They also have fresh veggies and fruits. Also if you're looking for a good quality and local coffee Garden Gourmet has.  I bought four bottles of different kinds of wine and a dozen of beer that I will give to my father. He also asked me to buy him a Montrose because he hasn't tasted it yet. And I'm sure he loves it because the owner of the mini store described to me what it tastes like. Owner also recommended the Rose wine Underwood and I bought also this.  And also if you are looking to cater your party they have a service. You can see the photos of their food in their business photos. I highly recommend this mini grocery if you're looking for a different variety of liquor.

The staff there is truly into their craft and provide the best time for all their services. I finally got to try their sandwiches after years of coming for their charcuteries and various classes (all of which you truly cannot go wrong with), and they were to die for. We split their classic grilled cheese and the TBB and they were both nothing short of phenomenal. The grilled cheese comes with tomato soup which was delicious, and you're able to choose a side for all their sandwich options (we chose arugula salad, which was perfectly lemony). My one and only suggestion would be to offer a toasted option for the TBB sandwich, but it was also truly great as is - I would definitely get both again! Also a random rec but they carry a pretty hard to find red sparkling wine that is AMAZING - Cleto Chiarli Lambrusco Amaible, must try!

We had great help from Emily as we made selections. Beautiful Rind has a fine variety that included several domestic and import cheeses I hadn't seen before. I would've loved to have gotten some of the soft rind cheeses available, but alas, I was traveling the next day and needed more durable cheeses! I bought four small wedges plus a goat caramel from the counter. I would be glad to return here on another trip to Chicago!

I ventured to this store several years ago and it is still the same. It has multiple floors with…read morevarious imported gourmet Italian goods. It is literally a mecca of all things Italy. There is a small market doenstairs with easy to grab pre prepared meals and wines as well as other snacks and beverages as well as trinkets and souvenirs. Since everything in the store is pretty expensive, I don't really purchase much. I have other family members gift a meal or two for me which was eggplant parmesean and I have to say that it was pretty tasty. The portion size i think is generous as well though it did make me really sleepy and nearly almost put me in a coma Nonetheless, it was pretty delicious. They have a wide variety of other goods to choose from as well downstairs. When you take the escalator or elevator to the upper floors, there are dry goods such as breads, tomato sauces, cheeses, bread, and much much more. The wine wall was pretty spectacular as well amd they divided the wines by region. The other part of the store has a stand alone restaurant towards the back which was packed. They also had these stations woth an open concept kitchen so you can see the chefs cooking as well as the bartenders preparing drinks. That was fun to witness as I walked by. It was very hustle bustle and they had one lounge style sit down eatery with waiters and another casual restaurant in the back with waiters. I highly recommend it if you have not gone. I think it's a Chicago must do!

The sandwich is so freaking professional! Because I want the sandwich hot, they disassemble the lettuce before heating it so it won't wilt! Such care and attention. That carmalized onion on the sandwich is absolutely delicious! We had the pint at dinner! Love this place. The staff is friend and patient. The poor pastry staff is super patience with me and have to handle stupid question about the options for a husband that got got a super weak stomach and lactose intolerant (like you are in a freaking Italian grocery! Daily and oil and coffee is a must!). Another I was drooling on the cheese and meat section but cannot get any. The other staff is super patience to help me check out with a pint! The self checkout is easy to use even for a first timer. There were so much stuff I want to get but I got no room in my suitcase! I really want to try the pizza but I think I have to switch to a different travel companion next time! I will definitely return whenever I am in the area!

This comes in a set of 3 mini sizes. Staff was super accommodating and very patient with my decision paralysis of trying to choose flavors. They had great recommendations and our order was up quickly. Tried the hazelnut, semi sweet, and cardamom rose. Really enjoyed it! The marshmallows are also house made and were delish! Tried the truffle of the week, Baileys and they also had a line of brewery inspired flavors, so I tried the Clementine Cider. One also random star of the show is the well stocked washroom! Equipped with ample space, changing table, baby wipes, diapers, sanitary pads and tampons. Kudos for being well stocked for all the ladies and mamas out there! I know empanadas originated in Spain and they spread the art of making these handheld pies to the Philippines, Mexico, Columbia, Venezuela, and yes, Argentina. We are also big fans of Argentinian style empanadas and we were so happy to discover El Mercado on Yelp!! They have quite a variety and we ordered a healthy bunch and got a small tub of the chimichurri sauce. Everything was excellent and the spinach and beef empanadas rose above the rest. :) we decided to have an Alfajor cookie sandwich filled with dulce de leche (I'll have to have this with an espresso next time). Check out the store, get some fine steaks, have a coffee, soak it all in without having to take a flight. :)

I noticed they had a variety of empanadas and decided to try one, I was hooked ever since! I haven't actually shopped at the market but they seem to have a lot of niche items along with the basics. The staff is always friendly whenever visited. I've tried a variety of empanadas around the city but El Mercado reminds me the most of the homemade ones I used to make in college. They don't hold back on the protein and the empanadas always taste fresh. Admittedly the empanadas can add up. They're nearly $4 for each which is pricey so I only visit once in a while when I'm in the area. The empanadas are delicious so I highly recommend trying at least one. My favorite is the pepperoni and cheese as well as the ham and cheese. The pepperoni and cheese empanada is very cheesy so I pair it with a beef / chicken empanada because they don't come with cheese so they balance each other out.
