I usually don't give 5) stars to a pub, but this one is great! We went for a late dinner & this place was a gem! Rain was our waitress & was fantastic at service, suggestions & checking back on us. Super friendly! The place is a typical grub pub, but isn't too noisy, with GREAT food. Looks old inside but has a nice bar with plenty of seating. Again, the food is AWESOME! I had the Cuban Wrap & she had Mad Mushroom Pasta. Portions were big & decently priced. The wrap had a HUGE Smokey flavor! Really filling. The mushrooms, evidently, were fresh. This is that down home local place. Has a fun casual feel with cool pictures and trendy feel good art on the bathroom walls. Service was fine however it wouldn't kill the short haired lady at the front hostess stand to crack a smile or buy a personality maybe. Food was REALLY good! Onion rings were big and had a tempura like batter with the perfect crunch. My pasta was super, I mean super cheesy but had a nice blend of chicken, mushrooms and spinach. It was flavorful and you get a lot! Daughters breakfast meal was good but nothing special. It did come with a lot of bacon and a nice fruit cup. My husband got the burrito which had too much juice in the plate and made the tortilla soggy but it had a good amount of pulled pork with rice and brands.. he said it was very good. My family went for a weekend trip to the Hocking Hills area. When looking for a place to eat, we came across the Cherry Street Pub. I am very glad we did. The inside of the pub is full of different old pictures and things of that nature. It has an intimate feel as it isn't a very large place, but the layout is just right for the space they have. Our server came quickly and was very kind. She took time to listen to the children in our party as they ordered. She also was very quick to refill drinks and answer any questions we had. The food we ordered was very delicious. I got the fish and chips and an order of the hot old bay wings. The wings were a perfect blend of heat and that great old bay flavor. The only complaint I may have is the wings were a bit small for the price. The fish and chips was battered perfectly. I also got the hush puppies with them. They came with a brown sugar butter that was very good on them. Overall my family enjoyed everything about the Cherry Street Pub. I would drive the hour from Columbus area just to eat here again. We stopped by the Cherry Street Pub during a day trip down to Lancaster to see the Decorative Arts Center. Poking around for restaurants close by, I found a pub with chicken and waffles, so, off we go! The pub is located just heading into one of the more residential areas of town, with mostly street parking. We went in and one of my friends was lagging behind - they do not seat incomplete parties, so we had to wait for her to walk in before we could get seated. Great find - they have a patio! And there were seats! It's a very small covered seating area decorated with swag from craft breweries and a variety of fun signs, so pretty cool. Since we were there on Saturday, they were offering brunch. Everybody had a pretty good idea what we wanted - chicken and waffles! 2 of us ordered the sandwich, and the last friend ordered the full plate after I promised her my bacon (since she wanted some and I did not). We all really enjoyed our lunch. The sandwich is 2 waffle quarters with pecan breaded chicken, an egg, swiss, syrup, and bacon. If you're a light eater, go for the sandwich. I was actually a still a little hungry, but never fear - the plate of chicken and waffles is a WHOLE waffle with several pieces of chicken, so I traded some bacon for some leftovers! Everything was really good! Normally, I'd like a coffee with waffles, but wasn't in the mood at the time, so can't weigh in on that. They do up a spicy syrup that I think is Franks and syrup and did pack a kick, and the waffles have pecans in them as well. We also had a side of tater tots that were pretty awesome - nice and crispy on the outside! The server was friendly and the ambiance was fun. Take a peek at their banana peel shaped Wet Floor sign. My husband's birthday, so we made a trip to Lancaster to do some hiking and came here for lunch. We sat at the bar and had a nice conversation with the bartender about the history of the bar. Very interesting and it is a beautiful bar. Not sure why I did not take a picture. I was hungry I think and just forgot. Husband had the Chipotle Chicken Bacon Melt and said it was great. I ordered the Pork Tacos which was also wonderful. The beer selection could be better, but we were happy with what we ordered anyway. Great service and food what could be better. read more

Cherry Street Pub is a wonderful local alternative to the average chain restaurants that pepper most of the Lancaster community. The interior decor is very unique and highlights some key history of the community. The food is consistently good - our faves are the spicy chicken and waffles and the pecan chicken salad. The serving staff and bartenders are always pleasant. We frequent this place while in town for either a night out with old high school friends or even taking my husband's mother for an early dinner. I'm glad that Lancaster has a great local option for us to frequent. read more

This was my first visit to Cherry Street Pub. My first visit spending any amount of time in Lancaster, OH that wasn't a pit stop on the way to Hocking Hills, or points beyond o'er yonder. This place felt familiar possibly because anyone who knows me knows my affinity for pubs and comfort food. The older it looks the more comforting the atmosphere to me. From the outside, and this was my initial opinion for it being dark at 8:30pm, it looked like a quiet old establishment with parking across the street and a crosswalk that takes you directly into the wheelchair accessible front door. Waiting was no big deal as there wasn't a big wait from walking through the door to being seated- maybe 2 minutes. While this is a restaurant with a moderately-sizable bar it is still a family oriented dining place and I saw more kids in here with their families than I've ever seen at a McDonald's Playland. If you've read my other reviews, you know I am a fish n' chips guy. Every Pub, every Ale house, everywhere I can find it. Fish n' chips is my primary favorite relaxation food. They have a menu with several pages, that can look intimidating to those who do not have an idea of what they want ahead of time. I asked the question, in the off-hand chance they might be a traditional English pub if they had chips n' mash. It sounds crazy but mash is this weird chunky brown gravy that you can dip your chips (fries) into at old-style places Like Fado Irish pub. Good stuff. I ask when I go to places as I was talked into it years ago and it was amazing. They don't have it but that's ok. Our server was extremely cool and even asked if it was our first time as to give us time to look over the thick menu. I haven't seen that many pages on a menu since Mike's Unicorn Diner in Staten Island. But I already had my mind made up. The food arrived extremely fast and hot (pictured below). It looks extremely similar to that of the portion size and layout at Pat & Gracie's in Columbus. The big difference is this is Cod at Cherry Street Pub, which is still a very delicious beer-battered whitefish cut in a healthy filling proportion and draped over a bed of fries. My only concern with this was the tartar sauce. It wasn't anything special and that took away from the amazing fish. They take pride in their coleslaw as that is made in-house. I'm not really into coleslaw, as I've only ever had two places my entire life where I didn't mind it. What I will say, as I did try it on the Server's insistence, is it isn't my thing, for the reason that most coleslaw isn't my thing. It was too wet and the sauce, is it sauce(?), dressing maybe, is a thing I avoid the flavor of. If you like the stuff from KFC, this is far far better than that. It looks and tastes fresher than KFC. My significant other had the burger and onion rings as that is her pub food pleasure and she loved it. She also warns that the burger will require you to need napkins after because of the buttery toasted bun and the inside/out nature of its position on the awesome burger. Our server, whose name I forget (sorry) was freaking amazing! She went over and beyond expectations and her knowledge of menu items and changes and description of the skillet cookie and how to order it where you can enjoy it AND enjoy your entree in the same order puts her at the top of our list for favorite reasons to keep visiting a favorite establishment. Seriously, we have literally picked a place to eat based primarily and solely on the excellent service. Bring the whole family! It really is someplace for everyone! read more

So we returned to the Cherry Street pub because we had a great meal, but this time the waiter was seemingly annoyed. We ordered the chicken wings as an appetizer, they came out looking great. Till a bite into the second wing yielded a long black hair intertwined in the meat. We tried to get the waiters attention but he was clearly was uninterested. When the waiter delivered our sandwiches we showed the waiter the hair who quickly whisked the plate away and talked with other staff. We waited for a manager to approach us yet no one came, the waiter passed by yet never mentioned anything. We finally asked for the manager. She came over and said she heard about the long black hair and then quickly stated but I'm going to need you to pay for your food. I said I refuse, we have not eaten any of it and don't know what's in it. We will pay for our drinks but not the food. she took our plates away and that was the last we heard from anyone. We went into town and ate at the Ale house 1890 restaurant where we enjoyed an excellent meal with excellent service. That's the Last time we go to the Cherry Street Pub. read more

Great food, service, and atmosphere! Sat at the bar and ordered a couple beers, pecan chicken salad, and the bayou burger. Everything came out quickly and tasted fresh and hit the spot. This was our first time coming. Super cute place. And the wait staff was really good. Bummer part was the food. Which is surprising with rave reviews. We got the cheese dip, super good but portions were crazy small for $9. Then I ordered the fish n chips, other ordered the Ruben and the blacken chicken Mac n cheese. First, fish was awful. Not crispy, rubbery inside. Ruben had two small slices of pastrami... for a $14 sammich I figured more than 2 thin slices?? Last was the Mac n cheese. Decent. Nothing special. I also think the fish made me sick. Not sure of how oily it was?? Don't know but sick to my stomach before even leaving. Maybe we had an off day for the kitchen but for 3 of us to eat it was $80 with tip and we wish we hit up Wendy's or McDonald's. Won't be back. read more

Food was not very good. i had fish and chips. Fries were soggy and limp. cold slaw was very dry and not much flavor. Fish was a very smaller portion than before when I was there. Service was terrible. We had to sit on patio which is very isolated, dark and lighting wasn't working very well. Server was rude. first forgot our order he had just taken. he didn't write it down. Did not bring drink menu. Had to ask for ketchup, salt and more water. Was taking forever so we had to take ketchup from another table. Then we had problem with the order and he was not very nice. My experience at Cherry Street Pub was excellent! Greeted by a very friendly and funny service staff, I sat at the bar. I ordered their Mushmonster Burger; their take on a mushroom and swiss burger. The burger was tasty, juicy, and very savory with the mushroom flavors and their garlic aioli. Fries were crisp and tasty making a very good meal experience overall. I paired it with a sweet pumpkin beer that they had on tap. Very good combination of flavors. The inside of the restaurant is decorated much like any other pub style restaurant, but the old timey feel really brought it all together and was a very good dining experience They also have a summary of the buildings history on the front page of their leather bound menus, which helps put the building's history at the forefront of the dining experience. On a side note, parking isn't too bad - a lot across the street and some side road parking as well. Overall, a really good find here in Lancaster, OH. Highly recommend! read more

What an awesome local joint in Lancaster! Hubs and I went on the way back to Pittsburgh from a Hocking Hills visit. We actually didn't think there would be much of a wait on a Thursday at 2pm, but we were wrong. We did wait about 20 minutes... but it was also a holiday week. Our server was awesome (lady with cool short black hair, wish I caught her name). We started with the pimento cheese plate. While it wasn't my favorite consistency, the flavor was still tasty. Had the buffalo chicken sandwich and that was en fuego (literally and also tastily). Hubs had the pecan chicken and waffles which were SOOOO good. I normally don't like sweet breakfast items but I would totally recommend those. What a flavor! Highly recommend! read more

PB & J wings, I wrinkled my nose at the menu description, "no thanks" I thought. A friend told me to try them though, so I did and they were a delight! The highlight of my visit though was the Buffalo chicken sandwich. I consider myself a bit of a Buffalo chicken aficionado, you would be surprised how many restaurants mess up a classic Buffalo chicken sandwich. The on at Cherry Street Pub is hands down the best Buffalo chicken sandwich I have had thus far in my life. Crispy outside crust dipped in luscious Buffalo sauce, pickles, lettuce and onion to add some brightness and vinegary tang and a little dab of ranch to add some cool creamy flavors. Came here last night for dinner, we wanted to try somewhere new Menu: They have a decent menu selection for food, the drink menu was not to impressive. Our order: We ordered the Chorizo disco fries for our appetizer, for our dinners we ordered the katsu pimento melt with fries, and also ordered the mad mushroom pasta. For our drinks we ordered the fat head bumble berry and the ace pumpkin cider. Food: Our appetizer was extremely delicious all the flavors melded perfectly together and were seasoned beautifullly especially with the spicy mayo that come with them just wish there was more of it. The pimento burger was so good it was beautifully seasoned and when you bit into the burger the cheese was so gooey it just poured out absolutely amazing. The pasta was cooked to perfection, the mushrooms were beautifully sautéed and the cream sauce was absolutely to die for the chicken in the pasta was okay and the spinach was so delicious in the pasta. Drinks: The drink menu really isn't impressive its quite boring. The bumble berry on draft was delicious and the pumpkin cider was absolutely phenomenal was quite a surprise that I liked it since I'm not a big pumpkin fan. Service: The waitresses are polite at first but are extremely pushy when your ordering drinks. Our waitress was extremely pushy trying to make us buy more drinks and didn't respect the word NO. Ambiance: It's more of a bar grille type place not family friendly. Overall Experience: It was a nice place to go for a quick bite but I don't think we will be returning due to pushy waitresses. read more

So I finally went to the Cherry Street Pub and dined in-- here is my update, as promised. The interior is fascinating, with some eclectic decor mixed with some traditional design and an old wooden feel. The bar itself is made up of fascinating, grandiose woodwork. We sat at the bar and had a couple of drinks and an appetizer because we had just eaten a late lunch. The mixologist behind the bar whipped me up a dill pickle martini which of course satisfied my constant desire for sour. We tried the signature peanut butter and jelly wings which were perfectly crispy and served with a clever combination of Thai chili sauce and Thai peanut sauce. The friend I dined with had a Cherry St Cream Ale which is brewed exclusively for them, and was also delicious. Lastly, we couldnt go without trying the caramel apple slushy. Apparently the slushies are all made in-house with new recipes constantly coming out. I look forward to taking some friends there and trying the newest recipe soon! read more

The wife and I both ordered the pecan chicken salad with cranberries and mandarin oranges. The greens were a pleasant mix of iceberg, greens, and spinach. Most restaurants either have too much of one of the other. This was a well balanced mix. The balsamic dressing was on point, providing a nice balance with the sweet of the oranges and cranberries. The chicken was a hand breaded corn meal that provided a nice crunch. The boys had the cheeseburger and fries. The burger patty was very good. It seemed like fresh beef, and was seasoned well. The bun was fresh, and the fries were perfect for vinegar and salt. All and all we're glad we tried this place, and will be back on our next trip to Lancaster. read more

I really like this place. It has great atmosphere. I've been a couple of times for lunch or dinner, but unfortunately don't come often enough since it's not close to home. If we are in the area, this is our place to eat. This last time, I ordered a salad with salmon, and sadly, it wasn't great. The salmon was pink in the middle and I like it cooked more than that. I had asked for no blue cheese, and it came with. The server was super nice and attentive, so I can't be mad. I tasted my husband's chicken & waffles, which was superb. It is his go-to meal here. I guess it will be mine too. Tip: Get the Kentucky Mule. They add not only a slice of lime, but an orange slice. Really good. read more
