Ribeye, asked to be cooked medium, was over done...twice!
Greg M.

Very disappointed on several fronts. Came in on a Saturday night at 6:15. Was a bit surprised that this was the only nice steak house I could get a reservation for the day of, and had my choice of times. In spite of the Yelp ratings, that should have been a huge red flag. Ordered the Old Fashioned from the menu that was very good. Tried to find a bottle of Cabernet for under $150. There were none and only one cab by the glass at $30, so we opted for that (that same bottle sold for $165...math doesn't add up). The menu does not have a lot of variety. No garden salad, so I started with the gumbo. It was good, but would have been better with some bread. We each ordered the ribeye medium with a side of mushrooms and a twice baked potato. The sides were excellent, but the steak was over cooked. To make matters worse, our server was not paying attention so I had to ask another to have our server or a manager come over. The manager came by and promptly took both steaks away to have them remade and comped us another glass of wine. Nice gesture. However, the second steaks were no better than the first. I asked the manager if he really considered what we were looking at to be medium. He assured me it was and held the table light by the steak so I could see it better. You can see by the picture of the second steaks that it was not cooked right either. When the check came, they comped one of the steaks, but not both. Not sure what their logic was, as neither of us ate much of either. Told the server the same and Mr. Manager came back over with both comped. Apparently they were trying to get every red cent out of the few people in the joint!

My group and I came to chemin à la mer on a Monday at around 8:30 and got sat right away. The restaurant was practically empty, except for a couple of businessmen who looked like they planned a dinner and meeting combo, lol. But that on top of the emptiness makes sense with the location, hotel, day and time. Pam took care of us and was a joy as our server. She knew the menu very well and was able to answer all our questions on top of being helpful and productive throughout our visit. We had the skirt steak and king Salmon with a side of fries and stuffed potatoes. The skirt steak was cooked to medium and it was amazingg! Pam asked how I'd like it cooked and suggested it to be cooked at medium rare. I couldn't do that since I'm barely starting to get used to my steaks being cooked at medium, but it was still absolutely delicious. The sauce that was glazed on top, as well as the seasoning of the steak killed it!! The salmon was also delicious. Very flavorful. The stuffed potatoes were ok, we liked their side of fries more than that. Drinks were tasty and refreshing. Worth the price. We also got dessert, a chocolate cake and apple pie. I wasn't expecting to like the apple pie, but wow was that good! And the chocolate cake isn't just any boring cake. Once you break the cake, a chocolaty liquid melts out onto your plate, it was perfection. The restaurant itself is beautiful. They're located on the 14th (if I'm not mistaken) floor and have the best location for beautiful views of downtown New Orleans and the waterfront. I'm still thinking about that special sauce on the skirt steak (heart eyes). Thank u for a wonderful dinner!

We came after a visit to the spa for lunch. I was craving something light but the only salad on the menu was a chicken salad. I asked to replace the chicken with shrimp and our server happily accommodated my request. My friend ordered the steak frites. She was happy with her order. My salad however was lacking in flavor. I'm a fan of lots of toppings but this salad was mostly bare aside from the shrimp. Just a lesson learned not to come here for a basic salad that cost $30. Next time I'll just get a steak too! The service was decent but a little slow considering we were the only patrons at the time. I mostly enjoyed my visit here but some things were left to be desired.

We had a lovely Christmas Day meal overlooking this MS River from our table! The placed was packed, but all staff handled it with the utmost professionalism. Our waitress was attentive and recommended one of the specials, the lamb, which we thoroughly enjoyed! The oysters were icy cold and the cocktail plus mignonette sauces paired perfectly! Do not skip ordering Donald's seafood gumbo - outstanding! We are glad to have selected this spot for our holiday meal & will return in the future for a special occasion.

We have been here twice now. We love eating on the balcony with the river view! Service is outstanding, food is spectaular and for this level of dining its very reasonable. It's a great addition to the Nola dining scene. And do take the time to have a cocktail in the lobby bar. It is beautiful!

I visited here for the first time this evening. I parked in a nearby parking lot for a quite expensive cost but that was expected given the area. I enjoyed the ambiance and the view of the water. The staff were polite and provided great service. I ordered the seafood gumbo and the chocolate mousse dessert. I enjoyed them both. I had a really great experience here and I would return.

The ambiance was nice and quiet, so you can have a conversation. All the appetizers were extremely tasty and well done. The shrimp entree was unfortunately too salty. The desserts looked fantastic but were way too sweet for my taste.

The pathway to the sea meaning the river? I don't know but let's not get caught up on the meaning of the name. Let's talk about the meat and potatoes of the experience. Let's start with the service - our server Jacob was fantastic. He recommended some great items and probably one of the best servers we had during our 5 day NOLA experience. 6 out of 5 stars for Jacob! The ambiance of the place 5/5. Beautiful view. Super cozy table with pillows. Now as for the food 3.5/5. We ordered the gumbo, the baked feta, and the fish of the day which was a sword fish with some sea food. The fish was very good. The baked feta was good and the gumbo was good but for the price and portion size I expected great all around. My wife and I also ordered an Arnold Palmer for each of us. Had a craving I guess. $8 is a bit step for an Arnold Palmer but didn't realize when they brought us a refill it was another $8 each. $32 is excessive for iced tea and lemonade. I really did enjoy the experience but not sure I will be a repeat customer.

Overall solid experience. You know what you're getting at the Four Seasons: world class service and food. Ask for a table near the windows - the restaurant is on the 5th floor and looks out over the Mississippi river. We saw multiple cargo ships and river cruises float by - pretty cool stuff. Our sommelier was from the Toronto Four Seasons - she had been flown in to help with Mardi Gras demand - and was excellent (go Canada). Being in NOLA, went seafood heavy, and were not disappointed. Highlights include the shrimp, the black drum, and the mashed potatoes. For some reason we ran the gamut on the deserts. The crème brûlée was stand out. Definitely recommend if you want an upscale dinner in New Orleans to impress.

My mom and I went here for lunch post aquarium. We sat with a lovely view of the river. It's a beautiful space and service was great. I started with oysters, which were delic. I got the fried chicken sandwich, and though the bun wasn't up to the task, it was still delicious. My mom got the moules frites I believe. We then got a cheese plate and a dessert, which is escaping me now. We met our new favorite cheese here haha, Brillat-Savarin. So good!! This was a lovely lunch and definitely recommend.

Everything about this place is amazing. Went for a birthday dinner on a Tuesday night. Had reservations which was good because the place was packed. We had booked to sit on the balcony which was beautiful. You have views of the river and we got a nice breeze. The food was phenomenal. Our server was so kind and very attentive. Overall such a good experience. Highly recommend for a special occasion!!!

My wife ordered a steak Frites well well done and half of her portion slices were medium rare. We started with deviled eggs those were tasty I can recommend that and the shrimp cocktail was good enough. The crab salad was bland it needed something else to liven up the flavor a spoon luck of mayo maybe some pepper or salt. Pepper and salt and all the condiments are on the table which I've never a fan of it. The fine dining restaurants think it means they fancy but this food wasn't fancy the place was nice. The Service needs to be retrained. We ate here because we were seeing the old-fashioned Magic show at Eliza Jane next-door and if you wanna come in for some apps or maybe try or the other entrées I didn't find anything. I really wanted to try because I'm not a big fan of French food I guess I should've tried the duck. There may be some good food here, but I won't be back till to find out we were both underwhelmed. Hopefully they fix the problems if somebody else gives a better review, but I cannot. We both agree the french fries were good. Ambience is pretty good with their remodeling so the bathroom was like a 5 to 10 minute wait it's only one person at a time and women kept using the men's room because it's only. So I had to wait two times for women to come out. Single serve bathrooms definitely are not adequate, but they're doing the best they can during remodeling.

The buzz in and away from New Orleans is Emerils!…read more I have a short list of all the beautiful restaurants I have loved in my life. Although K Paul's was on my bucket list for a decade before my first trip to NO it was Emerils restaurant Nola that stole my heart. Every year for more then a decade I would dine at Nola, sometimes with a group of friends but often at the small counter as I lovingly gazed into the kitchen. The late Kimo's in Maui and Mozza in Los Angeles round out my top 3 favorites. I've also dined at Emeril's (the flagship) years ago, walking away scratching my head thinking that should have been better then Nola, it wasn't, and I thought Emeril need to fix this... he did **. 34 came and gone before I could get there, but a few week's ago stumbled on to Emerils kitchen. I had heard it wasn't very good and was a casino, shopping mall prototype, cool I'm all in as I opened 40 CPKs in casinos and shopping malls and they were all great. Casual but professional service from start to finish. Subtleties and surprise made for a delightful lunch. I was craving a roast beef with debris poboy for weeks and and to have it served dressed made my day, not surprising the fries served along side were excellent but not house cut. I'm OK with that, I've had house cut fries in great restaurants that were terrible, brave move and it worked. I had no intion to skip the French onion soup and found it unique and sublime. The charred onion was perfect, the fresh thyme, and garlic perfectly balanced the broth drapped in thick and gooey amazing cheese that was gripped that molton crock that perfectly capping the best soup I have had in decades. She was a bit chatty but still nice. The menu wasn't extensive at all. The waitress did a good job at selling many of the menu options. I initially had the chicken with carrots and brussel sprouts. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and flavored well. The chicken however was very dry. When the waitress asked how it was, I told her how dry it was and she immediately bright me something else, which was the fish and chips. The fish was hot, crispy, and cooked to perfection. It was tender, however it lacked flavor and seasoning. I asked for hot sauce but never received it. I finally decided to ask for a to go box to take the remaining piece home. The chips "fries" were great. They were freshly cut real potato fries. They were hot and seasoned well. My significant other had the shrimp and grits which he thoroughly enjoyed. As an appetizer we had the salad. Seemed simple and basic enough but was actually very good. I'm unsure of the dressing it was tossed in but it was just enough and well flavored. We skipped on dessert. We considered the cookie plate but since nobody could tell us what kind of cookies they were, so we decided to pass. The best part about our dining experience was the ambiance. The music was nice and the decor was vibrant and swanky . I also had a mocktail flavored with pineapple, jalapeno, lime, mint, and cilantro. It was refreshing. One thing viable at first was the collection of historical military portraits and photographs displayed on the wall! Their add such an interesting character! One of those restaurant that offers more than food. Now let's talk about FOOD!!! Luke offers a lovely combination of French, German, and Louisiana Creole cuisine. The menu includes everything from traditional shrimp and grits and Gulf seafood to European classics like crispy pork schnitzel with spaetzle. If you're a seafood lover, the raw bar is another highlight, especially the fresh Gulf oysters!!! We ordered Shrimp cocktail? the Pork schnitzel and shrimp and grits. Another great reason to visit is their daily happy hour, traditionally offered from 3 PM to 6 PM, with oyster specials and discounted drinks. Definitely worth checking the current promotions before visiting!!! New Orleans has a fascinating French and German cultural heritage, and Luke brings those influences together beautifully through its brasserie concept. The portions are on the smaller side considering the price, so I'd keep that in mind when ordering. That said, the crispy Brussels sprouts absolutely live up to the reputation -- definitely one of the highlights! Service was another strong point. Everyone was attentive and friendly, and they checked in periodically without being overbearing. Everything felt pretty well managed throughout the meal The ambiance is more of a classic, casual diner-style setup, with dim lighting and paper-covered tables. Seating was comfortable overall, although the space felt a little tight in some areas Overall, if you don't mind paying a bit more for smaller portions, I'd still say this is a spot worth checking out while you're in New Orleans. So many things that I've heard about La Petite Grocery have been so good that I have had this local…read morerestaurant on my list to visit for over two decades now so today was the day. It was described to me as classic and romantic and I would definitely agree with that. It's such a beautifuly quaint restaurant in an awesome setting on one of the most amazing streets in New Orleans. You definitely want to make reservations to make sure you get your table. Once you walk in the door, you're greeted by a friendly and very attentive staff and being my first time, my server helped me navigate the menu with ease. I would categorize the food as a refined classic New Orleans menu with plenty of amazing flavors. You definitely want to order the blue crab beignets with a housemade remoulade and for the main course, my I suggest the shrimp and grits, which was amazing. Whether you find yourself strolling down Magazine Street or make a special trip just to eat at LPG, it will be well worth your time investment.
