    Jumbo male crabs
    Donna B.

I'll never understand the bad reviews. I've been coming here for over ten years to get my jumbo crabs, they've never been anything but PERFECT and on time. I've grown up crabbing as a kid and we know size and cooking, and Chesapeake does it right! The cost of course is market value and fluctuates. The building is so cute, feels like you're stepping into a seafood shop on the coast somewhere. The service has always been friendly and helpful! They carry mostly everything you'd need and their seasoning is a MUST! Only thing I was not happy with was a surcharge for credit card, that's it.

My family and I have been taking home crabs from here for yeaaaaaars. Each time is to celebrate a momentous occasion... graduation, birthdays, anniversary, easter, Thanksgiving! We just love it

Giant crack in the claw. Disappointed!
    Finn P.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Purchased 6 live lobsters today. 3 of which had broken claws and damaged exposed meat. Refused a refund even though I was never given the chance to look at them prior to being bagged and paid for. Returned within 30 mins of picking up. The customer service was awful. The guy working knew he was in the wrong and still still didn't do anything to rectify. Beware. Apparently owners decision. Shame on you. Do better.

    Can you say Yummmmmm

For example; I got a meatloaf that I have to bake and it also has instructions which is extra cool to have. The owner, Christine I believe, walked with me to help me pick everything based on what I wanted and even helped me get exactly what I needed for a beef stew. From the veggies, meat, and base. I think it's because there just aren't any competitors in central PA (closest H-Mart would be 1.5h away, ASSI plaza 1h away, etc). The produce selection looked ok - you could get things like thai chili peppers here, bokchoy, or more exotic things like lychee and jackfruit. There are a lot of aisles with dry goods like rice, noodles, sauces (they did carry jarred Maeseri thai sauces which is what I was looking for). They have a seafood section which had a strong smell and a "food court" with labeled fresh food items which was pretty barren - maybe 2 takeout things of dumplings on the shelf that didn't look particularly appetizing (visited on a Sunday around noon). Also, notably, the store is not in downtown Lancaster -- it's kind of remote from everything else. I don't think it would be worth making a special trip for.

The staff is very helpful and the seafood counter is a great place to try fresh fish. I picked up some mackerel last time I visited and the seafood clerk was able to filet it to my specifications. I also love that I can get Hotteok (Korean sweet pancake) mix here! There's such a big selection of items and I always find new ingredients here that I can create new delicious dishes with. I always look forward to my next trip!

In addition to all the sauces, mostly Vietnamese and Korean, there are seasonings, spices, fresh produce including guavas, durian (frozen whole and peeled), baby bananas (apple bananas? not sure the variety) and Asian greens like Shanghai baby bok choi, gai lan, and water spinach, garlic chives and long beans. Didn't see pea vines but they are quite hard to get. Bulk rice and dried mushrooms, and fresh fish and seafood as well as meats including organ meats. Noodles fresh, frozen and dried as far as the eye can see. A small section of housewares. Outside the market (which is in the old Toys R Us if you remember back when) there is a small food court with roast duck, banh mi and pastries. There is also a Korean bbq restaurant and a noodle and dumpling restaurant nearby in the parking area, the Korean bbq is across from the market and the noodle dumpling house is next to where the old Borders bookstore had been (on the way out of the shopping center.) Worth the trip. We enjoy cooking at home, especially Asian food and we enjoy grocery shopping so this was a really fun excursion. And since we eat a lot of bok choi, we'll be back soon.
