While I love the LP green city farmers market, it's incredibly crowded and if you have a car, good luck finding parking. This west loop location is smaller. There are fewer venders here than the other location, but there are far less people and finding parking isn't difficult at all. The park is also beautifully shaded and hilly. Clusters of tents are spread out a bit. You could miss a few if you don't walk around. As much as I love all of the bakery representation at the LP location, I will frequent the green city market in the west loop instead. It's so much less of a headache

The market only has a few vendors, but they are really great. I love going to look at the flowers and usually grab a pastry and coffee to take home. There are several produce and meat/egg stands, but I find everything to be a little too pricey for me to justify buying much. However, they do triple match Illinois Link! I wish the market had a few more vendors, as it gets crowded quickly and the lack of competition favors the high prices, but it is a nice thing to do each weekend. I appreciate that it is dog friendly so I can bring my dog with me to get some socialization in.

Thank You Thursday Review…read more Evergreen Park Farmers Market is one of my favorite places.  Open Thursdays from 7 am to 1 pm -  May thru October, I sure miss them from November thru April! My favorite vendor is Dotson Farm, where I purchase herbs and flowers for my garden in May/June. A variety of vegetables are enjoyed throughout the season. This new Market has longer hours and a more expansive location to make it easier for people to attend. It is now located at the 143rd METRA Station in Orland Park...roughly one block west of LaGrange Road at 142nd Street. The Market is held on Thursdays only...from May 25 to August 31. Hours are from 4pm to 8pm. If you happened to be a METRA rider, you will find the Market as soon as you jump off the train at night. Besides adding some live entertainment at this location, the number of vendors is expected to grow substantially as customers find the site. Right now there are about two dozen vendors. The vendors are much like those that were visiting the old Farmer's Market, but this location will eventually attract many additional vendors. Food and food trucks, notions, candles, honey, fresh fruit and vegetables, and many Orland Park businesses are here. For example, the University of Chicago medical people are represented ... even more so because they have a new four story facility just a couple hundred feet away. This new Market is worth trying...it is just one more example of the Village trying to upgrade its offerings to the public. Recommended.

Think of it as a painless immunization. The beekeeper has her beehives right behind at her Carpenter Street house. If you really get into it, you can work a deal with the caring beekeeper to purchase a huge bucket for several months. And the honey is BEE-LICIOUS! (yes, that was lame). More Good News: Gosh, what a cute cultural market! The salespeople are so sweet and friendly. The love for what they specialize in or do shines through in their smiles. The market is like none of the others in the city due to its Latin American cultural roots and flavors. They have private, original art for sale (meet the artisans themselves), fresh vegetables, breakfast items, coffee/tea/mate, delicious-looking pastries, dog treats, and my favorite...local honey products. They even have a great looking website (listed above). The Bad News: While it is VERY small (10 tents possibly), they have a great variety of local products. Bring cash! :) The VERY Bad News: You'll have to wait until next year ;(. Today we stopped there after grabbing some coffee on 18th and Carpenter ;-). We picked up some juicy tomatoes, corn, onions, grape tomatoes, potatoes and garlic. I also grabbed some chicken and mole and ground beef and potatoes empanadas on the way out for our lunch. We reheated them on the panini grill at lunch time. I also scored some fun peach jam. Can't wait to go back next week and try the fresh bread, pastries, vegetarian tamales and tarts. I figure we will take our own "carry out" bags to do good for the environment and take a blanket with so we can turn our Farmer's Market walk into a Sunday picnic. Farmer's Market ends Oct. 28 for 2013. I'm sad I didn't start going sooner but I plan on grabbing some treats from now til then.

What is this, some kind of speakeasy? Once you're in you're looking at two rooms of about 8 vendors per room. Kinda weak. And only maybe 2 of them were actual "farmers". The others had juices or baked goods or breakfast burritos or whatever. Not bad, just not exactly farmers market items en mas. The venue is...weird. It's like an artist coop or something. Really poorly suited to the market. The first thing I noticed was the smoke from cooking (burned?) breakfast foods hanging in the air. Less than ideal. The prices are stupid. Like stupid high. Sure, you expect that from "artisanal", "organic", "small batch", etc stuff. But this was over the top. $8 for a loaf of bread less than 1/3 of a loaf at any other bakery is stupid. The vendors are great, the quality is great. The space, both inside and out sucks, and the prices border on criminal. I suggest you look around for other venues if you are on a budget.

fresh vegatables from local family farms.....whats not to like? well a few things.....not many…read morevendors at all....15 tops and most selling crafts....but the few veggie places were pretty good on prices, though low on selection...... 20 jalapenos ......a basket of cayenne peppers for a buck....good deal.....green, red, orange and yellow bell peppers 25 cents a piece... some Indiana watermelons.....michigan peaches...tomatos... but nothing out of the ordianary.... its green chile season so i was hoping for some new mexico or anaheim peppers but was left empty..... a couple vendors selling food, but if im going to pay $5 for an italian beef or $2.25 for a taco....i'll sit in a/c comfort in a restaurant :-) i got some good fresh veggies but i wish they had more to offer....i will be checking out other places before i go back here

We guess that Homewood - which has a lot of activities and street fairs during the year - hasn't had one in over a year and is just now getting back into the swing. This Homewood Artisan Market seems to be their first post-pandemic event. The Artisan Market is located just a short walk from downtown Homewood and the Illinois Central trains - at Martin Avenue and Hickory Road. There was loads of available street parking and city parking lots. The Market is only on this Friday June 4 (Noon to 6 pm) and Saturday June 5 (10 am to 6 pm). We stopped in right after it opened, and there were between 30 and 50 booths already set up and it looked liked the Market was going to be a big success. The Homewood Artisan Market is free and open to the public, has a nice attention to pandemic safety issues, has good security, and wide open streets to browse the booths. They also had a very big booth with good street food and a broad tented area with picnic tables for sitting down to eat. Since the Artisan Market is set up on a sort of cross-shaped area formed by Martin and Hickory, we include four views of the booths corresponding to the four areas of the cross. Once again, since a picture is worth a thousand words, here are a few thousand words ... . Highly recommended.

But it's situated rights at the Picasso of Chicago. Summer time vibes people just hanging out around the fountain and people watching. Pretty much standard fare for a farmers market. This one has a bit more jewelers and gift options. One thing I notice was the Raclette stand right in front of the Picasso. Mm... hot melt cheese! It's fun to watch too. Always fun stuff happening at Daley Plaza. Random house music parties, pop up shops, and sometimes protests. Always worth passing through when traveling through the loop. Always something fun going on and something tasty to eat.
