I've been wanting to try Chen's for a while and the food and portion size was very good. Everything tasted great and they give you a crab wonton and spring roll with the lunch combo which was a fun surprise. i usually don't leave bad reviews, but this experience was honestly terrible. The food was some of the worst I've had from a Chinese restaurant. Everything tasted old, bland, and like cardboard, like it had been sitting out for hours. The chicken was rubbery, the cream cheese puffs tasted sour and like the oil was bad. I ended up throwing most of it away because it was just not edible. On top of that, the customer service was extremely rude. When I politely asked for a refund or credit i immediately got asked "what do you want me to do about it" and then said they don't do refunds but will give me a credit but only for ONE item, the staff acted annoyed and dismissed me instead of fixing it. No apology, no offer to make it right--just attitude. Overall, bad food and even worse service. Definitely won't be coming back. read more

Started with the hot and sour soup. It has the perfect consistency and a nice heat to it. The Szechuan chicken was very fresh with amazing vegetables, and a great heat in the sauce. It came with a very large container of steamed white rice which paired nicely. The pork egg foo young was great. The pork was tender and tasty, the vegetables, very fresh, the sauce delicious, The egg foo young patty was much more like an omelette, and didn't have a lot of taste, but absorb the test of the rest of the dish. The fried rice was again very fresh, had delicious beef sprouts in it. One thing that was slightly off was the hot tea. It was good, but it was Lipton, I was kind of expecting a green or jasmine tea. I've eaten at Chen's many times and always had good experiences until the last couple of times. I thought maybe they had an off night the last time I ate there, and unfortunately it wasn't isolated. Tonight I ordered takeout. They told me 12-22 minutes and I picked it up right at 12. Got it home and the food was number one, COLD, (I live 4 minutes from the restaurant so it wasn't drive time) and I'm talking ice cold. It had to have been pre made and sat around. We ordered egg rolls and they sent about a tablespoon of sweet and sour sauce for 2 large egg rolls. I had General Tsao's chicken and my order came with some sweet sauce that is nowhere NEAR the right sauce and literally not an ounce of heat or spice. Anyway, I won't be going back. It has over cooked weird chewy shrimp in it. I did not like it. Kung Pao chicken was a generous portion lots of veg and peanuts but had a weird nutmeg taste to it and not a ton of flavor. I cannot believe how many negative reviews there are of this place. We have tried all the Chinese food joints in this area that will deliver and this is the only one we order from consistently. The orange chicken is so dang good. I love the family meal for 2 because it comes with two entrees, two soups, rice of choice, 2 egg rolls, and 2 fried shrimps. Only thing we don't care for are the fried shrimp, they just take like oil so we always throw them away. Not a fan of the lo mein but I do like the fried rice. I took my mom here because I liked the food here but when we went they said we couldn't eat inside because they didn't have utensils which sounded crazy because they did have plastic ones so just sounded ridiculous that we couldn't eat inside. We still ordered to go because we drove all this way. When I asked for sriracha, he said that was the last bottle. It also didn't come with the chips and the sauce it normally does. There was ample quantity, but If it was suppose to be Oriental cooking, perhaps they forgot to add the necessary seasonings. We realize it was take-out and our expections should not have been set so high, but at the cost of the meal we were hoping for better. The service at Chens has unfortunately declined significantly recently, I have never had an issue with them before but tonight I ordered pot stickers and they were cold and soggy. I had waited 20 minutes without complaint and then when I opened the potstickers I called and asked for them to remake it they agreed but then a few minutes later they called me back and said they would not remake my food because they were too busy when I asked for a refund they refused. I was already on my way back to pick up the new potstickers so I returned to the restaurant to talk to whom they referred to as the boss but he refused to speak to me because they were too busy. I told them that he needed to speak with me or I would dispute the charges. The young man in the glassed started to yell at me. I had not raised my voice or been disrespectful at any point towards the staff because I also work in customer service and I understand that the job can be stressful. There is absolutely no reason for that kind of behavior especially since I was just asking for them to correct their mistake. I then told them that I would wait until they were not busy to speak with their manager because I had also witnessed the employee being rude to another customer who just asked them when her order would be ready after she had already waited 20 minutes after her order was supposed to be ready. I waited another 30 minutes before speaking with their manager who eventually agreed to refund me but this whole experience ruined my night I will not be returning in the future and would not suggest this restaurant to anyone else especially since Bobo China is across the street and the food as I have learned tonight is much better and cheaper. read more

My only grip is that I ordered Szechuan chicken , there was more peanuts and vegetables in that dish then there was chicken, and I mean, there was very very little chicken, the chicken that was there was small scraps of chicken. Out of the whole dish, I got maybe 4-5 small bits of chicken. And the crab rangoons, have 0 crab in them, it's literally vegetable dip that they put in there, don't believe me go try one and then go take a bite of vegetable dip. It's the same filling. Tried Chen's again a year ago and as before, Kung Pow was terrible. Kung pow is not supposed to be sweet. Again yesterday it's still sweet thought maybe it had changed. Not very spicy either. I had gotten take out from Chen's, my first time. It was awful. The chicken lo mein was flavorless and the pork egg fu yung was inedible. I have never seen egg fu yung smothered with vegetables that were very mushy. The patty itself fell apart and I couldn't distinguish what it was made of. The chicken for sweet and sour was so chewy, it tasted like it was days old. The crab puffs, like everything else, were tasteless. Again, the food was really terrible and expensive. My previous review for Chen's disappeared so I have to redo it. This place is amazing! The egg fried rice is to die for, and the Kung Pao chicken has plenty of tender white meat with just enough kick to keep it spicy without taking away from the flavor of the dish. First time trying this place, found good reviews on Postmates, however, when we got the food and opened it, it smelled funny we thought we'd still try it because we bought it. The beef and broccoli tasted old, like the beef was refrigerated and then cooked days after. The house chow mien was tasteless and foul smelling. The fried rice was no better, the orange chicken was thee only item we ate with the white rice and probably what this place is known for but for the rest of the items, not worth it.
