This was our first meal after arriving in Positano and we couldn't have asked for a better one. We arrived in Positano around 10 PM on a Saturday night. This restaurant was on our itinerary and was a 2 minute walk from our hotel. We walked up around 10:30 and they sat us immediately on the outdoor patio. We ordered grilled octopus to start and it might have been the freshest and tastiest grilled octopus I've ever eaten. We also ordered a spicy green sauce pasta that was top 3 best things we ate on our entire trip. I wish I knew the name of it so that I could mention it here. We also ordered a prosciutto and burrata pizza. My wife isn't a huge fan of prosciutto so she didn't enjoy it as much as I did. But I would happily eat that pizza again and again. The staff were very kind and friendly. They didn't ever seem annoyed that we came in later at night. Every day that we walked past them to go into the main center of Positano, they smiled and invited us back in or asked how we were doing. They don't have the same view that other restaurants might have, but what they lack in a view, they make up for in quality and service.

Fancy, Da Constano is not, but great food, tranquility and a zen feeling causes you to slow your breathing and relax. We started with a bountiful order of spaghetti bolognese with meat, carrots, celery and tomatoes. Just like "nonna made" and a helping size nonna would of served. The flavor was meaty, tasty and very hearty. A Margherita pizza was huge, tasty, perfectly sauced and enough to feed several people. The sauce was delicious and not overdone while the dough had a nice chew. It was a great replacement for the calories we burned on the way up. Dining at Chez Black is an experience you'll never forget. Located right on the beach in the heart of Positano, the setting is as breathtaking as the food. Whether you're enjoying a long, leisurely lunch or a romantic dinner, the views of the sea, the people-watching, and the lively yet relaxed atmosphere are pure magic. The food is fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The seafood is a standout -- especially the grilled catch of the day and the seafood pasta, which was perfection. The pizza is also incredible -- light, crispy, and full of flavor. And don't skip dessert -- the tiramisu is a dream. Service is warm, welcoming, and efficient, even when the place is packed. The staff knows how to keep things flowing while making you feel like you're the only table that matters. Chez Black isn't just a meal -- it's a full Positano moment. Elegant, authentic, and unforgettable. I'll absolutely be back every time I return to the Amalfi Coast. read more

We had a reservation for 6:00 PM, and three of the five people in our group ordered sea bass. We were told that the restaurant had run out. The waitress then strongly recommended another type of fish. When we asked what kind of fish it was, she couldn't tell us the name but assured us that it was even better than sea bass and would cost less. Unfortunately, the fish we were served was very disappointing. Its texture was completely different from sea bass, and we did not enjoy it. Even more frustrating, we were charged significantly more than we had been led to expect, rather than less as promised. When we were leaving, we informed the host that we had not enjoyed our dinner. Instead of addressing our concerns about the food and the unexpected price, he asked us about the lemon shots. We had not been offered any. In our experience, these complimentary lemon shots are a customary gesture at restaurants in the area, making the question even more surprising. While the view and ambiance are lovely, they cannot make up for disappointing food, a lack of transparency about what is being served, and unexpected charges. We left feeling let down and would have expected much better service and communication from a restaurant in such a beautiful location.
