I love a fusion restaurant concept done well and Chibanos Cuban-Chinese mashup was great! We loved the Chibano sandwich, the Chinese sausage croquetas, the calabaza salad (a pumpkin and potato salad with just the right kick), and the guava cream cheese cookie. They have vegetarian sandwich options, too- we liked the eggplant sandwich! There's outdoor seating in front and a cute courtyard and indoor seating in the front of the restaurant as well as a back room past the courtyard. You order at the front and they bring out the food. Service was friendly and I'm very intrigued by their breakfast sandwiches (served all day)! The vibes were great and highly recommend checking it out!

Chibanos is a fantastic addition to the area. Today was my first time trying Cuban-Chinese food and it didn't disappoint. As my co-workers and I were walking up, someone in the window signaled us to come in. Turns out, that person was the owner, Evan. The employee at the counter handed us menus and took our orders. I ordered the Vegano sandwich, consisting of mojo jackfruit, tofu and chili mayo. Highly recommend! The bread was soft and chewy. The tofu really stood out with the chili mayo. Evan popped over shortly afterwards to introduce himself and welcome us to his space. He shared that opening the restaurant was his plan for a very long time and it finally came to fruition. Majority of the restaurants along Pine Street serve dinner, whereas Chibanos is primarily breakfast and lunch. Evan said he hopes his business will thrive as a result. There's a courtyard in the back that we didn't get to check out, but I will definitely be returning to try some more items. Chibanos was a solid 10/10!

So glad to find this haven on Pine. Both breakfast sandwiches - Chino and Agoro are fab! The sausage reminded me of bbq ribs, and black beans were very hearty. Service is quick and super friendly. Ample seating inside, outside and outback! - great place for a meetup. Lunch recon is imminent. Careful, now slightly addicted to bakery bao.

Chibanos is a refreshing flavor in the neighborhood for breakfast/lunch. They offer a variety of sandwiches, a few salads, and sides and desserts that are packed with flavors. There is seating in the front of the restaurant, an outdoor space, and seating in the very back that just gives different ambiance. My favorite was the back room! Service was great & quick! Everyone is super friendly, Evan is stopping at the tables and checking in with the guests. For food, we ordered the Chino, Chibano, Chickibano, Chinese Sausage Croquetas, and the Yuca Frita. All of these things were great, my favorites were the Chino and Chibano. Chino reminds me of a classic breakfast egg and sausage but with a flavor twist of course and the Chibano had the perfect amount of pork in it. If you're a big fan of Chinese sausage, you will love the croquetas. I'm not usually a fan of Yuca fries, but the salt and pepper seasoning reminds me of the salt and pepper shrimp that I would eat growing up. It definitely elevated the dish. For drink, I got the HK lemon tea and it is exactly how I like it! I will definitely be coming back here!

I was very excited when I heard about this new brunch place, esp growing up as a Chinese American in South Florida. Multiple seating options both indoors and outside. The yin yueng was a nice balance of milk tea and espresso. I liked the chino breakfast sandwich. The bolo bao was soft and fluffy, as were the eggs. Good balance of sweet and savory.

The vegan sandwich was spiced and seasoned very well! Honestly liked it better than the non vegan sandwich! Very cute vibe but the restaurant is small so you might get a little bit of a wait. Overall would highly recommend for a nice casual sandwich shop!

I have not been this excited about a new Philadelphia place in so long! This spot is perfect and I have zero complaints. The space is perfect. Food is better. And the service was fantastic! Please rush here because I want them to do a dinner night,

I got dinner here recently after not coming for a while and was reminded just how good it is. Really delicious, authentic, and affordable Northern Chinese food - my mom is from that region and always asks to come here whenever she visits. The noodle portions are huge and expertly hand-crafted and cooked for the perfect bouncy chewy texture. The dumplings are also lowkey the best in Chinatown, with a thicker chewy skin characteristic of Northern-style dumplings, a juicy filling bursting with flavor, and a perfect sweet soy sauce dip on the side. Service is quick and friendly, with the servers able to accommodate both Chinese and English speakers and happy to give recommendations. And you can tell from the clientele that this place is a hit with both Chinese and non-Chinese diners alike. It was packed on a Friday night! It's BYO too so you can even imbibe in some drinks with dinner without breaking the bank. FYI that they only accept cash and Venmo for payment.

She recommended something for me to try next time -- the "Fresh EarthV Trio (V)" a popular classic Northeastern dish. I'm definitely adding that to my list. What keeps me coming back? It's the consistency -- the service, cost, portion, and most importantly, the flavor. After my shift at work, I genuinely look forward to that first bite of my Dry Chili Pepper Tofu. (Note: if you only want smaller serving of their great, thick noodles, order $4 add-on as a side in place of rice with regular dish.) I always have leftovers to enjoy at home. Dumpling orders are large and shareable. (Always 6 or 8 pieces.) My fave when dining in is amazingly delicious and huge Fish Fillet in Hot and Sour Cabbage Broth. (That's best with rice side to help absorb broth.) So good and healthful to balance the dough density of whatever dumplings you might also order -- they're all great. When getting order to go (or delivered) I like Kung Pao Chicken; it travels well. Order added green veggie dish for sharing -- I lean toward Chinese Broccoli; you'll really want the balance with the delicious dumpling and noodle dishes. Large cocktail menu -- Lychee Martini is so refreshing. Important: cash only for dining in. There's an ATM by their front door. Takeout and delivery accepts credit cards. Most reasonably priced parking nearby (if you don't score a limited street spot) is ParkAmerica at 1040 Race St a few doors down. However, I found that the meal didn't live up to what I remembered at the UCity Han Dynasty or the Sichuan food I've had at other spots. My partner and I ordered the dan dan noodles and double cooked pork belly to share, our longtime regular order. The portions were generous and prices were affordable, but both dishes fell short in some ways. The dan dan noodle sauce was mostly sesame-based with little of the chili heat I remembered, and there was only a bit of the ground pork topping. It left me wondering whether they hold off on the spice at this location due to the clientele, whether they changed the recipe, or whether it was just an off day. The pork in the double cooked pork was overcooked and tough, and the dish didn't have enough of the veggie components (leeks and peppers) to balance it out. Another minor nitpick - there was a World Cup game going on while we ate and the multiple downstairs TVs had the game on. The second floor where we were seated also had a nice big TV, yet it seemed to be left on a screensaver slideshow of random landscape photos. Would have been nice to watch the game! I was overall left feeling pretty meh about the meal. I'd give the UCity location another shot, but don't think I'd come back to the Old City one.
