Who knew! I guess if I had read the little triangle menu thingy on our table, I would have seen that they indeed, do have a "TACO TUESDAY" serving 3$ tacos. I learned this information by asking the gentleman next to me. I'm putting this information in my review because I had to ask another patron however, I heard the greeter GIVE that information to an incoming customer. We LOVED coming to Chevy's here but this is the second time that important, menu/sale items have not been made known to my Sister and I. I would like to mention our waiter but he was nonexistent. Never filled our water, chips, never checked in. He did ask , on the way by, "Okay?" and kept going. I hate to say it but the customer service was TRASH today. It isn't your typical nachos where you get a bunch of chips and chicken and cheese, etc. it's ONE chip with cheese and chicken. I think there's about seven pieces per order was highly disappointed. I made a to-go order here the other day because I had my dog with me and wanted to have lunch in the park with her. I could not decide between the three chicken taco combo meal ($22) or the chicken flautas appetizer ($15) so I got them both and then I saw the asada fries ($14.50) and added those as well. I can be indecisive at times. It took about 20 minutes for the food to come out. The restaurant was mostly empty but they did have some sort of set up for an all you can eat brunch and I will definitely be looking into trying that. The rice and beans in my combo were delicious. The beans were flavored really well and that is so important to me. I did not really like the tacos but I think they would be fine for most people. The meat was way to moist and soft and the liquid made the slightly crispy shells soggy. The lack of cheese on the tacos also made them bland but my dog enjoyed the chicken from the tacos and honestly ate a lot of it. The tiny scoop of sweet corn tomolito on the side of the combo was a nice little treat and I really enjoyed that. I did not like the wrapping on the flautas. It reminded me of an eggroll wrapper but the meat and cheese inside was good and the pineapple, although a strange choice in my opinion, did add a pop of freshness. The asada fries were 5 stars all the way. The fries were cooked and seasoned well and the toppings were great. I definitely recommend those. Overall, I would give my experience a 3.5/5 but I always round up and the fries were so good they deserve some extra points. I will probably be back one of these Sundays to try out the brunch and update my review. read more

Decided to visit Chevys for a night out. Haven't been here in over a year but it's in a nice location with plenty of parking. It was a busy night but we got seated and ordered fairly quickly. This spot is clean with a bar and TVs at the front. Ordered buffalo wings for appetizer to start. I ordered the flamed mixed grill fajitas with steak, chicken, carnitas, and shrimp. My friend she ordered the three amigos combo with chipotle chicken enchilada, shrimp a la diabla served on rice, and a beef taco. Chips and salsa included. Hot food served fairly quickly and tasted great! The staff are friendly and ensured to refill drinks. Good experience overall. read more

The salsa was too smokey, for the chips and salsa. The guacamole was tasty; they make it there at the table and to your desired texture. The filling of my shrimp and crab enchiladas were good, but the pesto cream sauce on the outside I wasn't fond of. The rice was dry. The pinto beans had flavor but I didn't know it came with meat in it. Service was good. I had extra guests come late and I had to ask 4 times for them to get a menu. read more

From the moment we walked in service was on point. The place was clean, with the bar area having happy hour every day and big screens playing the games, giving a Tex-mex sports bar and grill vibe. I was with a party of 5, 4 adults and 1 kid. As usual the kid ordered chicken tenders, which he said were the best as he didn't even need ketchup or ranch for them. One ordered a giant combo with 5 different items, which she said was pretty good, except for the chile relleno which was not how she usually likes it. The rest of us ordered fajitas. The tortillas are still the thick handmade flour tortillas which are great by themselves or with butter. The fajitas don't come with guacamole, so we ordered a discounted happy hour guacamole and fajita nachos to start. I also ordered a strawberry margarita which was nice and strong, better than I remember. Where they can improve is they should check their restrooms more often. The men's room was in need of paper towels. The tamalito they put in the place was the smallest teaspoon sized bit, they could at least add a scoop. Overall we all enjoyed our food and will definitely come back. That's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating. read more

Adjective: Attentive We've not been to this Chevy's before even though we used to live in Elk Grove. It's never been a regular restaurant for us, but lately we joined their rewards program and started eating at Chevy's, first at the one on the River and today at the one in Laguna. This one is pretty happening. We were greeted and seated quickly. Jr. was our server and he was attentive. He gave us 2 heaping baskets of their famous tortilla chips and salsa. My kids devoured them right away, but my hubby really went all out. I came back to the table from washing my hands before eating and one basket was almost empty, lol. Jr. graciously gave us a refill. We ordered 2 happy hour items which I find very good value, my big kid ordered the Spicy BBQ chicken quesadilla, and my younger one had the beef birria which is my personal favorite. Hubby had the birthday entree reward from his birthday not long ago and we split the Fajita plate that's the big one for $30 (kind of pricey for what it is). All the food came quickly and were sizzling hot and yummy. Again the 2 HH were the best. Atmosphere was ok, staff was very busy so maybe that's why it was a little tense. When in on Friday night (5/01/26) we sat at the bar side waited about 10mins for our waiter to come by. Ordered drinks and appetizers everything was going smoothly until we ordered our main plates. We ordered surf and turf fajitas, bowl of tortilla soup plus the Chevys tacos and the rib plate there's was 3 of us. The waiter told my daughter you want the cup of soup because you already having the tacos, excuse me so what if my daughter wants the bowl of soup and tacos, then he asked husband what kind of taco he wanted anyway to make this short he got the order wrong. He brought out the wrong plate no fajitas and we told him twice what he was ordering and showed him the pic, my plate was missing the baked beans. But before he brought out our food he asked if we wanted more chips before we could answer he said probably not because you guys finished your guacamole and took off and brought more salsa and no chips lol... he never asked if we need more drinks. It was like he didn't understand what we were saying and he would answer for us. This was like the 3rd we get him as a waiter and I never like how he treated us we saw the difference with others, but after reading reviews on here I guess I need to ask for junior everyone says he's pretty good. Sunday All You Can Eat Champagne Brunch: Usually I am not a big fan of Chevys but we came in for their Sunday AYCE brunch and I was very impressed by the selection and flavors of all the dishes I tried. We came in at 10:30am before the crowds arrived. Our server was amazing. She made sure to come by often to top off our champagne, bring fresh pancakes that were so so good! The atmosphere was very welcoming and friendly. The food was hot, fresh and delicious. The egg bar was delicious. You could get them done however you like. The omelette was really good. Stopped by Chevy's for lunch today. Ordered a kids pizza and a fajita lunch special. The fajita came with all the necessary condiments with a bag of (3) hot mini flour tortillas. Their tortillas are always good. A decent serving of chicken but it was pretty dry. My granddaughter liked the pizza, and Shirley temple, but they forgot to give her the sundae that comes with the meal. We love their fresh and light chips and salsa. We were called and led to our table, and as soon as we sat down, we noticed a light bulb was burned out. When our waiter returned, we mentioned the light. He simply said, "Oh, sorry." I asked if he could replace it, and he replied, "We can't fix it." I was taken aback and thought, "Well, if you can't fix it, you should offer us another table with better lighting." When he passed by after serving other guests, I asked to be moved to a different table, and he agreed. When our food arrived, I realized we hadn't been given any utensils. We waited about 10 minutes to find him and ask for them. He eventually brought them over without an apology or any acknowledgment of the delay. I understand it was a special and likely busy day for Mother's Day, but I was unhappy with the service we received. We still left a tip, but it wasn't the usual 18% or 20% we typically give when dining out. We usually support local restaurants in Elk Grove, but we will definitely not be returning to this particular one. read more

It's been quite a while since I have been to a Chevy's restaurant and I'm not sure why because every time I've gone, I am always happy with my meal! First off, one cannot go wrong with their chips and salsa. They have the perfect thin crispy tortilla chips that hold just the right amount of salt and crunch. Their salsa has always been good, but on this occasion, it tasted very fresh and had a touch of roasted chilies that just made it chefs kiss. It's super easy to over stuff yourself on the chips because once you start, it's almost impossible to stop! I was craving a good margarita so I thought I would try the black diamond margarita. This one was very different for sure. Along with a silver tequila, it also includes Hennessy cognac and flavorful citrus juices. I love that they come to your table, where they shake it and pour it into a black salt rimmed martini glass. It felt so classy lol. They also leave what remains in the shaker at your table and I was able to get about 2 1/2 martini glass servings of this margarita so it is well worth the $16 price. I ordered the mixed grill fajitas and it did not disappoint. The mixed grill came with grilled skirt steak, Carnitas, grilled chicken and shrimp with butter to dip the shrimp in. The grilled onions and bell peppers were a nice touch. It also came with a side of refried beans, rice, as well as the typical condiments for your fajitas, such as sour cream, pico de gallo, and lettuce. I have to say my favorite part is their homemade flour tortillas, I could eat those with butter and just be happy with that lol! Yummy delicious meal and I walked away so stuffed. Service was also great, our waiter was very attentive and friendly. I think I'm going to have to make more frequent trips to Chevys!! read more

I absolutely love Chevys!! Growing up in the bay we used to go all the time! I miss when they would make the fresh tortillas in front of you with the machine. Food stays consistently good! I've never had a bad meal here. I went last night and ordered the Flamed Mixed Grill Fajitas. They ignite it at your table. And you get chicken, steak, shrimp , & carnitas. Fireeee !! So delicious. Comes with tortillas, rice & beans. And sour cream, pico & you get their famous sweet corn masa. What I noticed is this time it didn't come with guacamole and it usually does. It also doesn't come with cheese unfortunately. But honestly the fajitas are so good that all you need is sour cream and guacamole. I had to pay extra for the guacamole but it was worth it. Although getting our orders in were slow, the food only took about 20 minutes to come out this time compared to 40 minutes last time. Waiter was nice, but only checked in 2-3 times the entire time we were here and there was no more than 5 tables with costumers (3 with only 2 people). We didn't see our waiter again after getting our food until it was time to pay. We ordered pretty much the same food as last time and it was still good. It wasn't as busy so the restaurant itself did not feel crowded and was not as loud as last time. Music was at a good volume. Again, service could be a bit faster, even on a slow night. This Chevy's has been at this location for at least 20, 30 years, and still is fantastic! No other place does chips like Chevy's. Something about these thin, crispy, salty chips is just fantastic. The salsa to go with them is also a perfect compliment, roasted, chunky, not too watery. We ate at the cantina/bar area, and they have a happy hour that is from 3PM - 9PM that is honestly a REALLY good deal. They have options ranging from $4-$10, and they're shareable. Chevys is always a go to when I'm back in Elk Grove. The crispy chicken flautas are my favorite. I always get the two item combo with both items being the crispy chicken flautas.
