What's with the the negative reviews? This place serves consistently good food with friendly employees. Love the grilled onions on both their delicious Maxwell burgers and Polish, and their parm and garlic fries are special. They may not be the fastest and their name should have a hypen between the Chi and the Shack, so people don't think it's an Eastern European place. Maybe they're not Portillo's, but I've been very satisfied at their quality and taste everytime I've stopped in. Hope they stick around for a long while! read more

Pricey for burgers and fries. Long wait time in drive thru (and even when I've gone inside), even when there's no one else here (lots of black shirts waiting around). Ordered 2 burgers, fries and onion rings. The order took 15 minutes and they forgot to leave the pickles off. Fries were uninspiring. Onion rings were salty and I love salt. That have a tip jar out. Decided to give this place a try again. Ordered a shake and fries...that's it. You would have thought that with only 2 items the wait time would not be that slow but it was. Have given this place a few trys and I think that we will find another burger place to go to in the future. Only thing I can say that is really good is the burgers. read more

To compare this to Portillo's - food arrives quicker, ingredients are fresher, atmosphere is chill-er, service is more personable (you are called by name, rather than by number. How novel.) A man who appeared to be the owner was there when we dropped by. What a friendly, authentic, Chicago guy. He made a point to engage with his customers, got stuff done behind the counter, and even remembered my name as we left! My boyfriend (who is a die-hard Portillo's addict) admitted that the Italian beef was good, albeit a little salty, while my Chicago style hotdog was... Perfect. The pickle spear was everything a Portillo's pickle wishes it could be, the bun wasn't verging on soggy, the tomatoes were fresh, and the relish was a color other than fluorescent. Also, you could actually taste the mustard. Had we known about the portioning of the cheese fries we would have ordered just one, but overall we both agreed that they were satisfactory. Now for the cherry on top of the meal, my Windy City Swirl Cake Shake. In the words of my boyfriend "10x better than Portillo's." The only thing I would have asked for is a bigger straw. read more

Gave chi shack a second chance tonite. Never again polish sausage, bun end hard and stale, no sport peppers means no sport peppers. Guess this is what you get for carryout. THIS PLACE HAS REALLY GOOD FOOD, PERIOD! I have been here a few times now and the food is exceptional. This is not a fast food chain so you have to be patient. They make it fresh and made to order. My husband and I decided to visit here and I was not impressed at all... we decided the menu was weak and the prices were ridiculous. .. while looking it over my husband asked the strange child behind the counter what was good just to get her opinion she rudely answers "burgers " no smile no interest nothing. Right there I decided no way am I eating here with that crappy attitude.. word of advice to the management if u are going to hire children you need to teach them how to deal with the public seeing how that's how u make your money. Ordered two Italian beefs. Overall one pretty good the second one dry and just thrown together. Order both dipped and with sweet peppers. Waited 15 minutes for my order staff seemed confused. Guy making burgers is lost. Watched girl bag my order very sloppy handling of order left half the fries on tray, and was not wearing gloves. I know they just opened so I'll give them another chance. Finding this place is like grabbing a handful of sunflower seeds and biting into that one seed, that was made by the hands of God...perfect roast with perfect salt and once in every ten bags flavor. Those who knaw on sunflower seeds know exactly what I am saying here. Chishak is the real deal! Where to start? Food is outstanding (don't be afraid to order a blue-line sub, they aren't beef and dogs alone). This is a sub you plan your day around. Dog was outstanding as well. Added bonus: the place is corner clean and beautifully kept up. The Family throwing the brooms and donning the spatula's truly take pride in what they do. Service is impeccable. It is close to a near perfect experience and it is an even better feeling walking out the door after dropping an Andrew because you just had a great meal and see a hard working family busting their tail providing a magnificent dining parade of fantastic! read more

I was busy all evening and didn't have time to have dinner early. It was 10:20 pm and I decided to pick something up carry out. Portillo's closes at 10:30 pm and I didn't want to be that guy walking in at 10:29. I checked Chishack's hours and their website states they close at 11:00 pm Monday through Saturday and decided to give this new place a shot. My wife had picked up a burger and hotdogs for the kids and she wasn't too thrilled with the food, nonetheless, I still decided to give this place a shot. I live a few blocks away and pulled up at 10:28 pm. I waited by the drive through for someone to take my order. Nothing. Waited for a few minutes still nothing, no signs of life. I drove around to the front, then to the pickup window where a young lady with window cleaner and towels in hand blankly stared at me. I made a hand gesture asking if they were closed. She opened the window and said "Sorry we are closed", I asked "Don't you guys close at 11:00?" She looked back looking for a clock (seriously no lie) and then to someone who I am assuming was the manager. They exchanged a few words and without even making eye contact with me, the manager mouthed "We are closed" as he counted pennies and change in the drawer. She came back and said "Yes, we are closed, you see sometimes we close a little bit early". Wow. Ten minutes early, I get it, but a whole half an hour early? Not a good way to start in the neighborhood having so many great alternative options, Portillo's, Buona Beef, Patio... I ended up being that guy walking in late to Portillo's, and guess what, they were still there and I was able to get my food. I am not sure if Chishack is doing well or not, maybe it's just not profitable for them to respect their own business hours and wait around for customers. Can you imagine however if other businesses operated this way? Your bank. They close up at 4:00 when their business hours say 5:00, Home Depot or Target making up their own closing hours? Not good. Not good at all. Didn't even get a chance to taste their food, never will and maybe that's a good thing. I'll stick to Portillo's and the rest of the local businesses that are serious about how they operate. read more

I came here for the first time today and I was not disappointed. The service was good and the burger was great, cooked to perfection with fantastic flavor. However, the highlight of the meal was the ChiFries, easily some of the best fries I have ever had. I will definitely make sure to return the next time I am in the area. read more

Give this place a try. Do not let the reviews stop you from eating here. I had a Chi Burger without the special sauce. It was one of the best burgers that I've ever had. I would rank ChiShack as #1 for burgers in the area. I also ordered a chocolate shake. I asked for thick. It was amazing!!! The chocolate was so good. Not sure what they use for chocolate but better than any chocolate shake I've ever had. It had a rich chocolate taste. The whip cream and cherry on top was a nice touch. In my opinion this place is amazing and you can tell by the quality of the food. So glad they are in Willowbrook. Take my advise and give this place a try. I can't wait to go back! read more

After reading reviews I decided to give this place a shot. I ordered a burger, chi fries , and chocolate shake. I was very pleased with the food! The chi fries were excellent. The shake was thick and the burger was juicy. Unlike the people complaining about the "wait" it didn't bother me one bit! I knew at point my food was going to come out fresh. Wasn't just a bunch a crap reheated or an old batch of fries. I saw it as being no different than going to a sit down restaurant other than the fact that I could drive through. This place was awesome! Figured with a drive-thru it's "fast food"...yes and no. When they asked me how I wanted my burger cooked, I knew this was going to be good. It was no more than 10 minutes but it's all cooked fresh not sitting under a heat lamp waiting to be served. Great portion of French fries. This is why these yelps are useless. This guy rips the place 2 days ago and then says he will be back in two weeks. What a putz. Maybe if he started his own business he might understand how difficult it can be at first. My daughters love the Chiburgers! they cook it medium so you must request if you want it well done for your kids. I've had their porkchop sandwich a couple times and loved it. We've gone through the drive through twice and waited at least 15mins to get my food. I love that my food is cooked to order but 15min wait after payment is just too long! This place is right by my work and I saw it had just opened and was excited to get something quick on my half hour lunch break..well that did not go as planned. First off a woman asked for my name and i told her then I said i need a minute to look at the menu she kept saying mam we dont have menus as i kept on trying to tell her i dont need a menu i need a minute to look over the menu so i believe maybe their system is not set up well. Then i get up to pay and the lady takes forever to ring me up..she seemed very lost and as much as i know its probably her first few days on the job i tried to look past it. Then after waiting 10 minutes she finally says im going to go look for your order then i see her rushing throwing my food in the bag then she hands me my bag i look in the bag to check my orders right and the box to my chicken fingers was wide open with bbq sauce all over it (gross?) I get back to work to eat with 5 minutes left of my break my chicken fingers are undercooked and cold and let me just tell you i could have gone to mcdonalds and get better sized and quality for what i received. Totally disapointed in this place. Overpriced for the low quality of food and service. Dont waste your time or money. Will NOT be returning or recommending sadly. read more

Waited 20 minutes for burger, fries and chicken tenders. Tenders smelled burned, burger not seasoned. There is a review by Kaytie where the owner Dennis L. responds to her review about the slow service back in November saying "we are hitting our stride...." Dennis, if your stride is having customers wait 20 minutes for fast food, you will be out of business soon. We will not be returning to this "fast" food place that gets food out to you like a sloth!! One more thing, turn down the damn music, it's a fast food restaurant, not a night club or concert hall!!! One more thing I just remembered, a customer asked for a plastic knife, the employee told her where they were located by the straws, but there were none, then the lady that was a manager or owner who was doing the employee schedule said they were out of plastic knives!!
