Absolutely delicious! Had a large plate of jerk chicken with rice, beans, plantains and steamed cabbage! More than enough for the 2 of us. Service is friendly and the vibe is relaxing. It is NOT fast food. Just great food served by a wonderful chef in a cozy place. Definitely coming back. read more

Jerk chicken and the customer service was 10/10!!!! Definitely would recommend this place.

Warm and welcoming place. The food is WELL worth it. A relief to find a comfortable spot here.

Cherry's makes delicious food. I love the jerk chicken platter. The sauce on the chicken is so flavorful. The rice is also very delicious! The serving size of the platters are plentiful. You can eat in at the restaurant, take out, or get delivery. The place itself is nicely maintained and clean. The service is friendly. I would certainly recommend you give them a try when you're in the mood for something tastey! read more

If you are anywhere in Berks County and want great Caribbean food, then there is no place better to go than Cherry's Jamaican Delight! We purchased 3 large platters (oxtail, curry goat, and jerk chicken) to share amongst my family and everyone absolutely loved the food. The oxtails were juicy, soft, and falling off the bones. The curry goat was flavorful, soft, and was balanced perfectly with the rice & beans. The jerked chicken was nice & spicy and, to my surprise, the chicken breast remained juicy! Strong work! From the delicious food, to the great staff and ambiance, I look forward to being a patron of Cherry's Jamaican' Delight for years to come. read more

Instant hit! Stumbled on this place. Empty on a Sunday @ 1pm. A shame. Service was friendly. Not a huge menu, but a huge serving for the price. Jerk Chicken so good as were the rice and beans and plantains (2 small pcs). Awesome tables out front. Recommend! read more

So ive been eating here for years. It is my favorite place in reading to eat. The most authentic Jerk in Pa. Sadly i have broken two teeth on bones cause of my love for jerk. I will not be eating here again. I requested for my chicken to not be chopped since im over going to the dentist. I was told no and that it is ridiculous that i have broken my teeth. read more

This spot is official. When you walk in it's like you've entered Jamaica with the music, the vibes, the pictures on the wall and even the placemats have Jamaican patois on them. I ordered over the phone at 7pm on a Monday and the lady on the phone said I could pick it up within 30 minutes. When I arrived there were about 3 people in line before me. I wasn't sure how the pick-up/ordering process went so I just waited in line. Once I finally got up to the window the lady told me I could've just walked up and got my order. Good to know for next time. Here's what I ordered: -Curried Chicken (small): I'm not a fan of spicy so I went with this dish. So glad I did because this was so good. Each item in the platter had its own flavor but they all blended well together. Nothing was too salty, which I definitely appreciated. Loved the chicken, fell off the bone. The rice had a nice hint of coconut to it. The vegetables, omg, the BEST. I wish they put more vegetables because they were off the chain. Will be ordering this again for sure. -Coco Bread: eh, not the best I've ever had. The edges were a bit hard but dipping in the curried sauce made it better. Probably won't order this again unless I ask that it's hot and fresh. -side of Candied Yams: taste like Thanksgiving. -side of Macaroni and Cheese: was just ok to me but my husband and son both loved it (they are Mac and cheese connoisseurs). -Pineapple Ginger "Sof Drink": basically a soda but with really good flavor. Doesn't taste sugary and a good balance between the pineapple and ginger flavors. Will order again. -Carrot Pineapple Twist: love that they make this concoction fresh in-house. I didn't ask for this but it was good. It seems like they juice carrots and pineapples because this was not sweet at all and didn't taste artificial. -Beef Patty: my husband ordered and said it was very flavorful and delicious. -Chicken Patty: my husband ordered and said he enjoyed this one better than the beef patty, but they were still both really good. Overall great experience. Not sure what took me so long to try this place. Will be back soon! read more

There had to be different cooks today making different recipes from the last time because what was this!!!! I came here today again on my way from VA to my house and ordered the exact same platter with Mac n cheese minus the beef patty. Eve thing was dry and I mean everything. The only thing that tasted almost the same was the rice and peas. The cabbage was super dry, Mac n cheese not made the same at all, and the chicken was dry but at least had the same flavor. I was craving this because it was just really decent last time and I got so disappointed. Like whyyyy was my cabbage so dry??? I know restaurants like this have different cooks but they all should try to stick to the same recipes of the restaurant so the food is always consistent. The photos on this review are from the first time I came. read more

I often find myself wondering how much time has passed and I haven't gone here in a long minute. But it took me a short second of a decision to reward myself with this delicacy after a good long week of responsibilities and recovery. I had to pick my go to order which is the oxtail and this time I tried it out with mac and cheese. This oxtail has always given me the best experience from tender, yet chewy meat off the bones to eat along with the wonderful spices and flavors of the sauces and the mix cabbage. The drink was great too. It makes me want to order it again just as I have done so at least 2-3 times already. It's almost too good to not get it. With the quick and fast service and warm smiles from the staff, I enjoyed my brief pickup in their humble chilled comforting place. Next time I want to try out their chicken flavored niblets and other drinks....along with another order of the ox tail haha. read more

I feel I wasted my money I brought brown stew chicken And also jerk chicken both large but as a Jamaican it wasn't what I expected as a Jamaican from New York I expected the food to have tasted better it was a wasted $53 for 2 plates of food will never return while I'm in PA read more

We decided to try this place on a whim - Wow this place blew us away. Both the jerk and curried chicken was so tender and falling off the bone! We ordered two small platters and a medium side of Mac and cheese and all exceeded our expectations. This was our first time at Cherry's and we will definitely be coming back! Highly recommend if you're in the mood for some tasty comfort food! read more

Ordered takeout tonight and it was perfect. Service was so friendly and welcoming. All food was prepared as good as anyone would hope for. Tails were tender. Chicken fell off the bone. Mac and cabbage were both on point. Desserts were solid as well. Pineapple upside down cake was The downside... was missing two items from my order. Tried to call a couple of times with no success. Not a big deal. It's a busy Friday night. It was one dessert and a small side. I'm 25 mins away. Wasn't worth it for the $6.50 to drive back out. All in all it's 5 stars all day if I get all of my items. It's a minor hiccup. My family will definitely continue going back to Cherry's and I've already recommended it to several friends. read more

I love how strong the Jamaican vibe is at Cherry's. The seats outside are spray painted red, green, and black and they have tacky posters and quotes of famous Jamaicans adorning the walls. The place mats even have a glossary of common Jamaican slag and it all just adds to the charm of the place! That being said, the food is good! Another one of those local hole-in-the-walls where you know there is some grandma smoking a cigarette in the kitchen while stirring a huge pot of stew... That being said, food was solid! Recommended! read more

We grabbed takeout from here on a Friday night and were pleasantly surprised with this little gem in West Reading. We ordered the large jerk chicken, which came with rice and plantains - which was enough for two people, possibly three. I was instantly greeted, served promptly, food was fresh and warm, and sat outside to enjoy the Friday night on Penn Ave. We'd definitely eat here again, maybe try something different this time. read more

Literally just left this spot the customer service was very good.. prices of the food are shown and visible very nice layout inside the restaurant... but now let's get to the food I ordered a large jerk chicken platter with extra jerk sauce I get home after a 40min drive the rice was very delicious the jerk had a nice lil kick to it not as much as I would I like but ok, the cabbage didn't taste good at all.. and the chicken was dry and hard as if it sat their all day or was overcooked either way it wasn't worth the drive and I won't be returning.. but if you like dried out hard chicken then this the place for you 1st impressions is everything the size of the platter for 18 dollars and the nasty beef patties my wife got for 5 dollars simply isn't worth it I hope they were just having a bad day cooking and this isn't something that they do daily the people in that community deserve better... peace and love read more

The food is amazing. Jerk chicken is one of the best things I've eaten in my life. Flavor is out of this world.

Let's start by announcing this was my first time enjoying (can we stress enjoying) Jamaican cuisine. Again, find friends that know what you're supposed to look for. Celebrate these beautiful cuisines, and be grateful for the opportunities we have to immerse ourselves in someone else's culture. Anyways, clearly I have no base for judgement, pero I have wanted oxtail for years now, don't ask me why it took that long, and here we were. But even better.... curried goat. I love curry, I love coconut, I now am dangerously aware that I love curried goat. And their rice and beans?! I honestly don't know how I haven't made it back yet. Anyways, I actually didn't love the oxtail. Turns out it is very reminiscent to beef stew, which I am not a fan of, so although I am glad I tried it, I wouldn't order again. My friend told me it was good, but definitely missing something that makes it a trademark oxtail dish. Also the steamed dumplings... are literally balls of hardened cornmeal. The way the woman explained it I assumed there would be meat/veg inside, so next time I'll pass on this. If you're like me and you love cabbage and vinegar, this is one of the best pieces of the plate. I've always heard goat can be tough (I'm italian.. we stick to lamb. Sorry, don't hate me), but this was not the case at all. It was flavorful and not tough in the least. And let me sign off by saying the woman taking our order was tremendously sweet and helpful once I noted this was my first adventure with Jamaican cuisine. read more

Went here in acknowledgement of Jamaica's Independence Day. They had only three entree items available at 11:45 out of the entire menu board. Jerk chix, curry chix and stew chix. No traditional beverage just typical soft drinks found at Wawa or any corner store. No traditional cakes, desserts or sweets. I get the curry chix and the small looked like it could feed 3 people, lots of food. The rice and peas was very delicious as well as the plantain. The chicken though plentiful was not very flavorful. No ginger, no thyme, no eskallion... not saying they weren't in the dish I just didn't taste them. I don't think I will return however it wasn't the worst experience. I'm just looking for something that really transports me to Jamaica! read more

Found this place on Yelp while in Wyomissing for a meeting. Very colorful and warm welcoming feeling when you walk in. I told the person behind the counter that this was our first visit and asked him what are they known for. He said their two top sellers were the Jerk Chicken and Oxtail. I got the oxtail and my co-worker got the Jerk Chicken. The oxtail was excellent and the beans and rice were exceptional as well. My co-worker loved his chicken. Definitely would recommend. read more

Cherry's Jamaican Delight - This is the SMALL version of the jerk chicken with rice, peas, cabbage and pantains. Delicious - Caribbean Near Me - West Reading, Pennsylvania

My wife and kids request this place for their birthday dinners. We've probably gone here 10 times. I was going to rank it a 4, because the ambiance if you eat at the restaurant isn't the best, but my wife got mad at me, so as a take out place, WE are ranking it a 5. We always get the jerk chicken with cabbage, plantains, and rice and peas, and a second order of jerk chicken with cabbage, plantains and Mac and cheese. We've tried the curried chicken, but the jerk chicken is just too good. So much flavor. We are a family of five and just split two large meals and have leftovers that we fight over the next day. We are really happy with what you get for the money. It's a very relaxed place and the staff is nice, but we usually do pickup, so we aren't there that long. We tell our friends about this place and definitely recommend. Enjoy! read more

Beautiful aesthetically pleasing place but thats it..everything could use another 30mins of cooking.. oxtail NOT tender fall of the bone tender, curry chicken I was surprised to see big pieces of chicken thighs NOT tender also.. I was very disappointed on the meats.. the peas and rice was delicious with a hint of coconut flavor... Please cook your meat longer read more

New location, West Reading PA , right next door to the Barley Mow. My first time here. We went into said Barley Mow and were absolutely turned off by how bad the service was that day. (Took over a half hour to get a drink, and couldn't even place food orders), so we left and stopped next door. We walked in, were greeted by a very friendly host, and sat int he window overlooking Penn Ave. My girlfriend ordered the curried goat, I got the jerk chicken. Absolutely loved every bite of my jerk chicken, and tried the goat and it was amazing as well. Prices were fair, service was friendly. My only knock was the place didn't seem overly welcoming when you first walked in, and the picnic table/cheap tablecloths did not seem to match the amazing service and great food. So, maybe the portions have changed I the last couple of months. I always thought it was a little skimpy but was so full of flavors that I never complained. But this time I feel slighted a little bit. I got my usual, curry goat, and it was all bone. (Not all bone but big ass bones, and fat) I asked for a large, $14 and it wasn't that full. I need to start checking first and being a little more vocal. I didn't open my box until I got home ready to devour it. So disappointed ! The food was BOMB! Don't get me wrong, I just wish you got more the the price. I love this place, I do. That parking is ridiculous so I never go for that reason. I would definitely recommend this place and I will be back, maybe try something else. I always get the same thing. read more

Great food clean place would definitely recommend Escovitch if you like spice and fish!

I love island food! My SO and I met on Jamaica and we haven't had Jamaican food together since. So it was super fun to reminisce about being there while eating the awesome food here. First off, portions: HUGE. My experience with island joints like this are that the portions are never skimpy and they didn't disappoint. In fact when I ordered a *small* dinner portion my SO looked a bit surprised (I like to eat, sorry.) But even a small, which with a drink comes to $11-13, is plenty for a grown man. Check out the pics for proof. Second, meat: awesome. We had braised oxtail, curried goat and jerk chicken. All plates come with rice and peas (beans), sweet plantain and spicy cabbage. The whole meal was absolutely fantastic. I wish we were staying longer, I would definitely come back! read more

This is the probably best jerk chicken in Reading. I usually get it to go as the interior isn't that great. The interior isn't why I go though. The food is the selling point. service was great! great atmosphere. but the food is very bland, it tastes like nothing compared to other jamaican restaurants i've gotten back in philly. i can tell the rice was just white rice that was seasoned and added beans. the plantains was the only thing good to me. the curry chicken didn't have enough curry just tasted like seasoned chicken not too much of curry. beef pattie's were great. cabbage was such a disappointment it tasted like the stuff you use for coleslaw nothing like real cabbage. also they don't have as many options as you think there's only about 5 things you can order and everything else is on different days. also you have to get it with rice and cabbage you can't take it and change for a different side. real such a disappointment compared to real jamaican places read more
