Ghost 18, but Road Runner did not have the colorway I wanted, so I bought them elsewhere. After my first walk, they began cutting into my ankles, and my search started again. Then I went to Fleet Feet. From the beginning, John made the experience entirely different. He greeted me warmly, did a new foot scan, explained what the results meant, and, most importantly, listened. He combined the data with his own expertise and my actual feedback rather than treating the scan as an answer. And finding the right shoe was not easy. Because of the anatomy of my feet, I ended up trying nearly 15 different pairs. Through every one, John's patience never wavered. When a shoe caused discomfort, he listened, reassessed, and brought out another option. He never rushed me, never made me feel like I was taking up too much of his time, and never acted as though he simply wanted me to settle on something so he could make a sale. What made the experience exceptional was that John seemed just as invested in finding the right shoe as I was. There is a profound difference between helping someone buy something and genuinely helping them solve a problem. John understands that difference. Eventually, I found the ASICS Novablast 6, which felt like the best fit for my needs. Unfortunately, Fleet Feet could not get my preferred colorway in time for an upcoming trip, so I ultimately left without buying a pair that day. And that may be the strongest testament to John's character and customer service. After investing all that time in helping me, John never pressured me to buy another color or settle for another shoe just to make a sale. He cared about getting me the right shoe, not simply getting me to buy a shoe. That kind of service is rare. I have met plenty of people who are knowledgeable, and plenty who are friendly. It is much rarer to find someone who combines expertise, patience, attentiveness, and genuine care for the customer's outcome the way John did. Fleet Feet, you have an exceptional employee in John. A foot scan can provide data and a system can generate recommendations, but neither can replace someone who listens carefully, applies expertise, adapts when the obvious answer is not working, and stays committed until the customer has a real solution. John turned what had become an incredibly frustrating search into one of the best retail experiences I've had in a long time. Thank you, John. Your patience, expertise, and genuine commitment to helping me find the right fit did not go unnoticed. Fleet Feet is lucky to have you.

After using this choose, I found out that I had a problem with my heels. They are swollen and the pimples because of those shoes. I try to take them back to the Store a week ago and I spoke with Rocio Hernandez. I explained to her the problem with the pair of shoes I have. She told me you cannot return them because simply I wore them. Well, how I would find out if I have a problem if I don't wear the. I paid over $80 each. Rocio and another sales lady was very rude today. I was told that the pair of shoes I have they are not for exercising, which, this was not what I have been told by Ernesto when I bought them. I simply wanted to exchange them to another pair of shoes to use them to exercise not to walk like this too. She doesn't know how to treat a client and I'm reporting this Store. My . When she first asked if I needed help, I told her I didn't because I was just browsing; later, when I decided on a pair of sneakers and asked for assistance, she snapped, "That's why I asked if you needed help earlier," looking completely sour and bitter. Honestly, she is a terrible employee. I do not recommend this store--the customer service is very poor. 0/10. My husband also asked her about a shoe size for my baby, and she was incredibly rude--she didn't even come over or anything; she just said, "Only the sizes you see there," and was very arrogant about it. The service was terrible. I had already heard bad reviews about that store, but I went because it was nearby; I will never visit that place again. You go there to make a purchase with your own money, not to beg them for service only to have them come over with attitude; if they don't like their job, they should just quit! I am never coming back to this store, and I don't recommend going there.
