Needed a new watchband. The clerk was very helpful and fitted me with one without any undue waiting, and the price was very reasonable.

Mon Amie Fine Jewelry - My husbands band

I brought my ring into Mon Amie because the stone had become loose. I was told by the associate…read morethat jewelry "gets loose from wearing it," and that it would cost at least $100 to tighten the setting, but that the stone would likely loosen again. Concerned, I went to another jeweler (Stoneman) for a second opinion. Their jeweler told me the issue was not normal wear and tear, but that too much gold had been carved out of the setting during the prior repair done by Mon Amie's jeweler, making the setting shallow and unstable. I was told that if the removed gold had been properly replaced, the stone would not be loosening. I had previously paid over $200 for this repair and was very disturbed to learn that the work itself may have caused the problem and devalued the ring. I reached out privately to Mon Amie in hopes of resolving the issue before writing a review. Their response was that the ring was not compromised, that stones naturally loosen over time, and that it was "unrealistic" to expect any refund. Their only proposed solution was to charge me another $100 to "tighten" the same compromised setting. I was not asking for anything unreasonable -- only accountability for work that another professional jeweler stated was done improperly. Being told to simply pay again to fix a problem caused by the original repair is disappointing and unacceptable. I truly wanted to resolve this privately, but the lack of accountability and unwillingness to stand behind their work leaves me no choice but to share my experience so others can make an informed decision.

My fiancé also got his wedding band there and he got to customize every single piece of it as well as received a free rubber wedding band so he can use that when he's active and not damage his very nice wedding band. I would highly suggest the store to any and all of my friends and family!

Avoid this horrific business and its unprofessional owner at all costs. We left thousands of…read moredollars worth of jewellery in their care for repairs and experienced WEEKS of delays, outright lies, inability to track or trace where our precious pieces actually physically were (there's no computer system, no recorded phone interactions- just hand scribbled notes in poor penmanship & employees who aren't appropriately trained and left confused), and unfinished work. When my husband reached out for the 10th time today Jacqui was atrocious to him- we told her we were no longer comfortable with them handling the order, they aren't trustworthy, and we just wanted to come pick up our jewellery. Jacqui told us that Hobbs has 'been in business for 61 years' and that we'd get it when we get it, and then HUNG UP on my husband. After going down in person to the store we were finally forced to get the Peterborough Police Department involved today. It was only under the threat of us pressing charges for felony theft that the owner finally produced my rings. They were at an offsite jewellers 45 minutes away, she had to send an employee to go get them, and the order hadn't even been started... despite being in their possession for weeks. Jacqueline can have her friends post fake glowing reviews all she wants, but they won't drown out authentic customer experiences. The only reason they continue to remain in business after "61 years" is because they have no google listing or reviews, no public facebook reviews, no registration with the Better Business Bureau, and therefore no louder way for us members of the public to warn each other about their disgusting business practices. As much as we all want to 'support local,' RUN AWAY from this place.

As others have stated, the people who work there are condescending and rude. I brought in three…read morewatches and asked about replacing the batteries and new watch bands. I have a large collection of Swatch watches and when I called the company they very graciously told me the ones I wanted worked on were "vintage" so they didn't have the exact bands but sent me complimentary bands. They also said they would replace the batteries and bands for free. I didn't want to drive to Boston to the store so stopped in a Hobbs. Rude, snarky and wildly expensive. Good luck keeping locals customers coming back with that attitude Ladies! Mr. Hobbs was such a gentleman, I'm sure he is rolling in his grave at the way his store is treating people.
