Came at 9:30 on Monday and there wasn't a wait, then waited about 10 minutes for the food. Ordered BBQ pork and fresh shrimp, both smalls, with egg on both, for a total of $8. Opted to only get soy sauce and no hot sauce, and it came with scallions as we didn't specify. Appreciated how they were made to order, they came out hot and we ate them standing next to the cart. While the flavor profile is pretty one-note, I liked the texture which was chewier than the standard cheong fun. Also, the egg was a steamed egg texture which was a plus.
Simple, yummy eats! We were so lucky to find her cart still open at 4pm (usually runs out early in the day.) As always, service was fast and friendly. We inhaled thin, crepey rice rolls with bits of tasty BBQ pork. Since I've last been here, prices have increased just a tiny bit, but are still super affordable with generous portions! This is a great spot for a quick grab-&-go meal in Chinatown!
It was by accident that we ran into the Cheong Fun Cart! We were actually on our way to visit a couple other cheong fun establishments but ran into Cheong Fun Cart first. Since it was the first place we visited, I went with a single order of Beef Steamed Rice Roll for $3.50. What a deal! Good size for a large and tasty! And it came out piping out! However, their roll isn't the thinnest version if that's your preference. We enjoyed it on the street during that frigid December day. I wish we ended up ordering more as the other places on our list were either closed or had an hour waiting time. Other items on their menu include pork, ham, chicken, and dry shrimp - $1.75 for a small and $3.50 for a big. There's also fresh shrimp for $3.50 and $7.00; BBQ pork for $2.50 and $5.00. There's an only rice option for $1.75 each, and the option to add a whisk egg for $1 more or corn for 75 cents. Service is fast and efficient.
Small street stall on the street. Bring cash! I've had my fair share of cheong fun before and I would say for $3.50, this place is great bang for your buck. However I do wish the sauce was a bit more rich in flavor. Lacked a bit of sweetness to it.
Nothing compares to having Fresh Shrimp Cheong Fun drenched in extra sauce and chilli on a chilly sunny afternoon. Made to order and piping hot! I am still thinking about it... Loooong lines that move semi quickly. The owner is so friendly and kind. Despite the long lines, she was super patient with everyone.
Came on a Saturday around 1pm and it was a 20 minute wait before I was able to order. They are fairly quick after ordering. I ordered the small fresh shrimp rice noodle roll. The shrimp tasted fresh and noodles were not too thick which was great. You can choose to add egg for an extra $1. They operate in a food cart in Chinatown so there is a lot of traffic when you're waiting outside. It's a good deal and tastes great. Highly recommend!

Food: The steamed rice rolls here are unbelievably fresh and silky -- made to order right in front of you. My spouse and I ordered: 1. Beef Cheong Fun (Large) I added extra spicy 2. Shrimp Cheong Fun (Small) Each noodle was soft, warm, and perfectly soaks up the soy sauce. You choose your protein - favorite option, e.g., BBQ pork or shrimp. The shrimp was an absolute standout -- flavorful and satisfying without being heavy. The soy sauce was not overfilled, and combined with the CLEAR effort they put into making the noodle texture just perfect for Cheoong Fun, I am so glad this is near a Chinese herbal store my spouse and I frequent. Service: Friendly, fast, and efficient. Even with a small line, the wait is short, and you can tell everything is prepared with care. Everything there are a lot of carts where I've experienced pushiness and the " give me your order and get out" service. That was not the case, especially during primetime hours, which is when we went. Experience: A true Chinatown classic -- no frills, just great food from a small cart with big flavor. Watching the cheong fun being freshly steamed adds to the charm. Definitely one of those spots you come back to again and again. Heard about this place ALOT and finally got a chance to check out. Just a small cooking metal cart that comes every mornings to make rice rolls with filling on the corner in Chinatown. If you're clean freak, you might not like what you see, but if you let your taste bugs to the decision making, you might have change of mind. Even though it say states the time of opening, you have to add 20-30mins extra for set up and for them to mix the stuff. We landed to NYC quite early and went here 15mins prior stayed open and found nothing there...we walked around (6:30-7am) and sat on the corner steps and waited, finally 15mins after, the pushed the cart out and a van drove by and drop off (several times) the ingredients on the sidewalk. One lady started mixing the rice mixture and two others doing the set up. Quite fun watching them doing it. Finally I placed the order and got a big portion off bbq plus egg to it for a total of $6 -Cash Only, I believed. Took about 5-7mins and I got the foods, with chilly. Quite honest, didn't expected to be a quite big portion for the prices and its just very yummy. The bbq was tasty, the rice rolls were hot and chewy and just simply delicious. We sat on the sidewalk steps and enjoyed it - we really want to get more but we just got in and there others to checkout. Definitely will come back for sure. It's for to go or stand/seat on the side street so you do have that Chinatown street foods experience, especially when it's start coming alive vibe.
It really is that good. If you think you have an idea of how good it is, multiply it by 10. For how cheap it is, they give so much food and it is heavenly. The sauce adds so much umami and flavor to the perfectly cooked noodles and the toppings add so much more depth to every bite. This place is worth the line and a must see in chinatown. The cheong fun is definitely on the thicker side so very filling, but they were also VERY generous with the fresh shrimp.

The noodles themselves were thick and starchy, not really my personal preference, but if that's the texture you enjoy, this cart might be right up your alley. We ordered the beef with egg rice noodles, but unfortunately, the portions of both beef and egg were pretty minimal, so the flavor didn't really shine through. Eating was also a bit tricky since there wasn't anywhere nearby to eat; we ended up standing along the sidewalk. On top of that, when we opened the container, the soy sauce spilled everywhere, which made the whole experience a bit messy. That said, the prices are very affordable, so it could be worth checking out if you're in the area and looking for a quick, budget-friendly bite. What's nice is that each dish is freshly made to order and only took around 3-5 minutes after we ordered to receive.
I bookmarked this stall on TikTok and had to stop by when I was in Chinatown. The stall itself is super cute, and the lady taking my order was really friendly. I ordered the Beef Chow Fun with an extra egg. The wait was totally worth it,the food came out fast, and you have to give them credit for making solid chow fun out of such a tiny cart. The total was only $4.50 ($3.50 for the chow fun + $1 for the egg), which is honestly a steal for the amount of food you get. The chow fun was a bit mushier than I usually prefer, but still better than most spots I've tried back in California. I do wish there was more beef and for that stronger beef flavor, but the added egg really tied everything together with extra protein and flavor. Overall, a great experience and definitely a place I'd come back to when I'm in NYC!
There was a line so I decided to get in line as well. It was about a 3 minutes wait per person. The rice roll is kind of thick, and for my big pork one the soy sauce they poured was not enough to compensate. Nevertheless, it was an incredibly filling and satisfying snack for an unmatched price. I thoroughly recommend it. Eating it on the streets may be challenging since they don't have seating or standing tables. Not sure if the furniture we used as a table is something regularly there.
Little street cart that serves the softest cheong fun ever! I got off the plane from LA and immediately rushed myself over to this little cart. I've heard so many great things about the cheong fun here and how cheap it is. I was recommended to go earlier in the day since they leave early or whenever they're sold out. Considering it's street food, take the cleanliness to your liking. My family and I got 5 different bowls and the total came out to $18 which is NOT bad at all. They offer soy sauce, peanut sauce, and/or chili sauce. Definitely only get the soy sauce for the protein options and peanut sauce + soy sauce for the plain one! Take it from me, my dad ordered all three sauces in all of our bowls and it was too much flavor mixing together in your mouth. Food: Plain Cheong Fun (8.4/10): The silkiest, softest cheong fun I've put in my mouth. You must eat this right away. This is not a take-home option because it will clump up together. Take it from me, I made the mistake of bringing this back on a 15 minute subway ride. Although I had to wait to enjoy, it was still delicious. Dried Shrimp Cheong Fun (7.6/10): I love a good dried shrimp and green onion cheong fun but this one didn't really hit the spot for me. I wish there was dried shrimp within the cheong fun. This cart (on Elizabeth, at Hester. NE corner) is OK. Average rice noodle, long line, disorganized. I got a classic dried shrimp rice noodle for $3.50 . I ordered in Cantonese. Minutes later I get my order in a plastic container. They didn't ask me what sauces I wanted (maybe I should have told them in advance) but they included some soy sauce on it already. What if I wanted hot sauce and or peanut sauce? Ample portion size but the plastic container is too narrow and makes the rice noodle lumpy. Large dried shrimp pieces but minimal radish or scallion, green onion. I know this is a cart but other establishments better in Ctown read more

Very convenient location on a street corner especially when a few other places have a wait. I ordered the large BBQ pork one. Reasonably priced but you also get what you pay for, small portion of BBQ pork. Fresh and hot rice rolls and packed well for my subway ride; stayed warm for 20 mins. We got the fresh shrimp rice roll. It was fine, nothing to write home about. Worth it for the price, but I probably wouldn't choose the fresh shrimp again because the shrimp was only OK. You order at the cart and wait ~5 mins for them to give it to you. They speak English and Chinese. Cash only. The rating is an A, which is impressive as a cart to have such cleanliness. read more
Admittedly not a huge fan of rice rolls but was looking for options in the area. We actually meant to go to the place down the street but mistakenly went here since there was a line and figured it was the place to be. In the end the rice rolls were pretty good for what they are. The portions are large (even for the small). I did enjoy the actual meat of the rolls but the rice rolls themselves were fairly mushy and difficult to eat physically. The pricing was pretty fair. In the end worth the try if you're interested in rice rolls. The line moves quickly and the food is made speedily, as well. read more
Ok this was probably the best thing I ate in all of my NYC and Philly trip. We did a walking dim sum tour and this was the highlight. This tiny steam cart is just on the corner of the street and for $3 you get this piping hot bowl of steamed rice rolls made to order with an option to add protein and topped with soy sauce and chili oil. If you've read my previous review, you'd know I had to run around Chinatown the day I ordered from Cheong Fun Cart... (I had ordered from Molly Tea and rushed here to kill time while waiting for my drink). As the name suggests, Cheong Fun Cart is a food cart that sells strictly rice rolls and is run by two older women! While the line wasn't incredibly long, I did have to wait a while to get my order in, but I don't think it took more than 10 minutes; though, as the closing time was nearing, I did notice a bit more foot traffic. I ordered a small fresh shrimp rice roll for about $3.50. I requested spicy sauce on top (which I assume was Sriracha), but I don't think she heard me, which is fine. Because there was no seating, I felt like I couldn't eat my rice roll immediately, which was a downside. After getting my order, I waited about an hour to finally chow down, but by that point, the rice roll had soaked up the soy sauce, so I couldn't enjoy my food at its peak. Nonetheless, the portions were quite generous for how much you pay; the shrimp was fresh and didn't have a weird aftertaste! It was also still steamy when I opened my container, and it had an amazing chewy texture that was signature to rice rolls. I also enjoyed the bits of green onion. Not the most filling, though, so treat it as more of a quick bite rather than a meal. If I'm nearby, I'd try their other options, and hopefully, I'll be able to eat it when it's fresh! FYI -- This cart is cash only!! A couple of my friends were in line for rice rolls, so our group went to join them. We had a light lunch earlier but wanted to do a Chinatown food tour sampling. Fortunately, the line wasn't too long so we got our rice rolls after 10 or so minutes. FRESH SHRIMP (SMALL) - 3.50 +0.75 to add egg to the rice roll Fortunately, the lady taking our order understood my broken Cantonese, and we got exactly what we wanted. My friend and I shared the rice roll (a bunch of them in an 8 oz plastic container), which was a perfect sampler for the two of us. The rice rolls had the perfect soft, slightly chewy texture. There were only a few bits of shrimp, but that was fine for the price. However, we found the rice rolls lacked flavor, as there wasn't enough soy sauce to soak through the crepe. The prices here are a complete steal. You can get a small container pork rice roll for 1.75 (half the price of fresh shrimp, which is already so cheap). If I'm nearby, I'd definitely try their other options. I could eat a full meal for under $5, probably. read more

Best Cheong Fun I've ever had . It has a lot of meat and the right qq (stickiness). The prices are extremely reasonable small for $3.75 and larger for $5. I really wish we had this back home as I would be eating this at least every few weeks. read more

We got in line since there was a long line... and it is good for what you pay for. I wouldn't say it is the best I've ever had, but it is definitely worth it for the quantity you get. As this is a cart, there isn't seating and you just have to find somewhere to take it to go to eat, or you can do what a lot of people have done and just stand there and eat it around that little corner. We got it with shrimp, and it was pretty good. The texture of the rice roll itself was really good. The noodles were soft with a little bouncy and it was not too thick. Personally, I didn't really like the shrimps in the noodles, it tasted a bit odd to me, but my friends thought it was good. I would also pass on the sauce used, as I thought it didn't go that well with the noodles. I thought It had a really herbal-ish taste to it which really threw me off. However, if you don't like the soy sauce provided with the noodles they do ask if you would like siracha to go with it. Aside from that, the noodles were great and worth the try if you want a quick and cheap bite. read more

This place was OK. The texture and consistency was not really to my liking. The rolls are soft and gooey and need more sauce and filling. Price wise this is the best price point for cheong fun, but I would say get more bang for your buck and go elsewhere. They barely speak english here and it is a to go cart only. read more
My favorite place to get Cheong fun in the city! I can't even count how many times I've been now. Whenever I'm in the area I'll make a stop by - you can't get better value than this. It's always made fresh and the noodles are so bouncy and savory. Usually there is little to no wait but I recently went during the holidays and waited nearby 30 minutes in line. For the price, this cheong fun cart is unbeatable! I came on a weekend afternoon and it was quite busy. I waited on line for about 15-20 minutes and it moved pretty quickly too so it wasn't a bad wait. The prices are super reasonable ranging from $1.75 to $7 and you can also add an egg for 75 cents. I ended up getting the BBQ pork for only $2.50 for a small, $5 for a large. But even the small was decently sized. I actually wish I got a large after I started digging in! The rice rolls are freshly made to order by the two aunties in the cart and it certainly tastes super fresh. The texture of the rice rolls were perfect - chewy and bouncy yet still silky smooth. They top it off with some green onions, soy sauce and a spicy sauce and it really soaks into the rice rolls. I actually wish there was more sauce and I should've asked them to add more before I left (a reminder for next time)! They also give a good amount of the roast pork, which was a nice surprise cause I was actually expecting less. Keep in mind that it's cash only and even though the aunties are primarily Chinese, they understand the menu so telling them know what you want in English isn't difficult at all. read more
I got fresh shrimp with egg which was delicious, texture was nice and bouncy. Service was quick and they ask you how much sauce you want/whether you want sriracha. Overall so cute to see the cart in the middle of Chinatown. I came around 2:10. It seems like if there's a line their closing time is flexible. I do prefer the sweet soy sauce (often served with these in dim sum restaurants) better than the salty soy sauce which is what they serve here. read more
This is the first food I ate in NYC and remains my favorite thing I had. There is no way to make it look pretty but it was everything. I'm so sad we don't have this where I live. I love this cheong fun cart. It's run by these sweet old ladies. I always get the pork with egg and scallion ($2.75 for small size). The cheong fun is on the thicker side but it's soft and smooth. They give a decent amount of pork too. Whenever I'm craving cheong fun, I come here! You just can't beat the price! But unfortunately, they don't have peanut sauce cheong fun. So if I'm craving that, then I would go elsewhere. read more
Hot, fresh, and made to order steamed rice rolls! And so cheap, you can get an order for less than $2! 'Fresh Shrimp': I love how thin the rice roll sheet is, it has a soft but chewy and bouncy texture. This food cart in Manhattan Chinatown is a true Cheap Eats of NYC. $1.75 for a beef rice roll is probably one of the best deals in the city, and the portion size you get for that price makes it very worth it. That being said, while I liked the texture of the rice roll, I wasn't the biggest fan of the sauce. IMO, the sauce makes the rice roll too salty, and I've definitely had better in the city. Good for what it is. Big portion for the cost. Dish ($10.50 total): 1) large beef rice noodle roll: noodles were delicious with perfect texture but the beef was unseasoned.
