    Chana samosas
    Ann L.

We had dinner here our first night in town and were grateful they could squeeze us in without a reservation on a Saturday night as they were very busy. I'd highly recommend making a reservation if possible. They have a great cocktail menu with specialty selections and classic cocktails. I went with Desi Rose which was a great rye based cocktail and wasn't too sweet even with the grenadine. We shared the chana samosas which were delicious and unique. I loved the concept of cutting up samosas and serving them topped with seasoned chickpeas. The contrast in texture was really an excellent component to the dish. For my entree I had the aloo gobi which was beautifully seasoned with fresh, complex spices. We shared an order of rice and garlic naan. One order of each was plenty for our group of three. Service was excellent and the atmosphere is fun and modern. We loved the decor and artwork!

Great spot with nice seating and large windows! Loved the spicy Lamb Vindaloo with Garlic naan! It was amazing and spiced to a perfect level of heat! It was delicious as was their old fashioned, nice and strong! Great place if you want to get some Punjabi flavor!

Got the butter chicken and some drinks. Great overall taste and the service was great also. Restaurant felt small in a good way. Did not feel like a large chain restaurant. I do recommend if you are in the area for sure!

My colleagues and I came here for dinner recently and really enjoyed ourselves. Such yummy food and helpful staff. We ate so much! Chicken Tikka, Samosas, Biryani, Saag Paneer, Naan, Raita, Rice. Everything was so tasty. Loved the chicken. Tender with good flavor. Appetizers were great. Love all the sides. Service was great too. Food is easily shared. Good drinks and full bar too.

I have been to this location multiple times and I have enjoyed it every single time. They offer great selection of Indian fusion cuisine with friendly service. They also offer good variety of cocktails. They offer Raita, onions with tomato sauce served with cumin papadum as a welcome. We ordered Chana Samosa and Bhajee d'Oignons for appetizers and Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma, Chicken Korma, Butter Chicken, Lamb Biryani for entrée. I enjoyed every bite of our food and my favorite was Lamb Korma; it has a sweet taste that I don't normally go for, but was very delicious.

Cracker bread comes with delicious tomato and mint dressings (dressings not pictured)

The flat cracker like bread as an appetizer was very delicious with the sweet tomato and mint dressing, wow! Also, Fantastic Tikka Marsala, Rice & Nan and the Cosmopolitan was super delicious & refreshing! Service was super friendly and amazing as well. Was seated immediately in the main dining room which was elegant and relaxing. The atmosphere was warm and not too loud but comfortable. Light pistachio ice cream for dessert was perfect too! Had mint tea with dessert, great way to end a truly flavor filled dinner. Benjamin was a very helpful in my selection based on my tastes so I appreciated his excellent service. If you are searching for a very tasty dinner in a wonderful setting I highly recommend this restaurant when in Montreal! Very nice size servings and priced reasonably for the high quality flavors!

Interesting interior. Decent view from the inside. The food was very decent but nothing special, its just average indian food. The service was poor overall, we waited a while to hear anything from servers especially to pay the bill. Overall, i def would not come back or reccomend this spot to friends. The food was not bad but it was not great either.

Chicken korma was sweet and rich. So delicious

Love the ambience. Colorful, intimate and warmth describe this great little urban eatery. Love the staff, with smiles and the perfect amount t of keen attention. Love love love the food. Everything we had was perfectly done and full of flavor. The samosa chat was a standout as was the chicken korma. A great complement of beverages and the perfect amount table attention made this a fun and tasty experience. This would be the type of place we would bring friends to often if we lived in Montreal. Would absolutely return on our next trip.

I'm in Old Montreal all the time and had no idea this Indian option existed until today.. we loved it! The greenery creates a beautiful atmosphere, the food is very good and the service level also above par. Makes a nice change if you're looking for something different from the usual bistro type fare in the area. Oh and they make a great vodka martini!

Overall great experience we had on NYE! We wanted a resto with a regular menu and since we'd been meaning to try this place out, it was the perfect timing. We arrived at 6pm with reservations and was greeted by multiple staff and were promptly seated. Our server was pleasant and helpful with the recommendations. We started with the mango lassi drink which was sweet and creamy, definitely worth a try. I had the raspberry lemonade mocktail which was a nice thirst quencher. We ordered the deconstructed chickpea samosas and they were ok. I was hoping for some zing from a sweet and sour tamarind sauce but the taste was imperceptible. We did really enjoy the complimentary plate of light crispy papadums served with a side of pickled onions which were very tasty. As for the mains, they come in little "pails" which at first glance might seem like a lot but the bottom 3cm of the pail is solid so the food is only on the top 2/3rd of the pail. Note that rice and naans are sold separately which makes the dishes a little bit pricey since you'll need to add about $6-7 for rice/naan each. However, you do have the option of sharing with your tablemates. Surprisingly, I preferred the regular naan over the garlic ones as they weren't as garlicky as I'd hoped they'd be. We had all ordered lamb dishes and all the ones with sauces had a dozen juicy, tender chunks of lamb. The lamb curry was pretty solid and quite spicy. The lamb roganjosh was flavorful but had a hint of lambyness to it. The lamb tikka tandoori was great but obviously drier compared with the stews since it was roasted. As for the best dish of the night, it had to be the lamb korma! It was cooked perfectly with zero lamb aftertaste, creamy and delicately sweet. Our dessert was Gulab Jamoon which were served warm but I found the texture inside a bit mushy. We ordered some chai tea to wash it all down. We all appreciated this Indian bistro. Their service was incredibly fast and friendly despite being full that evening. The dishes are a bit pricy for the quantity but the quality was quite good. We enjoyed the cozy ambiance which was perfect for a double date. I could totally eat their lamb korma all day, every day while sipping on their mango lassi.

Working in Montreal for the week and while hunting around for dinner I did my usual Yelp'ing! I…read morediscovered Pub BreWskey near my hotel so I decided to check it out! Here's how it went... Atmosphere/Appearance: The entrance is kinda off the beaten path and the restaurant is located under what looks like some sort of laboratory. Once down the stairs you're greeted by what feels like an underground speakeasy vibes! There's exposed copper ventilation pipes, exposed warm lightbulbs, raw concrete, wood and quite a few places to sit. I sat at the bar on the metal chairs like all pros do! But off to the side is a set of stairs which leads down to the ACTUAL BREWERY where all of the beer is made! I loved that there were windows in which you could look out of to see the giant vats. Really cool. Service: Dany at the bar took excellent care of me and there was nothing more I could've asked of him. He was attentive, fun and made sure I enjoyed my time there. Food/Drinks: First up I started with their Brew Juice, a beer made right in-house. It was their "beer smoothie". It was sweet, filling, thick, sour and crazy flavorful! Tasted nothing like a beer at all. My first appetizer was the Bacon Jerky which is thick-cut bacon in a beer maple glaze, chili seasonings, sesame seeds and green onions. It was mildly sweet, salty, savory, thick, tender and really, really good and not what I was expecting given the name. My 2nd beer was the Double Goose. This one was deliciously sour, gentle, not too sweet at all or harsh. For my entree I went with their special that was written in chalk on the board! I was the Sandwich of Duck & Lamb. The salad on the side was GREAT! Good bitter greens with rich, robust dressing. The chips the sandwich also came with were seasoned well and had an excellent spicy mayo dipping sauce. Sandwich was GREAT as well! Bread was softer than expected. Rich, buttery flavor. The 2 meats were light and worked well together. The sandwich is called "Sandwich Au Lapin De Cannard", but "lapin" translates to rabbit. Warm, cheesy, comforting, filling. Lil' cajun flavor. Caught a bone or 2 while eating it. It happens. Value: It's a brewery that actually serves food and that's always a plus! All prices are in $CAD. My first 12 oz. beer was $8.75. My 2nd one was $9.00. The bacon jerky was $10.00 and the sandwich with salad and chips was $26.00. Extremely reasonable if you ask me. In conclusion, I really enjoyed my time here at Pub BreWskey and I would surely pay this place another visit. Beers rotate all the time so what I had may not even be around by the time you visit. Same goes for the specials on the chalkboard! Thank you for reading and supporting local businesses.

There was a nicely selected set of local beers on the menu. We had a few and they were great. I won't detail them as I think the selection changes routinely. It was tough to decide what to get. I was poutine-curious but was unsure about the foie gras gravy. Andrew ordered the poutine with the duck confit. He loved it and said it was among the best poutine he has had. I went for the traditional mussels as Andrew said this is a thing to get in Montreal, they will do it well. He was right, the bowl was huge and the mussels and sauce were excellent. The only thing I would change is I like a baguette with mussels more than fries so if that is an available substitution I would be all in. I loved this place, I would go back again when I return to Montreal.

I had the burger and I added blue cheese and pickles to it. They gave me lots of pickles which was great, but the blue cheese was spicy, I think it was blended with horseradish or something. My dad had the French onion soup and the feta with mixed vegetables. To drink I had the L'alveole, which was tasty and similar to a paloma, but could have benefitted from some salt or tajin on the rim.

Found this place in a Reddit thread and the Yelp pics sold me. Huge beer spot - the dining room had multiple expanses all leading out to an inviting deck and patio area. Outdoors seating can be a miss for me sometimes since restaurants don't always include seating to fit a wide variety of bottoms but Vices et Versa nailed it! There were small wooden chairs and also long bench/pew seating as well as some smaller standalone benches. Perfect. The beer list was excellent - you already know I got the sour and my husband got a framboise. I knorrrr! My tarty fruity sour vibes are finally starting to wear him down muahahahhaha Ahem. Anyway. Food: I got the bacon burger with fries. He got the spicy chicken thigh sandwich with fries. Let's talk about those fries. Crispy outside, pillowy inside. Yeeesssssss. And Montreal serves them as they should be done - WITH MAYO!! The waiter even took one look at the half full mayo cup that came with my burger and said he'd top it off for me. He gets it. He gets me. I know this place must be rocking on a weekend - if so - 100% worth the wait. Fantastic. On street parking is plentiful compared to other parts of the city. Food is generally fairly decent. The cheese and meat charcuterie board is excellent, and other snacks such as yam fries and olives are great too. I didn't give them a 5-star (for now) due to their main dish of "sweet and sour ribs with rice". The ribs is of average quality, but the rice tastes really awkward - sort of like plain rice mixed with lime juice. They were probably experimenting with new menu items, and this just happens to be a not-so-ideal attempt :) I'll definitely go back when I'm in Montreal next time!

We were already exploring the area so it seemed like a natural fit, so off we went. My general assessment of Else's is that it is more of a neighborhood spot than a destination eatery, which is totally fine because usually those are some of the best spots. Upon entry, we were greeted by a large open dining area with tables scattered throughout and a bar along one of the back walls. The decor is casual, with a dark color scheme to match the bar setting. Their drink menu is larger than their food menu, but despite that they have a nice variety. I didn't see any pattern with the food - there was a mix of plate sizes and types of cuisines. The pulled pork sliders looked good so I went with those; the dish came with two sliders and a side of coleslaw. I really enjoyed this - there was a generous helping of pork in each slider and the sauce had a nice tang to it. I'm normally not a fan of slaw since it is usually cream-based, but this one wasn't so it was quite refreshing and a good contrast to the pork. Service was great, the entire team was friendly. Overall, this was a really good find in Montreal - if you're looking for something low-key with solid food then this would be ideal.
