He had a nice full evening, as did I. My Son was ready to go when I arrived. Unfortunately, the gas gauge read empty and I needed some petrol before heading back the Hotel. Since I was past the point of price shopping, this Union 76 Service Station was in direct sight and convenience. The Station seemed a little dark and tattered when I pulled in. I was ready to "gas and go", but soon remember that this was Oregon and that I needed "help". The attendant had just stepped inside (for a what I assumed was a comfort break) and initially seemed a little defensive about what he called my "2 minute inconvenience" after I tracked him down. I immediately thought of my lovely wife Gayle, and stayed friendly, relaxed and empathetic. My Dad also used to run a service station back in Iowa, and I haven't forgotten where I'm from. He dropped the attitude quickly and we ended up having a nice chat as he was filling up the tank in a very professional manner. I also kind of agree with the guy that the owner of this place might want to invest a little more into his property regarding overall curb appeal. Considering that there is a spot right next to the card reader for it to print, that is just dumb. I was happy that the gas prices are 14 cents less than all the other stations around plus this is in a spot where I can see it stlll being easy to enter and exit during daylight traffic.
