Working in Montreal for the week and while hunting around for dinner I did my usual Yelp'ing! I…read morediscovered Pub BreWskey near my hotel so I decided to check it out! Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: The entrance is kinda off the beaten path and the restaurant is located under what looks like some sort of laboratory. Once down the stairs you're greeted by what feels like an underground speakeasy vibes! There's exposed copper ventilation pipes, exposed warm lightbulbs, raw concrete, wood and quite a few places to sit. I sat at the bar on the metal chairs like all pros do! But off to the side is a set of stairs which leads down to the ACTUAL BREWERY where all of the beer is made! I loved that there were windows in which you could look out of to see the giant vats. Really cool. Service: Dany at the bar took excellent care of me and there was nothing more I could've asked of him. He was attentive, fun and made sure I enjoyed my time there. Food/Drinks: First up I started with their Brew Juice, a beer made right in-house. It was their "beer smoothie". It was sweet, filling, thick, sour and crazy flavorful! Tasted nothing like a beer at all. My first appetizer was the Bacon Jerky which is thick-cut bacon in a beer maple glaze, chili seasonings, sesame seeds and green onions. It was mildly sweet, salty, savory, thick, tender and really, really good and not what I was expecting given the name. My 2nd beer was the Double Goose. This one was deliciously sour, gentle, not too sweet at all or harsh. For my entree I went with their special that was written in chalk on the board! I was the Sandwich of Duck & Lamb. The salad on the side was GREAT! Good bitter greens with rich, robust dressing. The chips the sandwich also came with were seasoned well and had an excellent spicy mayo dipping sauce. Sandwich was GREAT as well! Bread was softer than expected. Rich, buttery flavor. The 2 meats were light and worked well together. The sandwich is called "Sandwich Au Lapin De Cannard", but "lapin" translates to rabbit. Warm, cheesy, comforting, filling. Lil' cajun flavor. Caught a bone or 2 while eating it. It happens. Value: It's a brewery that actually serves food and that's always a plus! All prices are in $CAD. My first 12 oz. beer was $8.75. My 2nd one was $9.00. The bacon jerky was $10.00 and the sandwich with salad and chips was $26.00. Extremely reasonable if you ask me. In conclusion, I really enjoyed my time here at Pub BreWskey and I would surely pay this place another visit. Beers rotate all the time so what I had may not even be around by the time you visit. Same goes for the specials on the chalkboard! Thank you for reading and supporting local businesses.

There was a nicely selected set of local beers on the menu. We had a few and they were great. I won't detail them as I think the selection changes routinely. It was tough to decide what to get. I was poutine-curious but was unsure about the foie gras gravy. Andrew ordered the poutine with the duck confit. He loved it and said it was among the best poutine he has had. I went for the traditional mussels as Andrew said this is a thing to get in Montreal, they will do it well. He was right, the bowl was huge and the mussels and sauce were excellent. The only thing I would change is I like a baguette with mussels more than fries so if that is an available substitution I would be all in. I loved this place, I would go back again when I return to Montreal.

This is a bar that also has a small amount of table seating, but the ambiance is clean and nice, not like a dive bar. Our server was great as well. I had the burger and I added blue cheese and pickles to it. They gave me lots of pickles which was great, but the blue cheese was spicy, I think it was blended with horseradish or something. My dad had the French onion soup and the feta with mixed vegetables. To drink I had the L'alveole, which was tasty and similar to a paloma, but could have benefitted from some salt or tajin on the rim.

It has 3 slices of ham (good and cooked in maple syrup I think), crispy bacon, sausages, eggs, baked beans and breakfast potatoes. The eggs were runny and solid at the same time which I didn't like while the potatoes were seemingly undercooked on the inside but fried on the outside. Their sausages were alright. Basically, only the beans, bacon and ham were good. The duck poutine beer sauce was delicious but heavy as you can imagine. The beet salad was fresh and nicely marinated. They offer a generous pint sized glass of cider based mimosas. On weekends, they offer an all you can eat breakfast for $35 with up to 10 drinks. How it works is they bring your table plates to share. We didn't try that since we weren't that hungry.

Weather was giving fall glory this weekend in Montreal. I wanted to enjoy it with a burger, a beer,…read moretop notch fries, and a breeze on my skin. Found this place in a Reddit thread and the Yelp pics sold me. Huge beer spot - the dining room had multiple expanses all leading out to an inviting deck and patio area. Outdoors seating can be a miss for me sometimes since restaurants don't always include seating to fit a wide variety of bottoms but Vices et Versa nailed it! There were small wooden chairs and also long bench/pew seating as well as some smaller standalone benches. Perfect. The beer list was excellent - you already know I got the sour and my husband got a framboise. I knorrrr! My tarty fruity sour vibes are finally starting to wear him down muahahahhaha Ahem. Anyway. Food: I got the bacon burger with fries. He got the spicy chicken thigh sandwich with fries. Let's talk about those fries. Crispy outside, pillowy inside. Yeeesssssss. And Montreal serves them as they should be done - WITH MAYO!! The waiter even took one look at the half full mayo cup that came with my burger and said he'd top it off for me. He gets it. He gets me. I know this place must be rocking on a weekend - if so - 100% worth the wait. Fantastic. On street parking is plentiful compared to other parts of the city. But if you have the time, drink up and call an Uber.

One thing that stands out is their extensive beer selections. In addition to a wide variety of craft beer of distinctive styles, they also offer pretty unique bottles from within Canada and internationally (including Bellwoods, for those of you from Toronto). Food is generally fairly decent. The cheese and meat charcuterie board is excellent, and other snacks such as yam fries and olives are great too. I didn't give them a 5-star (for now) due to their main dish of "sweet and sour ribs with rice". The ribs is of average quality, but the rice tastes really awkward - sort of like plain rice mixed with lime juice. They were probably experimenting with new menu items, and this just happens to be a not-so-ideal attempt :) I'll definitely go back when I'm in Montreal next time!

Ordered Dahl soup, chicken tikka masala, Chana masala, Tardka Dahl, 1 basmati rice (none comes with your meal, rather odd) and 1 garlic naan bread. C$79.33 I can't say we have ever been to an Indian restaurant where you have to order and pay for the rice at all. The complimentary cracker, papadum is quite salty on its own. I am not loving the onion salsa or the yogurt chia dip so much. Their complimentary items are not for me. 1 order of Naan is literally 1 piece of naan for the two of us. Best to assume everything is a la carte. The basmati rice is flavored and topped with crispy onions and peas. It's ok. I do feel for the 3 dishes we ordered, at least one rice should have come with it as an accompaniment. The garlic naan is good, chewy and warm. The lentil soup isn't so good, it's quite runny, as water and doesn't have much flavor to me. The Tardka Dahl is good. The Chana masala is good as well. The chicken tikka masala is the best part of the meal. Rich and super flavorful profile, sauce is fantastic with the bread or the rice. Huge chunks of chicken and not a lot in the dish. I could easily have eaten this on my own. Service was good.

We were already exploring the area so it seemed like a natural fit, so off we went. My general assessment of Else's is that it is more of a neighborhood spot than a destination eatery, which is totally fine because usually those are some of the best spots. Upon entry, we were greeted by a large open dining area with tables scattered throughout and a bar along one of the back walls. The decor is casual, with a dark color scheme to match the bar setting. Their drink menu is larger than their food menu, but despite that they have a nice variety. I didn't see any pattern with the food - there was a mix of plate sizes and types of cuisines. The pulled pork sliders looked good so I went with those; the dish came with two sliders and a side of coleslaw. I really enjoyed this - there was a generous helping of pork in each slider and the sauce had a nice tang to it. I'm normally not a fan of slaw since it is usually cream-based, but this one wasn't so it was quite refreshing and a good contrast to the pork. Service was great, the entire team was friendly. Overall, this was a really good find in Montreal - if you're looking for something low-key with solid food then this would be ideal. I'm interested how the vibe changes at night, so I would be open to returning in the evening for a drink and to explore more of their menu.

The rice was perfect and the sauce was good, though the large cubes of tofu were a bit bland themselves. Wifething had the fancy mac 'n' cheese, which was creamy and smooth. Endlessly busy on a Saturday night, but a good mix of two-tops and larger (8-10) groups. Great service and friendly staff!
