Very good place to go in Tallahassee and Jacksonville from the experience I had. First time getting a walk on back and really enjoyed it.

This is your run of the mill chain massage location. I have been here plenty of times and it's consistently good. I wouldn't say spectacular but for the price it's hard to beat. The location right off of Park Ave is easy to get too but the cars can be heard in the room sometimes. Also the staff is nice and inviting but I'm pretty sure there are only two employees also so if someone comes in or the phone rings expect you masseuse to step out to attend to the customer. One experience, I wouldn't call negative but uncomfortable was my wife and I had separate massages at the same time and left cash tip on each bed before leaving the room. When I didn't write a tip on the cc receipt and after they were told about leaving the tip in cash the masseuse/staff became very offended pushing me to put a tip on the card.......I didn't and re explained the cash tip which seemed to defuse the situation. I chalked it up to a miscommunication and don't tip in cash anymore. Stopped in after a hella week for some relaxation. Open at 6:30 on a Sunday. Bonus points for that. Walking in it's unassuming and basic. The staff appear to speak limited English but they were very nice and smile a lot. The rooms are more than adequate. Soft lighting and comfortable enough table. Softly playing music in the background. As others have mentioned the walls are thin but there wasn't anything to hear when I was there. She was strong and firm in the pressure at some points causing me a little ouch but that's what I needed today. Nice scalp massage that was a pleasant surprise. $1 a minute is fair. My massage was good. I appreciate that. What I do not appreciate is that I asked for 30 mins and got 60 min. Could barley afford the 30 minutes, as a single mom, and now I'm late to getting my kid because of it. Also I was expecting $45 dollars for the massage for 30 mins. And last time I came, it was $60 for an hour but nope. This time I went in expecting to spend $45 and tip $15 and I went in and spent $72 and tipped $10. When I showed up for my appointment, there was nothing on the books even though I had a text "Hi xxxx xxxx,You're scheduled for 60 Mins Body Massage with 1177 Park Ave, Orange Park, FL at 11:00 AM tomorrow. Fast forward to today. When I arrived it was the same vibe, I received a cold "hi" and I was asked if I wanted to make an appointment. I explained that I booked a 60 minute body massage online. It seemed as though I was inconveniencing the lady. She said "go in here - take your clothes off". There was no hospitality or warmth to her tone at all. For the session, the lady walked on my back (not relaxing AT ALL) and used hot rocks. There was a time I had to tell her that was she was doing was "too hard" and she lightened up a bit. Her phone buzzed several times and rang once (and she ACTUALLY took the call!!). She left the room twice leaving the door open (I could see the light on the floor) and mind you these sessions "should be private". The music wasn't ZEN but an old playlist of sorts that included "John Denver - Rocky Mountain High". I've had a massage before and this was not that. This was almost comical. When she finished she simply walked out of the room!!! I looked at my watch and to see the time was up. For payment I gave her the gift card for the service rendered. She then asked for a tip. I questioned "a tip?". She confirmed what she said. I told her I didn't have cash. She said she would accept credit card. I told her I wasn't using my card (no cash on hand) due to the $2 processing fee, per the sign. She said she wouldn't charge it. Again, this entire appointment was almost comical. I'm very sorry my friend spent $70 on a gift card here. I can't believe there are good reviews but perhaps the bar for massages is higher where I live in Virginia. This place is a hard pass for me. I'm visiting my parents here in Jacksonville and needed a massage desperately. I found Chens Massage Clinic and based on a few reviews here on Yelp, decided to give it a try... boy, was I glad I did! I get massages pretty regularly - usually twice a month and typically a deep tissue when I get massages. I requested a 90 minutes. Now, while my therapist, Sofi, was a little difficult to communicate with due to language barrier and strong accent (I couldn't understand her and she spoke very softly), she asked throughout the session how I was doing and made sure I was comfortable. The clinic was clean and pleasant. Nothing fancy, but I wasn't expecting the Ritz. I will say the walls are very thin and the woman in the treatment room next to me was talking on her phone (speaker - very rude while at a massage place in my opinion) and I could hear her entire conversation. My therapist didn't ask my any questions before we began so I wasn't sure what to expect as far as quality of service, but I will say I could tell she was extremely experienced. It seemed as though she could tell my trouble spots and although she is a very small, petite woman, her hands were very strong. She started with fascia work, loosening the fascia, then did massage, but the style was different than what I am accustom to - I suppose this is the Chinese style? All I know is it was fantastic! She worked on trigger points and stretched and I left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Now, if you like a more gentle type, Swedish style massage, I don't know that you would've liked this. I unfortunately did not have the greatest experience here. I got the massage and facial bundle. Firstly, they do not fully shut the doors when you are in the massage room and given that you're just naked on the table it made me a bit uncomfortable. For the first bit of the massage the woman was asking me about payment, whether I had paid online and how much it said I owed them. It definitely made it difficult to relax. The rest of the massage was nice however. The facial was good, but I noticed the next day when I got home my skin was incredibly dry, cracking and actually started peeling. It got worse over a couple days and its finally just now starting to clear up, even though I was there almost a week ago by now. I've never had sensitive skin, or issues reacting to products before, but whatever they used kinda wrecked the skin on my face. They were also pretty pushy when it came to the tip. I try to tip well, but it's definitely uncomfortable when someone is rude to you because they don't think it's enough. read more

Blue fish Avondale was the absolute worst I've ever seen it. This restaurant has become so run down in my opinion. Back when frank owned it is was such a place now it is poorly run and has the worst food and service. We sat on the patio today where not one person out there experienced good service as apparent to all 4 tables. You can not run a nice restaurant with work release prisoners and expect they will know how to wait a table correctly. The menu really should be changed around once a year at least and I'm aware of several that have gone by without a change. Today's food was horrible 4 waiters and no one had silverware. Not only but it took 20 minutes just to get a beer and the place smelled of sewer and was in absolute filth. Menus dirty. Sticky tables. A hostess that coulunderstand that when people ask for silverware they probably don't mean just paper napkins. When you bring tables silverware you should probably bring more than one pair. When someone who has been a customer of yours for years you should not constantly ask them if it's their first time dining as it is considered very rude but with wait staff constantly coming and going who would know you're a regular. It would be nice if a good manager was around to speak to or better yet the owner like in good restaurants. I have not seen a single person in the upper chamber in so long it isn't even funny. I imagine they will chase all of their customers away eventually. read more

I went twice and Candy was my massage therapist both times. The only reason I went back is because I did feel a little better afterwards despite the painful pressure during the massage. She said it was good pain. Not so much I learned. The second time I went it was the same super hard pressure. The somewhat relaxing part was when she would switch to stones or rub some "Chinese medicine" my guess eucalyptus which felt good but then started back with the pressure which I'm guessing was her elbow. Flash forward two weeks or so and my arm/shoulder is still hurting from where she pressed. I was looking for something different to help with lower back pain (which they advertise as a specialty) but this is not it. I think that when my leg kept jerking up when she pressed that should have been a clear indication the pressure was too much. read more

Okay so I had an awful week and had been searching most of the week trying to find a place to get a massage. I havent had one in years! This place kept popping up. I must say if you truly need a DEEP tissue massage this is your place. Simple. Nothing spectacular but very clean and professional. Yes the walls are thin but I didn't care. The guy next to me kept moaning because his massage was so good, lol. I knew that my muscles were tight and I had knots EVERYWHERE! Candy (yes Candy) took her time to work them out. Ugh! This place is definitely not for me...here's why.. Booked 60 minutes..on the table for 48 minutes, paid $60. Completely exposed by lifting off the Drafty drape twice. First 30 minutes I was face down while she drilled into my back with her elbow and forearm over the sheet. Said Ouch! multiple times which she thought was hilarious. After begging for lighter pressure she finally pulled down the drape and started using her hands...WITH GLOVES ON! The gloves were too big and noisy..she kept stopping to pull up the gloves..omg..she then wasted time going to get hot stones that I never asked for that felt shockingly hot to my skin. No head massage, no feet..when I asked if she was going to massage my feet she laughed and said no time then ran out of the room. If this sounds relaxing to you then definitely give Chen's a try. I came here because the yelp Reviews were so good. I was kind of skeptical first walking in but I'm soooo glad I came here. My therapist was very good she even threw in some hot stones with no extra charge. And she was always checking in to make sure the pressure was OK. The walls are thin and I heard the music from the Caribbean restaurant next-door but I understand they can't really control that. Over all I will be definitely visit this place again read more

I just had the worst massage of my life today at this awful place. I have never said ouch, that hurts, or stop as much as I said it today. I said ouch so much the woman would chuckle every time I said it. This place is absolutely unprofessional. The woman giving me the massage kept leaving the room for towels, oil and for no reason at all and would then come back. On multiple occasions she bumped my face rest as she moved around and adjusted her SEAT. Never been to a sitting masseuse or a lazy one. They treat a massage like you would treat a manicure. I have been to massage envy on multiple occasions and never did the massage involve putting a hot towel on my back. The masseuse use her forearms and not her hands to massage which I continued to tell her did not feel good. She did not massage my hands or my feet or below my elbows. This was a very incomplete job must someone who had no idea what they were doing.The last straw was when she placed a hot towel on me I yelped and she didn't proceeded to lean on it which made it feel like I was getting burned. I sat up, hopped off the table and started getting dressed because I was done. She did not seem to understand anything I said well I was giving her instructions and she had the nerve to ask why no tip. At that point I listed for her everything she did wrong that I had already told her about it she backed off. I told her it was the worst massage ever had and I had never been massaged by someone who used one hand to barely rub my back and the other hand to text. I have no idea how this place received 10good reviews. When I made my appointment she asked me which location and I told her park Avenue. So maybe there is a location other than Park Avenue that actually serves the customer well. This Park Avenue location should be shut down. Oh, let's not forget that it was very cold in there and unlike massage envy they do not have warm sheets or warm blankets. I called every massage envy location within 10 miles of me before I tried this place and I wish I had just booked a good massage with massage envy on another day.
