Their attention to detail was incredible. Two Men and a Hoe was an incredible company to work with. I will recommend them to all my friends for any future projects!

We have a large, rustic property that has very rough terrain, and we are trying to turn it into our home. We needed to create outdoor living space and correct some significant problems with drainage and elevation. Before we started work with Two Men & A Hoe, we had some ideas of what we wanted to achieve, but we thought everything about our property was either too expensive or impossible. As soon as they started work, they quickly made us realize that nothing was really impossible, and there were many solutions within our budget. From that point onward, they took every idea we had and made it better than what we had even hoped. They solved problems and provided creative ideas to generate options beyond what we thought possible. All the while, they were very mindful of our time and our budget. Since our fist job with them, we have had them out several times as our ideas have grown, and we will probably have them out again for future projects. The end result is this: we are simply overjoyed. Before Two Men & A Hoe, our outdoor space was not usable. Their skills and problem solving have created outdoor living spaces that we now enjoy every single day. Their work is simply awesome. There is no better way to describe it.

Decades of experience in land development & management in central Texas. Mitch was efficient and…read morereliable. Mitch and Christian helped build a farm road (see photos), clear a homesite, cut a half mile of trail, remove invasive trees and clean up natives. Mitch knows how to manage uneven terrain and erosion control in central Texas and was able to walk me through a range of options. You'll find the upfront pricing from Hill Country Retaining Walls is on the higher end of peers. After a couple projects, I've found it ends up being worth it to go with an experienced and efficient crew (Mitch and Christian) who can handle the unexpected issues that come up in any project.

Expectations were set based on previous reviews. Mitch failed to meet those expectations. I was…read moreleft with the impression that he is not trustworthy to do a job right. If you go to craigslist you'll find numerous bobcat/skidsteer services available. They charge from $425 to $550 per day. For road base the cost varies based on driving distance. In my case the cost is about $25/ton. It's about 1.5 tons per yard of material. For these services you'll have to be very specific and supervise the work. But, in the end it is a time based service and you get what you pay for. For my job I agreed to pay Mitch significantly more than the above amounts, easily 2x the labor costs. Why would I do that? Well, I did not want to manage the job. I was looking for someone that knew what they were doing that I could trust to do the work right. I wanted the work done once. I did not want to be in a position of having to call someone else out in the near future to rework the work. Based on the reviews and his other business that does retaining walls I figured it was a safe bet to go with Mitch. I had two parts to my agreement with Mitch. Individually, these were well compensated. After the first part I pointed out deficiencies to Mitch as he asked for the first payment. He assured me he would be back out to get these remedied. After that meeting he said some things that made me suspect of the second part of the work not being done right. I asked for either assurance (guarantee) or slight delay (wait for rain to ensure placement accurate). Mitch's reaction was insightful of his true character, he became argumentative about outstanding work and refused to own his future work. He was being completely inflexible. He agreed to meet to review and discuss. That agreement only lasted until his first check cleared. Then he turned into a ghost. No text message replies and calls blocked straight to voice mail. In the end I'm lucky. I only ended up overpaying for half the job which he never finished completely. If I had allowed him to work, as he insisted, on the second part of the job that part would have ended up a complete waste of money as it is obvious his planned solution was wrong and I would have had to have the work completely redone.
