Stuck out on Glenwood-Lansing…read moreRoad in Lynwood, this place is somewhat hard to find unless you drive these streets all the time ... but when you are out in this area this stand is a must stop ... and if you are from a different southside suburb and in the hunt for a Farmer's Market, this one is worth the drive. Now this Market doesn't have the largest selection you could find, but the quality and prices are probably the best around. Besides all the fresh fruit and vegetables, they have jars of jellies and fresh herbs. Most of the items are locally sourced with some brought in from nearby states. One of the nice things they had was pre-sliced watermelon ... so one doesn't have to buy a whole watermelon and can just get a small quarter or half for a smaller family. Their corn was excellent, and it is in perfect season right now. All-in-all this place was a winner. The people running the place are very nice and keep everything moving. Give this local operation a try. Recommended.

He enabled thousands, perhaps millions to eat produce otherwise not affordable in small neighborhood stores or the mega chains. Likes countless others, my husband and I traveled from Chicago to purchase gas and visit Mark's. We never knew what we would purchase, because you didn't always know what would be available. We did know that bananas would be 4#s for $1.00, apples would be .69 cents a pound, and green peppers would be 4/1.00 or 10/1.oo. We always knew we would be warmly greeted by Mark, Jessica, Debbie, and other members of his team. It was a common occurrence to hear, "Mark, what is this? How do I cook this? Can I cook this in soup?" He was always so generous in his immense knowledge of produce. He made it a point of bringing in new produce. He always put extras in your order at checkout. He always made deals when he knew how much you loved something. Many times he sent home extras I passed on to family, friends, and neighbors. Don't think people did not tell him on hundreds of occasions how much he was appreciated, but sometimes it seemed he couldn't enjoy the love because he was so immersed in keeping his store stocked and running smoothly. He was such a blessing to me, my husband, aunt, and others. Mark....now you can rest on your laurels and enjoy the love and appreciation we all had for you. Now you can replay the compliments, fleeting conversations, and testimonies shared while you were tending to your customers and staff. Thank you Mark. You are missed and loved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My daughter just graduated college, and we had the party planned for last Saturday. Long story short......my phone died while at the Cubs game on Friday. Woke up downtown on Saturday to a message that the place I had planned to cater from couldn't do it (nice....but that's for another review). I called Pete's. Becky in Customer Service couldn't have been more accommodating. This place is incredible - I really wish we had a Pete's in So Cal! Picked up all the food (even had fresh baked rolls right out of the oven). I had a lot of family asking where I catered from. I told them the story (and found out the place I was originally going to cater from has gone DOWNHILL in quality - so everything happens for a reason). All I can say is the food was INCREDIBLE. Mostaccioli with marinara sauce, sausage and peppers, Italian sliced beef, broasted chicken - amazing! I'm fairly certain Pete's has won my family's catering needs. At least I hope so!! Shout out again to Becky from Pete's in Customer Service who went out of her way to make this an incredible party!

And it was fine! Better than fine because the blueberries were so good! I had no complaints. But now they've leveled up. Now it's not just good blueberries but good ambiance as well! They've converted another smaller building next to it as a storefront and it's chock full of blueberry based goodies like jams, jellies, baked goods, dips, mustards, beverages, etc. Way more to choose from! They also sell ice cream and added a play structure to help entertain the kiddos that get a little bored of picking (smart). The day of our visit it was around 100 degrees and humid so I was not up for picking myself. Instead I arrived ready to buy a box of pre-picked fruit in bulk like I had in the past. I walked into the cute new storefront, scanned the shelves, and panicked. There were no boxed berries to be seen! Was this no longer a thing?? U-pick only?? Why God why!? No need to panic, the really lovely woman at the counter explained to me. They just ran out because nobody wanted to pick in the heat (fair) and they had another load of blewbs (just processed and boxed) enroute and arriving at any moment, she just wasn't sure when exactly. Our time in town was limited so we decided we'd come back instead of waiting. She assured me there would be plenty available. And she was right! A couple of hours later we came back to find the coolers absolutely stocked full of 5lb boxes. I was fielding requests from the family back home to bring them some so in the end I bought 20 pounds worth. I also added a blueberry lemon coffee cake for good measure. Great visit! Wonderful changes! Lovely personnelle! And most importantly, the blueberries are still amazing. Next time I just hope it's cooler so I can get an ice cream cone that wasn't going to liquify the moment I stepped outside.

The farm stand is in a pair of buildings at this time and they have enough room to expand when more vegetables are harvested. We were not here earlier in the year when the greenhouse does business. There is also a U-Pick section, but we did not try that. We thought it funny when we came to the unshucked corn that there were a few signs warning us to not peel back the husk to look at the corn. We followed the rules and trusted in the product, and we were pleasantly surprised. When we cooked it up later, the corn was perfect and tasty. So even though we did not have the fun of peeling the husks, the corn was VG. We will be back.
