Caprese salad - good
Kiki H.

Loved chez black! Pretty much right on the beach with good views. Service was friendly and prompt. My Aperol spritz was good. They also gave us complementary Prosecco which was nice! My husband and I split the caprese salad, gnocchi, a Margherita pizza and meatballs and everything was excellent. One critique is that the tomatoes on the caprese were not as flavorful and juicy as other places in positano. At any rate, I would definitely come back.

Calamari

For being a place full of tourists, the food is pretty decent. Definitely make sure you have a reservation if you plan to eat around 8pm. We had been walking around the area around 7pm and joked that we didn't even need a reservation. Lo and behold, by the time we sat (7:45), the place started filling up very quickly. We picked this place due to all the recommendations on social media. While everything we had was good, it was just good and nothing special. You are paying for the atmosphere, location, vibes, and hype. Service was a bit slower than other places we've been to, especially with how busy this place gets, but overall, we enjoyed our dining experience here. Items ordered: -Calamari (not on the menu) 3.5/5 , we got this recommendation from a neighboring table as nothing sounded good on the starters menu. Was good, not fishy, and nothing special -Seafood spaghetti, 4/5. I noticed a lot of food in Positano was on the saltier side. Not sure if this was due to my normally bland tastebuds or the natural salt from seafood. Personal preference aside, we really enjoyed the simplicity and freshness of a seafood pasta with tomatoes. Large portions and lots of seafood! Overall, easy spot to get a reservation to and good food. I can see why this place has so much attention and hype.

Pasta puttanesca

We came because of the influence from social media and other recommendations. However, the food here was really just OK. My husband got the spaghetti and meatballs, which he found be a little bland, and I got the "pasta of the day" which was pasta puttanesca . I did enjoy it but it was nothing special. They have free WiFi which is always appreciated but I needed to ask for the password. I would recommend a reservation.

Chez Black is one of my favorite spots in Positano! Perfectly located right across the beach, with great food, a lively atmosphere, and the best people-watching. We ordered grilled fresh shrimps , bocconcini mozzarella di bufala & grilled octopus , everything was excellent and you can really taste the sea !!! A must-visit every time I'm in town and don't forget to tell them Flavia sent you!

Chez Black was my favorite eating experience while in Positano. My wife and I liked it so much we actually ended up going twice. Both times we were there, the staff were so nice and friendly, especially with helping out with our two year old son. They do have high chairs for any families considering. In our two meals we had the pizza, ravioli, and gnocchi. Everything was absolutely incredible. Super flavorful and fresh. Highly recommend!

Good food and drinks at an iconic location. What's not to love. Came for a spritz and stayed for the people watching!

Love the location / ambiance of this place! It's right by the water and has the cutest interior. The staff are super nice and friendly. The cocktails were good and we loved the heart shaped pizza. Definitely recommend!

Clam linguine (spaghetti noodles)

Our last night and we wanted to be in with the crowd. It was busy, but we were seated pretty quickly. However, placing a order was another story. It felt like we were being skipped over, but I'm sure they were just busy. The ambiance is nice as it is facing the ocean, but at night you cannot see too much. Just people watch and enjoy the hustle and bustle. The interior was full of photos with famous people and people that I don't recognize. We chose a good place I suppose. Our food came out pretty quickly. I had the clam linguine while my friend had the eggplant lasagna. Perfect dinner to end our trip, no complaints here. Prices weren't too bad, but if you think it's expensive, you're most likely paying for the views/location. We didn't mind it at all. They do have a lot of desserts to choose from, but we opt to get ice cream near our hotel.

The ambience was nice, but incredibly touristic. I enjoyed the dish I got. The prices were definitely high for the quality of the food. The arugula and tomato salad was refreshing, but I wouldn't eat here again. The service was great. I wouldn't suggest this for anyone looking for a quick eat on a larger budget. Otherwise, it is very expensive.

Heart shaped pizza!! Even though it was not the best pizza i've ever had, the heart shape made all the difference. Located right on the water, this place is a great stop for lunch. Outside of the beautiful heart shaped pizza, the mussels were pretty good. They were okay in size but tasted yummy!

Came here because it was highly rated and had nice beachfront views. We were able to be seated without a reservation. The salad came without dressing and was underwhelming. The service was very slow although they were pretty busy. It took nearly two hours for us to eat and pay. The pizza was pretty good but the wait for service was too long.

Had lunch during an afternoon trip. Very crowded but a really nice spot to eat and people watch. I had Pasta Carbonara, which was the daily special and it was on of the best Carbonara dishes on our entire trip to Italy. Tomatoes and mozzarella was delicious.

Fresh off the boat at Chez Black Such a beautiful restaurant in Positano! We came for lunch and the menu was full of choices! We got fried anchovies which was our first time trying them, they were yummy and lemony we also ordered the seafood pizza and it was truly incredible, everything about this restaurant was outstanding and up to our standards! The pina coladas we're also refreshing for a day at the beach the service was very quick the restaurant was full!

Good food - biased service. Stop here if you can't get in anywhere else. Old school waiters who really don't want to be working.

Many other reviewers have mentioned that this is the best meal that they've had in the entire country and unfortunately, without sounding like a false advertisement, I absolutely must agree. This was the best meal I have had in the entire country and I have traveled Italy extensively. They only have a couple of tables, the brothers, along with mama and Bridget, deliver an incredible meal, incredible experience, and the way the patrons feel after the experience cannot be matched. What the hell if we ordered Caesar salad, then meatballs, then gnocchi, then seafood with linguine, then the local catch of the day which today was amberjack, then ribeye, then dessert. I'm not alone in my prayer of this restaurant, my wife and my three children are unanimous that this was the absolute best meal that they have had in Italy. I strongly recommend this restaurant, but I would mention that you need to get there early because they do not take reservations. Please feel free to joke with Bridget about her Texan roots and her hallmark story which caused her to settle in Positano!

The Caprese salad was fresh and bursting with flavor, and the prosciutto salad was beautifully balanced with just the right mix of savory and sweet. Every ingredient tasted incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The drinks were equally impressive. The house Posides Spritz was refreshing and perfectly balanced made with a cherry liquor, and the limoncello spritz was smooth, bright, and easily one of the best we've had in Italy. We finished with an affogato that was the perfect finale, rich espresso poured over creamy gelato for a sweet, satisfying finish along with the seasonal cake. Service was warm, friendly, and attentive throughout the evening, making the experience feel personal and relaxed. The restaurant is a bit of a walk from the city center with a few stairs to climb, but it's absolutely worth it. The stroll back down afterward is the perfect way to walk off the meal. Between the amazing food, stunning terrace views, and kind service, Posides is a true Positano gem.

This was our first meal after arriving in Positano and we couldn't have asked for a better one. We arrived in Positano around 10 PM on a Saturday night. This restaurant was on our itinerary and was a 2 minute walk from our hotel. We walked up around 10:30 and they sat us immediately on the outdoor patio. We ordered grilled octopus to start and it might have been the freshest and tastiest grilled octopus I've ever eaten. We also ordered a spicy green sauce pasta that was top 3 best things we ate on our entire trip. I wish I knew the name of it so that I could mention it here. We also ordered a prosciutto and burrata pizza. My wife isn't a huge fan of prosciutto so she didn't enjoy it as much as I did. But I would happily eat that pizza again and again. The staff were very kind and friendly. They didn't ever seem annoyed that we came in later at night. Every day that we walked past them to go into the main center of Positano, they smiled and invited us back in or asked how we were doing. They don't have the same view that other restaurants might have, but what they lack in a view, they make up for in quality and service.
