Beautiful restaurant as far as decorations go and also very clean. The hostesses and the waitress were both very nice and did a great job. The buffet has tons of food choices, we filled our plates with more than we could eat because it all looked so good. It's pretty good food, we enjoyed it, it's not the best place for sushi but it's alright. We are glad we tried it. read more

Terrible food. Fried rice is brown. Not brown rice. Crab Rangoon is sweet like sugar.

For how cheap this place is the food is pretty damn delicious. I very much enjoy the atmosphere as well and the service is great!

This is a pretty good place to eat, the food quality is great, and the menu is HUGE! And not to mention the great decor around the place. Probably would come again. (Note, this review is slightly changed due to the fact that I was sick at the time of eating here, but I will update my review next time I'm here.) read more

We went there to take out food. We spent $50 and the food was horrible. They forgot the rice. The sweet-and-sour chicken was hard as a rock never go back there again. read more

It was okay food at best, but leaving I felt like they rearranged my guts but not in a fun way.

Typical Chinese Buffet; a wide variety of food choices - from hot foods to sushi. Fried & white rice, several soups, and all the usual entrees. Surprisingly; they even have a few non-traditional entrees like Fried Chicken Wings, Fried Catfish, and Fried Okra! These options make the buffet more accessible to kids and picky eaters. There is even ice cream w assorted toppings for dessert! Plenty of parking out front, and modest pricing. We enjoyed the buffet and will return in the near future! read more

I couldn't giv Chen's even a single star. Buffet food was all cold and over cooked, all beef was like chewing shoe leather. Chicken dishes were the same. No flavor! We tried 2 different plates and finally left. It was not edible. Will never go back!!! read more

I'm not too thrilled with the buffet because it's hit and miss with the freshness. But I ordered Lemon Chicken for pick up and it was AMAZING! The staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is clean and so is the bathroom. read more

The food was not very tasty not as good as it used to be was very good when I've been there before, but I was really disappointed this time

We have found the foods we like and enjoy on the Buffet. If you fill your plate too full, it will get cold before you eat it all. So take a small amount and go back for more. Love the mushrooms, rice noodles, coconut chicken, fried fish...on and on. Then there's the desserts along with the salads, don't miss the banana pudding! So yummy! and don't forget the hot tea, read more

They have an okay amount of of options. 2 bars of savory/warm food and 1 bar of cold/dessert stuff. There is a mix of American and Chinese dishes available. Pepsi products available (no Diet Mt Dew). I was very bummed to realize they didn't have their Mongolian grill active. I had seen it on their outside and was the main thing I was looking forward to. Also I would have liked to see more Asian sauces for spicing up my selections. There was soy sauce and sriracha at the table. Some chili oil, wasabi, sambal, and the like could have gone a long way in bringing more variety to the dishes selection. If you really need to scratch a Chinese food itch, this is one of the few options in town. Also an okay option for wanting something fast. In and out in 15-20 min if you don't dawdle. read more

My husband and I went in for dinner early 4:30pm on Tuesday. The buffet has always been a favorite of ours and normally very good. On this day everything we got tasted the same and NONE of it was good. The green beans had no flavor. Egg rolls were overcooked and cold as was the Crab Rangoon. The beef dishes were made with the toughest bits of meat I could not cut through. I do not know if they are under new management or ownership but it needs overhauling. I cannot imagine them staying in business long if things remain this way. This used to be a place to get GREAT Chinese food and was very popular but no longer. read more

I've never experienced food this bad. Ordered combo fried rice to go. In the 5 minutes I drove to the hotel about a half cup of oil or grease leaked out of the container and through the bag and onto my floor mat. Fried rice is supposed to be somewhat dry. Why was this swimming in oil? I did taste it to be sure, and it tasted like charcoal. I don't understand how simple fried rice could go this wrong. Now I have to go clean my floor mat and carpet and find a safe place to dispose of this toxic "food". read more

The food is not continuously warm. Do to lack consistency of temperature in the food it made people in the parties stomach ache before we even left the restaurant. The fruit was not fresh or juicy nor was the food hot. Would not recommend! Do not come here! read more

A few things have changed since my first review, which really wasn't even that long ago. Firstly, the Mongolian grill is apparently no more. I noticed back in December that the space behind the grill had several boxes, totes, and bags shoved in there, seemingly full of personal items, or things bought at a garage sale, Good Will, or salvaged from somewhere...I don't know but it struck me as really odd and extremely unsanitary to have all that junk so close to the kitchen. Eventually all that stuff got somewhat organized and there are curtains mostly obstructing the view, but now it sort of looks like someone may be living in the Mongolian grill booth area. Noticed two people sitting in there on what appeared to be a cot during my last visit. Even if I'm mistaken and there isn't someone living in there, that doesn't take away from the fact that it still appears that way, and looking like that still calls into question the cleanliness of that area next to the kitchen. The buffet itself has become a little more hit-or-miss over the past several months, with more misses than previously determined, More items sitting around to the point where they'd gotten cold, more empty bins, and more mislabeled items than before. This place really needs a kick in the can before their quality slips even more. Despite all that, it's still the best Chinese restaurant in Mountain Home, but on that note, I think I'm going to reserve my future Asian meals for trips out of town, or cooking it myself at home. Sorry, Chen, but you really need to clean up your act, raise your standards, and stop whatever it is you've got going in right in the middle of your restaurant. read more

We have been eating here for a few years now and I hate to say it, the quality of the food and service isn't what it used to be. They don't put the traditional battered chicken out for sweet and sour chicken, the put out American style chicken strips. The sweet and sour sauce tastes more like ketchup than sweet and sour sauce. We were there for 45 minutes yesterday, and they never put out any fresh cocktail shrimp or stuffed mushrooms, both remained empty. We couldn't tell you what our waitress looked like, she never checked on us. New items on the buffet, home made onion rings and potato skins were very good. Come on Chema, you can do better. read more

Chen's Garden just opened again after being closed initially for Covid 19 precautions. They are currently open only for take out. I heard they were going to be cooking dishes fresh to order and I was very happy with the crab Rangoon and chicken lo mein I ordered. Rangoon can come out greasy sometimes and the lo mein oily, but both came out perfect. The veg in my noodles were a perfect al dente, having just a bit of crunch. The place has never been anything to look at, so I hope they will clean up/spruce up the dining room before they open their Buffett back up again. I'm glad they're back! read more

Ok so if you're in north central Arkansas looking for high class Chinese food especially at a buffet you're already behind. But if you're in north central Arkansas, spent a day in the sun on the water, are hungry, want some flavor & don't want to spend a lot then ok here you go. Mongolian beef was for sure star & their different styles chicken are pretty good, everything else meehhhh. Food runs out but if you tell them they'll make more, desserts sub par, I mean for the price it's good & it'll fill you up with decent flavor & no sickness after so there's that. read more

I ordered Cashew chicken and got fried chicken nuggets with cashews sprinkled on top? I'm not sure if that's the way they normally make it but it was quite a surprise to me. Won't be going back. read more

The worst buffet I've ever been to. Food was not only horrible but cold. very little selection hostess met us in a crop top with vulgarity tattooed on her arm. Be a good place to open a buffet and find employee. Had to get the waitresses attention by addressing her 4 times as she walked past. 10/10 don't recommend, go to a gas station read more

Arrived at 11:05 a.m. ordered water & 2 buffett. The water tasted soapy, like glasses were washed but not rinsed. Food was disgusting! Chicken bites were tough & dry could not cut with knife, noodles cold. Tried the crab salad it was tough, stale kind of rubbery - just spit it out in napkin. The sweet/sour soup was watered down. Cashew sauce was watered down, cashew nuts stale. While we tried to eat a guy from kitchen came out and scooped his glass in the open ice cube bin - nasty. Dust & dirt hanging off pictures, the dining area was stacked with boxes of supplies - felt like we were eating in a storage room. Left hungry & felt dirty. read more

I have been here several times lately because it's the only Chinese buffet in town. The service is quick. To a fault. But the food is about 1/2 okay and 1/2 not very good. The sushi rolls are always bad. read more

I probably wouldn't come back if I were traveling through, but I'd occasion it if I were a local. Most of the food is expected buffet quality, with some dishes slightly better and some worse. Service is minimal (drinks + check only), also as expected of a buffet. The environment is largely quiet, as 80% or more of the clientele are older folks. For an Asian-buffet, they have greater variety than I have seen at many similar restaurants. read more

Food has no flavor only thing thats actually good is ice cream service takes forever to bring drinks

I believe one star says it all. Just bloody awful. Bears no resemblance to Chinese cuisine

Went around 8 o'clock on a Tuesday. Server greeted us immediately. I was disappointed that the Mongolian Grill thing wasn't open. The only reason I went was because the sign said something about a Mongolian Grill being open. The place was clean and there weren't many people. The food was alright. read more

Terrible! Avoid at all cost. This restaurant is going down the tubes by the day. The ice cream machine has been on the fritz for a couple of years now. It makes ice cream, but it's crystalized mush. Yuck, yuck, yuck! read more

Food was tasteless hostess was rude. I asked for a Togo container for my buffet Togo order because I didn't want to put my cold fruit in the same container as my hot food and was told it would cost me an additional buffet charge. My husband ate there and I choose to do mine Togo and they tried to charge us 3 meals when I tried to explain that mine was Togo and only one of us ate there they got rude about it read more

We are new to Mountain Home and tried the buffet for lunch. Without a doubt the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. You never know what to expect when you come to this place anymore. And it's more miss than hit anymore. Dirty environment, old food on the buffet and not the best service. Sorry guys but we're humans...not cattle. read more

Best Asian food around. Always stocked buffet unless they are going to close or between lunch and dinner. Staff seems clean and courteous.

Terrible , food was cold and old. There was a large selection but even the fresh food (we watched and waited for the fresh stuff to come out ) had little flavor and was still cold. The servers and what I assume were the owners or cooks looked angry . We stopped in 3 times so this isnt a one and done. Not good, Not good at all. read more

Been coming here regularly since it opened. It's usually pretty good, but the last two times I went, including this evening, it left much to be desired. At 7 PM this evening, the buffet was in sad shape. Most trays were almost empty. What remained in them was old, stale, and pitiful looking. The tiny little pile of garlic green beans, the ones that look so vibrant and taste so delicious at noon, were wrinkled, brown, and limp. The chicken chunks for cashew chicken were hard and dried out. There were only 4 or 5 boiled shrimp left in the tray. The California rolls were all dried out. Even the rice had dried out. If I were the owner, I'd be embarassed to keep the door open and continue serving the public once it reaches this stage. Blah ! read more

My husband and I are Chinese food snobs. When we moved back to the area in 2006, we were sadly disappointed with the local choices for Chinese. Then came Chen's Garden last summer (2008). What a welcome new restaurant! The buffet has lots of variety and everything is always fresh and delicious! They also have a Mongolian grill where you pile up your own fresh, raw ingredients and they are steam grilled to perfection. It's included with the buffet. The decor is beautiful and tasteful. Booths and tables are available. Kids 3 and under eat free with a paying adult. In addition to the buffet, they have a menu for dine-in or take-out. read more
