food is amazing and I always crave it every once in a while. i got white rice with beans and steak. there's something about their beans and just makes it the best over their plain white rice with their steak sauce. only downside is that food is a little salty. also got an order of plantains and threw it in the air fryer again when I got home and super crispy but still fluffy inside. also remember to ask for their special ketchup mayo!!

All right, so my Spanish does not get me very far.. but luckily I can just throw my lady in line and learn along the way. And learn I do. I have been trying a lot of Latin cuisine lately, trying to figure out what I do and do not like, and I have now visited this specific spot twice. Both times, I have obviously been a bit out of my element, but never left to feel uncomfortable. I try to ask a lot of questions, and pick based off of those answers. Some things are already prepared hot and you pick as you go down the line, and others are ordered and you wait for its steaming arrival at tu mesa (i.e. Mofongo). I'm not sure if it's just Latin nature to be a little lighter in flavor/seasonings, but I always find my tongue craving more of a savory aspect (let's be real, I'm talking Asian flavor). I think Chimi has a great variety for someone like me, and my friend tells me its pretty authentic. I'm not in love with this type of cuisine, but I do enjoy what I try for the most part. All of my friends from Reading are fans after all. I think it's a great option for anyone in my shoes, and I recommend going out of your comfort zone and giving it a try.

stew chicken with rice and peas and some beans

Only problem i had was one lady there was pretty rude we didn't speak spanish so we had to ask for someone else but she was definitely rude as hell for someone who's first time customers , she definitely don't need to be in the front serving. store looked nice and cute. food was great! would really recommend. the oxtails was so flavorful and well seasoned. they gave us a good enough size for $15 but it had to be separate you can't get it with any side or anything but it was so good and juicy i don't even mind. the stew chicken and rice and peas was so good too. i also had chicharrones it was good and crispy and it had some good amount of meat too. because i've gotten them somewhere else where it was just fat but not this one it was nice and meat. and everything was a great portion size as wel

I was excited to find a Dominican place since I just moved here and wanted to find a place that reminded me of home. Coming in it reminded me of the small town I grew up in in NJ. Everyone greeted each other like family, there was no set menu on the wall, you should walk in knowing what you want. I ordered a beef chili and a plate of pernil with rice and maduros for my girlfriend and I. I knew the Chimi would take a little long since it's cooked to order but I think it took longer than usual. As time went on and other people kept getting their food brought to the table, I became very impatient. I think all in all I waited 15-20 for the Chimi. Once it came I was skeptical but ate it. It was good, the bread was a little to crunchy but I still enjoyed it. I enjoyed the maduros and the pernil. I would go back just to try other plates.

My skimpy plate of pig ear, rice & where's the beans

Wasn't impressed by this Dominican cafeteria style restaurant. We sat down & no one bothered to take our order. Normally, I was told someone would come over to take your order. I guess not for this non local. There were no menus. We ordered out of the hot serving line after being told it was too late (7pm) to make mofongo con chicharrones for me & they were also out of yuca. Smh When my plate of pig ear, arroz blanco y habichuelas came, I was like 'where's the beef er pork?!' Then I couldn't find much beans on my rice...sad excuse of a plate. Meanwhile, my fiancè's plate was of yellow rice and not 1 but 3 pork chops. This order with a batida & jugo came to.$23..was never so disappointed...especially my poor stomach...food was too salty.

They had uncooked pork. Got me sick. They are scanning with the orders. They don't have a menu for stable pricing.
