I had the curry shrimp, and an egg roll. The egg roll was not that great, to be honest. The shrimp dish was good, but just run of the mill Chinese, nothing special, maybe just a step above what you would pick up at Panda Express. I much prefer Lucky Bamboo and Peony Bistro, but this was near by and I got it from Grubhub. I will say that the food was plentiful and it hit the spot. read more

They have above average Asian food at a low price. At Lunch, you also get a soup option at no cost. You can sub an egg roll for $1. The food is great for an order at a counter place. Cheng's wasn't bad the food was plentiful and reasonably hot. I made a plate of the grill diy just when the gentleman cooked it he added way too much of the sauce and it made everything way salty actually all the food was salty. My grandson had to go to the bathroom and needed assistancr they weren't too bad but they had the swining top can which are discusting, trash just accumulates unless you push your hands onto the top with all the other trash.....gross. read more

So when I fist moved out to the area,this was really not that special but .. recently in the last 6 months have ordered and it has been really good. It is traditional Chinese American - their egg fu young is really good and that is a big test for people who understand the influence from the Chinese immigrants who built our railroads. Their pork dishes are excellent and recently they included a free sweet addition of fried sweet bread.. I appreciate that these people are producing well made American Chinese. read more

I've been coming here ever since I was a teenager living in Newark. I've always been a fan of their food and still stop in from time to time when in town for some food to go! It's in a convenient location in Newark on Deo Drive and is in a strip mall. The hot and sour soup is really good, as well as the General Tso's chicken. I dream about Cheng's sweet and sour sauce. I've lived in DC, Chicago, and LA, and have not found sweet and sour sauce to rival Cheng's. Try to order something that gives you the excuse to use it - sometimes I would just put it on my rice. Everything here is good - esp. the tofu dishes. It's quality fast-ish food. The eat-in section is your standard Chinese takeout fare - sticky tables and salt shakers, uncomfortable chairs. But it's worth it! read more

The service here sucks! Ordered over the phone, they said it would be 25 minutes. SHowed up about 20 minutes. The line was about 5 deep. I waited at least 30 minutes, they make you wait in line even if you ordered online. There was only one girl taking the orders up and back and taking payments, and taking the phone orders. There was one girl that was there at the counter when I got there, she said she'd been waiting for over hour. WHen I left the line was at least 12 people. Have fun waiting 2 hours for your food. The food was mediocre. Would of given 3 stars for the food, but because of the service they are getting 1. I would give 0 if I could. This place sucks. I was initially excited about there being a Chinese take out being within 2 minutes of my house. I was extremely disappointed with the food. We got General Tso's chicken, which had a great flavor but the chicken was rubbery. Beef and broccoli, which was just ok. I was most disappointed in how bad the wonton soup is. That is my go to item anytime I am sick and my husband always searches it out for me to bring home if I'm under the weather. The service was great. The man behind the counter is very friendly and responsive, I just wish the food was better. Unfortunately I will be looking for another place to try. read more

I ordered shrimp mei fun it was super super super salty. I also ordered shrimp with lobster sauce. This is a seafood dish. Who puts pork and a seafood dish. I don't eat pork or any red meat or chicken. That's why ordered the shrimp dish. I am a long time customer of this restaurant. I ordered a meal "Happy Family" at $13.99. I was shocked to see the crab meat and the lobster meat are the imitation crab and lobster meat sticks made with fish!. It still states on the menu crab and lobster as part of this dish. No mentions of imitation. The price remains the same. Very dissatisfied. read more

This used to be our go-to take out Chinese place in town until Lucky Bamboo opened and we started going there. Haven't been here in several years but needed a quick meal and this was closer than Lucky Bamboo, so we got chicken fried rice, general tso's and veggie lo mein to go. I can not describe how awful this food was. I don't know what's changed in the last couple of years, but this is not the same restaurant. The fried rice was bright yellow (yes, bright yellow, like Big Bird) and had only diced onion and the nastiest pieces of rubbery, fatty chicken I've ever seen. It looked like all of it had been steamed, there was no evidence it had been fried in a wok whatsoever. Even my 11 year old nephew commented that it "didn't look right." The general tso's chicken was chewy and the sauce was disgustingly, overly sweet. The only edible portion of this meal was the lo mein and the fortune cookie. Wow. I don't know what happened here because their food used to be tasty. 2/3 of our meal was tossed down the garbage disposal. read more
