The worst nail salon experience. The nail shape was completely uneven, leaning to one side, and all ten fingers had rhinestones placed off-center, also leaning to one side. They even applied some kind of clear gel over the stones, making them blurry and dull instead of sparkling. I've been to many nail salons in both New York and New Jersey, and I've never seen such poor skills before. While I'm satisfied with the pedicure, the manicure was truly disappointing. I loved the service when I was there! I got the pedicure and it even came with a hot stone massage which felt amazing. I also got gel nails removal and this is where I had the most problems. They spent a long time buffing my extensions away and was a bit rough and I was very surprised because usually at salons they use a soaking solution to help get it off before they do the buffing. Now it's two- three weeks later and my nails are now incredibly fragile and 3-4 of them cracked in the middle and through the side :( This has never happened to me at any other salons and I am incredibly disappointed. read more

Beautiful salon with amazing service. Very clean, they have clear plastic dividors due to COVID. Masks must still be worn in this business. I had been doing my own nails for several years but finally decided on getting a mani/pedi. I called and was told I could come right away. They seem to be walk in friendly and also offer appointments if you call. I live 2 blocks away so this nail salon was an easy choice! Most of my neighbors have been going here for years. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. The woman that did my pedicure was amazing. They go the whole 9 yards for pedis. Hot stones, hot towels, scrubs, lotion, etc. I could have fallen asleep in the massage chair. I got a regular pedi and paid an additional $12 for the callus remover (always worth it). The woman who did my nails was also named Julie and she was phenomenal as well. She did an astounding job on my gel manicure. They also do the hot towels/lotion/etc for manis. The quick massage she gave me was great. I have had so many knots in my neck/shoulders area and felt the tension release. They will give you a card that you should bring every time for them to fill out. After 10 visits, you get a free regular manicure or a discount. read more

Best pedicure I've ever had. Helen was very friendly and competent. My pedicure turned out amazing. What i wanted more than the color was the foot treatment because i had very dry skin and calluses. My feet felt so soft and smooth after. They included a massage during the pedi, hot stone treatment and paraffin wax heel treatment and a shoulder massage after, at no extra cost. This was the worst pedicure experience I've ever had. First of all when I walked into this place, the person in front was talking on the phone and wasn't even looking at me. That's was fine, it can get busy, I understand. She was trying to talk to me while on the phone, I said I'm here for gel pedicure ( I called in for reservation a day before). Then she talked on the phone when I answered her back. Another person in the back who was handling her own customer tried to ask me again and I spoke back and she was yelling at me saying "excuse me?". I know she was having a hard time hearing me.. but don't half ass it when you greet a customer. I'm not trying to be treated like a princess, but If you are busy, tell them to wait then they will wait for you. It was little chaos and the first impression of place was not that good. I sat down and tried to look for the color I want. I've never seen a color chart like this and they barely have any colors I want. Everything was too bold and glittery. So I chose a color (semi beige and pink) and of course they didn't have that one. They started on my feet and the person who was talking on the phone tried to start on my nails. I told them I was here only for gel pedicure and she said she didn't know. I said I'm here for gel pedicure like 3 times (first when I made reservation/ 2nd when I walked in/ 3rd when I talked to the yelling lady). They finished my pedicure and I looked at them and they were not smooth, had few bumps and I could see layers. I wanted only one color. I asked them to fix it but not much difference were made. I guess they are not skilled enough? The price for gel pedi is $50 and a place like this, it's little overpriced, the equipments wasn't that fancy, I had better experience with lower price/ and higher price with outstanding equipment. I got a UV gel set in coffin shape. I've had my fair share of uv gel sets before so I know what I like and don't like. I'm pretty picky when it comes to my nails and having them looking perfect the way I want. I really love getting my nails done here. I get them done by Annie. She does them perfectly, exactly the way I like them every time. The thickness, longevity and shape are all perfect. I work at a restaurant part time so I have to wash my hands constantly and I have not had a problem with lifting at all. In the past when I went to other nail salons, none of them shaped my nails the way I wanted. But Annie just get it so right even with my messed up natural nail bed shape from years of nail biting. They make you feel welcome and theyre all so nice. At other salons i felt like I was pressured into getting things or making appointments more often than id like but Chic Shop has never made me feel that way. CUSTOMER BEWARE: Lots of red flags This was my first time at Chic Shop nails and definitely will be my LAST time at Chic Shop and I came in with my fiancé. When you first encounter this shop the nail techs do not greet you in the normal fashion they should have. The pedicure nail techs were absolutely amazing and I appreciate the extra care they took to making sure that my fiancé's feet felt smooth to touch. The pedicure nail techs demonstrated good bedside manners, carrying on a conversation, and letting us know what the prices were before we agreed to them. This shop would have been given 4 to 5 stars easily if it hadn't been for the manicure nail tech that worked on my manicure. I had originally asked and WANTED as soon as I walked in for (two manicures and two pedicures with color) then I ASKED how much for the French tips and no one was able to give me a price before I sat down. Once done with my pedicure I went over to the manicure table and she started calculating the price very quickly from $45 to about $200. I was glad that I was adamant about understanding why the price was so high and asking her before I got my nails done. This Nail shop DOES NOT LIKE YOU QUESTIONING THEIR PRICESThere was a language misunderstanding when she thought I wanted to pay for French tips when all I did was ASK for the price. She ripped up the receipt and started re-calculating I was told that I was getting a manicure which was the original agreement of what I wanted but instead she gave me a gel manicure, she repaired ONE nail which also cost me for which came to about a total of $133. When I decided to pay with my debit card she insisted that she took out a tip for herself and the rest of the pedicure crew but I took my card after payment and decided to tip the pedicurist instead because they did an outstanding job! One thing about customers it should be their right because they are paying to see if they want to tip if they truly feel the service was done correctly. I don't tip very often if I am being treated like a cash cow. Especially The fact that I am a Black woman people in the shop already looked at me as if I didn't have the money to pay and then when I got comfortable that's when they started adding different things to my receipt that I did not agree to pay for. Because my fiancé don't usually go to the nail shop to get his nails done he didn't realize how much they insinuated on adding different services to the bill so they tried to poach him to buy different things to go along with his manicure. I'm not gonna lie, the nail salon in its entirety looks good and is well uniformed in the way that they protect you especially during COVID-19 the service there is amazing but the way they treat their customers who are Black and POC is atrocious and the way that they try to con you into thinking that you should pay for services when you only ASKED FOR THE PRICE is the sole reason why I will not be spending my money or time there anymore. We picked this place to go to because of their HIGH RATING. Don't be fooled. BLACK & POC are not wanted. They only tolerate you but there's no real quality service that suits our standards. My family (including my husband and nephew) and I decided to stop in for pedicures since our usual place was busy. My husband's pedicure was cut short (he didn't get the hot towel or hot stone massage that the rest of us received) without even a mention of the lack of service. Yet, his was the same price. They seemed disorganized and weren't forthright in the estimated wait times for new customers coming in. The one thing I was very surprised by were their new prices. $15 for a regular manicure put me at over $20 with tip. Also, a very surprising number especially when the board still says $10- that's a 50% price increase. I come to this nail place religiously once a week. This is the best nail place I've found around here and it is always so clean, they make sure they take care of you and always put liners in the tubs for pedicures, use new files with each person, and sanitize things correctly, which is the most important part of a nail experience for me. The owner, Clara, is a very nice woman who has put together a great staff who I love. The ladies who work there are really great at their jobs and always make great conversation. I really like the ladies who work there and their overall vibe - but this was not the cleanest spot :-/ I got a manicure pedicure but for me - if I'm paying that kind of money - I want to feel at the very least that I'm getting a clean, star treatment. My nails were being filed at the same time during my pedicure - which is fine I've had that before - but they were filed right over me so all the residue and powder fell right back on me. They lady with the pixie hair cut did my nails she was horrible.. to me it seemed like she had an attitude and did not want to touch my hand. She was using the file and digging in cuticles. I asked the owner how much would it be to wrapped my nails in gel she says oh it's usually $70 or $80 I forgot the exact price but if it's too expensive I can give you today for $65 but no lower.
