These tacos were some of the best I've ever had. I wasn't expecting to find fire tacos in Indiana to be honest. I was pleasantly surprised. Service was quick and friendly. This place would make a good date night also.

Wow!! I was thoroughly blown away by how tasty this restaurant was!! So we ordered the birria taco plate, the birria dinner plate, and one goat birria taco! Fire I mean by far one of, if not the best birria I've ever had! That's saying a lot being that I'm from Los Angeles. The service was good and it's a cute ambiance! Definitely will be coming by!

It's been a while since I've had this place. We sat down and dined in this time, and they have really expanded the menu (forgot to take a picture) lol, and the food, drinks and service are just as good as before, maybe even better now. I'm glad to see they now take credit cards as well as cash. Would recommend! _______________________________________ Finally, I tried this place. Really, good food and service were friendly and welcoming. Really enjoyed the birria ramen!! It's a bit pricey, but the quality of food is worth it. Cash Only and a great small, local businesses to support. Would recommend.

I don't typically venture out beyond what I know when going to the Horseshoe Casino but this time I did. So here's my review of Chela's with some pics for your viewing pleasure. First off I was impressed with the cleanliness and decor inside the restaurant... even the bathrooms were nice and clean!!! Keep in mind I did visit shortly after they opened so things could be different later in the day. As for the food... I kept it simple and order 3 QuesoBirra Tacos and I'm honestly glad I didn't order any sides as these tacos were definitely loaded with meat and were definitely filling. The tacos were delicious and the consommé definitely added a depth of flavor as well. On each taco I tried 3 different salsa, 2 that are served in plastic bottles and one that was served with the complimentary chips & salsa. All 3 were very tasty!!! The service was spot on and they truly make you feel welcome when you walk in. Again... this was shortly after opening so please keep that in mind. If I had any negative comments or should I say constructive criticism it would be this... I wish they made their chips in house. Nothing beats a freshly made tortilla chip and any restaurant willing to go through the work of making a good Birra should also be willing to make a house made chip. The salsa served with the chips was very tasty but in a container that was too small to be able to scoop some on a chip... so maybe serve that salsa in a small bowl/container? I also wish the Quesobirra Tacos were more cheesy but that's a personal preference. I will definitely be coming here again when I find myself at another WSOPC Event at the Shoe.

Small restaurant with great food. We tried a little bit of everything. The birria ramen was great as well as the tacos, burritos, quesadilla, and chilaquiles. Great prices and a great place to hangout with friends. They could use more help but the wait wasn't terrible for how good the food was.

So honestly, I was very excited to try this place! However, I am very disappointed in the food and the service!! I will not be returning. My server only checked on me once due to the language barrier she never came back. She ended up having another server check to see if I'm doing OK which only happen one time in that server does speak English. My plate was the Super Chela plate which was $16. Not worth $16 they asked me if I wanted everything on my food, including onions and cilantro, however there is very little onions and cilantro, which makes the flavor of the dish, no flavor barely any cheese on the quesadilla and the mulita. They only have one type of margarita. I guess the special of the day was mango. That was my only option, so, of course I got that I could not taste any alcohol in the margarita at all, so I feel like this is a virgin margarita. I'm just disappointed with everything! The atmosphere makes you feel unwanted specially when there are individuals that speak English and nobody will come and ask you if you need anything else. Can we assist you with anything nothing terrible service here. I will be taking my services somewhere else.

Amazing Mexican, absolute gem of an establishment! Do not pass on this place. Cash only, ATM on-site. Working in Chicago for the weekend and had never been to Indiana before, so I decide to take the quick drive and find something good for lunch. On my way to the spot I had originally picked, I passed this little hole in the wall and knew I had to stop. Mexican is easily my favorite food, and my favorite places tend to look a lot like this one. I was not disappointed! The Birria is legitimately some of the best Mexican I've had. A ton of flavor with simple ingredients. It does have a bit of a kick. Nothing too bad, but if you're sensitive to heat, I'd maybe get the chicken. I was brought tostada chips and four different salsa's. (Pictured) The light green is a very thin guacamole, the dark green is a basic verde, the red was described as "hotter salsa," but my favorite was the molcajete in the yellow. Honestly, they were all super tasty and you wouldn't go wrong with any of them. I'd recommend eating the bottom taco first. Because the shells are made in-house, they get soggier more quickly than say Taco Bell. A roll paper towels is provided at each table, which is a good thing. The tacos are loaded and you may find yourself licking your fingers.

Excellent Quesabirria tacos. The best I've had in the Chicago area. Nice interior to the restaurant and fairly quick service.

It's going to be just like Mexican Inn from 95th and Ewing in Chicago, I was told. They were going to bring it back. According to the story, Dive Taco was somehow related to the Mexican Inn restaurant owners and had their authentic recipes that were such a success back in the day. The last time I can recall eating at Mexican Inn was 1982, some 37 years before Dive Taco came on the scene. I been around a while, you can't fool me. I know what know what a Mexican Inn taco and their other specialties tasted and looked like. They were to die for! Tacos were only four (4) for a dollar back then and their Mexican plates with enchiladas and tamales, beans and rice was like 2 to $3 tops. Of course I know we can't match those prices today. Mexican Inn was the first place I ever had Mexican food and I ate their regularly since the middle 1960's. The food was fresh, authentic and tasted so so delicious. Mexican Inn was so special and unique and the very best in town. Mexican restaurants were rare back then and not a dime a dozen like they are today. I can remember the short little Mexican lady cooking as the steam ascended towards the ceiling. God rest her soul, she's probably passed away long ago. If you're going to bone pick on a restaurants past fame and glory rather than being a prime example of yourself, you best do it right. Dive Tacos corn taco shells look are like conch (seashells), heavy and flavorless. Mexican Inn was light, crispy like a potato chip almost, two shells together as I recall. Generous covering of grated Mexican cheese on top with tomato slices and shredded lettuce. The meat was flavored correctly seasoned with cumin and was super fresh. Oh do I miss Mexican Inn. Dive Taco is awful and expensive for what it is. I wouldn't eat their ever again. I did not like my tacos. You might want to consider reinventing yourself or finding a new cook. By the way, look like a restaurant and not like a gift store selling a bunch of marine junk and cluttering up your windows. Happy customers dining is your best advertisement. Good Luck!
